    When taking additional passes and fine tuning do I need to go back into motor and turn the screw comp back off each time I am taking a new set of measurements? I have been turning it off when I take my .5" readings, enter new data, and turn back on. Am I just chasing my tail doing that way?

      @mt6865 I have not done a comp in a long time but if I remember correctly, I would do the first comp off and tge fine tuning with the comp on and small adjusting the numbers plus or minus until it was dialed in, if you shut it off each time you can't see the difference your making.

    Hi so I’m in the process of converting my g0704 to cnc already have my acorn controller (your video sold me on it) and all of the parts, linear rails and I’ve manually machined all the mounts etc. didn’t plan on getting so hooked on the build or I would have built the whole thing from scratch. Anyways to my question I’m thinking about pulling the trigger on a 1.8kw ac servo for the spindle motor, changing to AC bearings and change it to pulley/belt drive but I’m considering just going with a water cooled spindle instead dropping a ton of weight and issues and gaining a lot of rpm, is that something you would recommend? This is only a hobby machine to build my own personal project parts but I want something that will handle steel and capable of lower rpms also, how do you like yours and would you do the same if doing it over?

    • @AMHKnives
      @AMHKnives 3 года назад

      Thank you, it really depends on how hard you plan on running your mill, heavy steel cutting definitely go spindle with step down pulleys, mostly aluminum and softer materials i would do the higher rpm water cooled. Now that being said I run the pants off my 3 hp water cooled spindle cutting everything from aluminum to titanium with np, need a ton of speed in your axis so you can take thinner chips in those materials. Also flood coolant is a must with the harder materials in my opinion.
