Rear door internal handle relocation on Citroen Relay / Ducato / Boxer / Promaster.
In this video I relocate the rear door handle on my Citroen Relay camper van. the same process and kit fits the Ducato, Boxer and Promaster.
When installing a fixed bed, the door handle in its original location usually then is at the same height as the bed frame meaning that, in an emergency, you cant open the door.
The kit came from Voyage Adventure Vans as a complete kit including the cable, ply template and fixing kit

LPG leak testing in self build camper van Citroen Relay / Ducato / Boxer / Promaster

In this video I use a leak detection spray to test my LPG gas installation for leaks and commission the system. You should always have your gas system tested and inspection by a qualified gas safe engineer, but this spray test method will allow you to fix any small leaks saving both time and therefore money, when the engineer is with you as he will not have to do this and can crack on... Hi The cables that charge the house batteries connected to the busbar ?
Great video 👌 I'm currently in the stage of building my own shower cubicle and got alot from this. Thanks for posting it online 👏
YOU'RE WRONG!!!! Just kidding, I have no opinion on the matter. Very Informative video.
Hi mate. What size are the Sumo.I want for my van Fiat Ducato 2018 -2,3 diesel
Ridiculous comparing insulation and vapour properties of a building to those of a van, not even remotely similar !
Great video thank you 👍did you think about using all 15mm domestic push fittings and pipe I thought John guest was quite expensive. Just wondering thank you and good luck 👍👍👍🏴🏴🇬🇧🇨🇦🦢
Did you consider using the orignal double seat frame? or is that not as wide? Thanks for the content! lots of your videos liked and saved!
christ that music is annoying
Good to see you back Pete. You were a great help when building my L4H3 at the same time. Hope all is well 🏌🏽
Thinking of going down the same route with the underslung gas tank are there plenty of places to fill up.great videos
I think of all the videos I have watched this one is reflecting my thoughts. I always doubted my ability to create an effective vapour barrier. The conduit sticking through, even on GV videos, thats a source of ingress for condensation, are you really going to the trouble of shoving something down your conduits to stop that? We are talking a lot of work. And.... as i always say, you are doing nothing to the cab. It houses all the wiring and electronics for the vehicle. If you successfully vapour barrier your van space, the cab is where the condensation is going, because whatever you do, the condensation is the same. So vent it.
Hello. I know this is 2 years old. Apologies if my question has been asked and answered many times. It’s September 2024 now. I have just collected a brand new motorhome. Paid extra for Remis cab blinds, as shown in your video. They look as though they have been fitted pretty well. They meet in the middle and stay together courtesy of magnetic strips. However, after approximately half an hour they ‘twang’ apart and go back to their respective sides of the windscreen. It doesn’t matter how careful we are in closing them. I should take it back to the converter that fitted them, but it would be a hassle If prefer to avoid if possible. So, I’d like some understanding as to why this might be happening, and of course what the remedy is. Note that it happens every time, and not just occasionally. Thank you, in anticipation.
My wife wants a van tour video as we are in the process of doing ours and she is a visual person 😂
That music is annoying, rest of it is great 😂❤
Quick question did you use a 40amp double pole DC isolator switch from your solar ? . I have 400 watts of solar but am struggling to find a 40amp DC isolator , any ideas thanks.
Enjoyed watching you work again even though I don’t need to do this mod on my van, good work, anything else in the pipeline ?
Great video! is the armrest able to go on other side?
Can you get away with a h2 being 6.2 myself. I'm aware ur 6.0. Cheers
I think it was vanology that explained the vapour barrier theory on a video I watched to day and it makes so much sense.
protect the wire from the bare metal with either a grommet, sealant, conduit or some hot glue...
You don't know how lucky you were. I did mine on the LT35, the back bolt is encased and a bitch to get off, because of access to the bolt. Most people had to cut the bolt as did I.
Hi can you hep me? my camper is a citroen jumper H2L2 , is possible to put 2 beds?
Yes, but because of the lack of height the bottom bed would have to be pretty low so would give very limited garage space. i believe that Rollerteam do a double bunk arrangement in an H2 height van so might be worth finding the info on that for some pics and inspiration on how they did it?
Hi , just a thought re the D+ requirement . I think that ideally the D+ should be live only when the engine is running , which in your example it isn't . Perhaps a relay where the coil is connected to the Battery + & the oil pressure switch would do the trick , with the normally open contacts connected between the Batt + and the charger input ??
Sounds alot more complicated than my simple on/off switch but hey, why not. it would work for sure.
Omg the video I was looking for!!! Thanks a lot 🥹🥹
No problem!!
Hello! Thx for great video. It inspired me to do the same to my campervan. I have one problem and would be very grateful for any feedback. How you turn on your water pump when using shower to make a pressure? In mine, kitchen tap and bath shower has 12v connections and turn on pump when used. How it’s resolved in your car? Thx a lot!
I leave my pump on all the time and it stays primed ready to use, the accumulator stops it from 'pulsing' all the time. when i use the shower the pressure drops and the pump then activates. alternatively simply have a pump on/off switch and turn it on whenever you need water for sink, toilet or shower and not bother with the 12v micro switches. i think that's what most people do. hope that helps.
Yes it helps thank you! I added extra switch to turn on/off water pump
Where did you get the black wheel arch covers they look good
Not an add-on im afraid, they come as standard on the 'enterprise' variant of the relay van.
I am loving your videos very much. One question and hope its not a silly one. Could you not of fitted the front seat that you removed from your van and fitted it there instead of buying that new one? Many thanks and keep up the great videos.
I suppose with some 'fettling' it could be made to fit but would have real seat belt issues as one of the belts is connected to the side of the van in the front of course. additionally, I wanted to fit the Truma underneath and I dont feel that is possible in any way using the original seat base and fame. hope that helps in some way. cheers.
Hello, awesome and very useful video! Thanks a lot. Just a question, what was the thickness of the PVC trim? :)
Oh thats a good question, around 5 or 6 mm if I recall. Anything around that is fine as the difference can be made up with splodge of course..
@@wiltshirecustomcamper7203 Thank youu :)
Great video. At last! Some thought out logic! Well said sir.
Thank you. very kind.
Hello there Looking at your diagram, it seems that most of the parts are connected with 16mm cables. Can I use a 1.5m TPS or 2.5 TPS cable and just take the live and neutral wires instead of using 16mm cables?
Dont use solid core cable in a van and refer to the wiring regulations of the country you are in for amperage ratings of different wire sizes. 2.5 seems very small to replace a 16mm cable????
Hi, great video i have just brought 900x550 polyvision windows for my peugeot boxer, I know that you fitted 900x500 in your campervan, looking at your video I'm just worried that mine might not fit? can you advise me if they would be ok to fit? as I don't want to start cutting then out find out after that I've got a big problem lol, thanks for any help once again great video.
Not sure to be honest. measure on the inside allowing for the wooden frame to be fitted aswell. I'm not confident to be fair so I would measure 3 times before cutting anything.. good luck with it.
Hi loving your videos. Regarding the extra seat, why cant you use the double seat from the front? Keep up the great videos.
3:30 The important thing in insulation is the R value of the material. Generally 3R is ideal. In the image of the material you use, the R value appears to be 2.25. It looks quite suitable. I do not know how the cost of mineral wool price in your country
Seems you use "ignition" and not D+ the difference is that with ignition active the generator may not yet run because the engine is not yet started. D+ active guarantees that the generator is running ensuring that your vehicle battery is not drained.
Agreed, thats why I fitted an on/off switch in the front to switch on the DC-DC when I want it on whilst driving. Yes a D+ would be better but I couldnt be bothered to spend alot of time hunting for it at that time.
@@wiltshirecustomcamper7203 It is not so hard. Lots of options. If you have factory camper it normally has upfit connector at the base of the passenger side B pillar. If not go for the alternator directly, most euro 5 and 6 have an L - DFM alternator. It has no real D+ external rotor coil actuation but an high active signaling on L with the alternator state that is perfect to use. (DFM signals back the load via PWM). I have not yet seen any ducato / boxer / jumper with a LIN bus alternator like in the Crafter or Sprinter that is more of a challenge.
Nice one Sir I had exactly the same problem on my citroen relay those stupid bump stops 😂
Yes, whoever designed that needs to change jobs, how difficult would it be to have a size 15 or 17 'bolt' fitting on it?
Hi mate, briliant video, full of useful information. Could I just ask what size windows did you go for in the sliding door and on the opposite side please?
900x500
Hi, me again. Once again all brilliant, thanks. Just a quick question, what is the plinth for? I have a Peugeot Boxer. Is the plinth optional?
Did it that way for two reasons: to fit a nice LED strip light underneath for 'mood' lighting and also, because of my size 11 feet keep kicking the doors....
Greetings from Turkey. Is the material used on the ceiling wood or plastic, thanks.
It is 3mm ply with a vinyl covering. thanks. Where is nice to visit in Turkey for a holiday for some golf and beach? cheers?
Great informative videos, thanks. Just a random question, but you called some of the gas tank fittings P Clips. Is your background by any chance aircraft?
Thanks for the question and for watching. to answer your question: no not at all and if I remember, on the autogas website they were called P clips, hence where the terminology came from! I am guessing because they are shaped like a letter P?
Hello, loving your content and van build, just embarking on a L4H3 Boxer conversion. See in your driver cab area you have an additional pocket near the sun shades. Did that come as standard or bought separately?
Hi and thanks for watching. it was in the van when I bought it. It is apparently an 'extra' that can be ordered on new van sales? A double edged sword though as although they are great for our wash bags etc, it did cause some hassle for the remis blinds...
Where did you buy this kit from?? I’ve been trying to contact them through their website but cannot get a reply, just and automated response!!
Sorry, I dont know. their facebook page still seems fairly active so try making contact that way?
Hi, that link. no longer goes any where! Can you recommend some where else to get the larger drain taps. Thanks.
Sorry to be picky but I just did a google search for 'campervan drain taps' and the screen lit up with many options for suppliers of these? Magnum motorhome being one of them, try them perhaps?
Great video but did have trouble hearing what you were saying over that terrible music.
If I had a pound....
Hi , great videos , would you say 300 ah of batteries is adequate ,or would you go for more or less now you’ve lived with it for a while , thanks JOHN
Great question! if you cook with gas and heat with gas or diesel then yes, most certainly. if you go for a gas free build and cook on induction then I would go a bit more, at least 400ah or more if you have the space/money! my next van build will be gas free and i will go for a bigger battery bank.
@@wiltshirecustomcamper7203 Thanks for that , last question did you use a 40amp DC isolator switch from your solar ? . I have 400 watts of solar but am struggling to find a 40amp DC isolator , any ideas thanks.
tad and a smidge brilliant , i use a gnats cock.
I couldn’t watch because of stupid music
great comment, thank you! I will let Purple Planet know their music is stupid..
Hi just wonder if you know but why not splice a 12v switched fuse from the fusepanel as 12v d+ signal cable?
Certainly a possibility if you find an 'engine on' only feed and not just ignition on feed. thanks for the comment
