The enormity of Kapustin’s output continues to astound me. What a wonderful hidden gem this is. I’ve never heard Kapustin tackle this particular instrumentation but once again he knocks it out of the park. The high point for me is that beautiful second movement - Central Park in the autumn time comes to mind. Thank you to the uploader for showing this to the world!

Love this- thank you so much- the first movement sounds strangely familiar. Going to sample this one to be honest, there are too many interesting moments to not.

Interestingly, a few years earlier in his Sonatina (the only kapustin ive played and how i discovered his music) he uses the start of this sweet georgia brown theme as the main sonata theme!

OH MY WOW!! ive never heard this kapustin work before (its so fun omg) and I couldn’t believe what sounded like a direct reference of the theme from the fugue from Bach’s BWV 1061 double harpsichord concerto at 2:40, but is genuinely is!! Have other people spotted this before? I don’t think I have ever heard a direct reference in any of Kapustin’s other work before so this is quite unusual!

Do you have any additional information of this recording? After all it's recorded by the Oleg Lundstrem Orchestra and I am really curious of when this happened (IIRC, this recording used to be available on RUclips with an album cover).

The intro sounds more like something from Satie or Ligeti before quickly turning into the Kapustin we all know and love. The thematic transformation is really fascinating... Love how the theme makes a brief return before the finale. Thanks for sharing!

Breathtaking the patterns and deep artistry caught my full attention. Kapustin still amazes me the harmonies and tempo.

Fascinating! I had no idea this existed. Sadly, I've never really cared for JW's 'modernist' material, though there are sections here that I did like. The winds at 9.42 in particular remind me of the final movement of 'Soundings' (The Hall Rejoices), though this obviously predates that. Thanks for uploading!

Thanks for sharing this amazing, lesser known work of Kapustin's! The second movement in particular has such gorgeous, juicy harmonies. I actually like how relatively uninvolved the piano part is compared to the piano parts in his other chamber works; it allows for a lot of great interplay between all the other instruments and shows off Kapustin's thoughtful orchestration. Kapustin's use of the oboe and clarinet in particular is really beautiful. (I have to wonder whether "Cuckoo" from Saint-Saens' Carnival of the Animals influenced the third movement...) It also looks really fun to play!
