The mighty big 12 went down to Memphis last night.

Here is a honest take on the bowl games and matchups that many will disagree with due to their hypocritical nature and attitude but is legit and real take. The Big12 will be guaranteed at least one bowl win in the Alamo Bowl. Memphis is better than arrogant hypocritical Big12 people will admit. Louisiana Lafayette is better than many realize. Arkansas and LSU are better than their records say and will vent frustration out on the Big12 opponents and so don’t want to hear the lame ass pathetic excuses that the Big12, former PAC12, ACC, and MWC are known for in losses or near losses or bad losses. Miami will be motivated to prove something so Iowa State has to match that intensity. Kansas State will have karma to deal with; so that is a crapshoot game decision on if they win and don’t blow a lead and snatch defeat from the pillars of victory. Arizona State may be the lone team to do well either in victory or defeat outside of the Alamo Bowl. Historically speaking, the Big12 has done poorly in bowl games regardless of the opponents. The Big12 can get five bowl wins outside of the Alamo Bowl and Playoff Bowl Game and not get pummeled in the playoffs at any point, then they have something to build around and pushback against the false negatives of how the Bigger12 (as I like to call it) is just a glorified highly paid and high quality Group Of (#) Conference and not seen as equals to other 3 Autonomous conferences.

I think the CFP needs a little revisal, but don't know how to structure it. I would have an 8 team NIT type structure to cover the top 25 though. Play it during the week, & the excitement & money would be awesome.

If we go to 16 teams, I feel they should completely do away with the at large bids. I would vote 4 SEC, 4 Big 10, 3 Big 12, 3 ACC, and 2 G5. The supposed "big dogs" still get to eat, the supposed "tier 2" gets multiple shots to make some noise and win some natties, and the G5 has more to play for. To me, it's a win-win for everyone.

As a Sun Devil I want Texas. I think we can pull of an upset but I think Texas will win but for me it's more about measuring how far are we from the top tier teams. Are we close? Are we still really far away? For me that's what I'd prefer to see.

Hard to compare ASU and OkSt when ASU is in the fastest growing metro area in the country and in between Texas and Cali and OKST is in middle of nowhere rural Oklahoma

Switching to auto-bids is completely fine, but no conference should ever have more than 2 auto-bids. If a conference wants more slots, let them compete for the at-large bids. No #3 or lower team deserves to get a bid above a more deserving team. The SEC and B10 need to man up and compete, and stop asking for favoritism. If your teams truly are worthy, they will get whatever at large bids they deserve.

As an ASU fan traveling from Phoenix, I can tell you the cost for a couple to go to Texas and to Atlanta Georgia are $3000 weekends…..

Pete, the main thing I think you are missing is the motivation for WVU. Not only will the players be playing for a possible spot on RR's squad, but the players absolutely LOVE Chad Scott. I see the players really rallying around Chad and trying to break their necks to get Scott a win as the interim coach.

The only good thing about this WV team is NB is no longer the coach.

Concur about the importance about bowl games. Concur about ESPN, and really the only conference that they promote is the SEC. I do like the Colorado (PAC) vs. BYU matchup, but Baylor vs. LSU does nothing for me. The SEC schools are ALL OVERHYPED.

Love the show Pete, I do think WVU vs Memphis will be a good game. Regional opponent, top 25 opponent, a chance for the seniors to end on a good note, and for players to showcase what they can do on tape for Rich Rod. However, and I probably don’t understand the big picture with Iowa state, didn’t Iowa state have the same situations as byu with barely squeaking by teams and, compared to byu, didn’t even blow out teams? That logic just confuses me 🤔
