That no set schedule for part time is bull. I had a set schedule at ACMoore back in the day. No idea if it was policy, but I had Tuesday night Thursday night Saturday nights and Sunday. Another shift had the other nights and Saturday mornings and full time did week days. It was glorious. You could ask the opposite shift to switch if you needed to. It made planning things easy. And then we always had the same departments on those shifts.

So it's allowed (in USA I guess) to employ someone for full time, and then not give them full time? In Poland, the minimal hours you can get scheduled for is written on your agreement, overtime is limited, you can just not accept it, and it's payed extra if you are working full time. I cannot imagine agreeing to certain amount of hours and then suddenly getting less or being scheduled for more without being informed about it.

I flew spirit once and missed my return flight. they gave me the next one out free *and* a free hotel room on like a $70 fare the next year they got bought out and prices tripled and service went to shit lmao

"Nobody wants to work". 😂 I just had these two boomers, who both work 3 days a week, who own their homes, a rental property, 2 cars, and all the toys and gadgets you can imagine say this to me and my coworker (who are both in our 20s) as we both put in 45 hour weeks and pay ~$2,000 a month for 1 bedrooms... Then quickly caught themselves and said, not people like us. They're literally clueless about how capitalism (and people like them owning Airbnb's so they can work part time while we can't afford rent) is destroying the lives of a generation.

Companies are really out here just wanting uneducated serfs. I’ve heard so many stories lately about management not working around class schedules. Once upon a time employers actually respected students working on their education and scheduled them accordingly. Nowadays they could care less.

The pizza party thing is spot on. My company buys us lunch once a week which is cool but the managers are receiving cash bonuses. It's the hard work of the employees that allows the managers to receive those bonuses so why tf are the employees only getting food?

This is exactly what my job was doing. Working 6 days from 5, making 39 hours a week. Everyone in my department was lacking in their duties and always calling in sick, so they made me pick up the slack. I finally had to make up a story of a death in the family to get fewer days.

Cobra is extremely expensive for no reason, there is no reason you shouldn’t be able to keep your insurance for up to 6 weeks at the same rate you were paying while employed until you get a new job, or if your on unemployment there should be an affordable healthcare plan for the time your on unemployment and not cobra for $700 and as high as $3000 for a 4 family household I saw that for one of my friends who’s child required dialysis 3 times weekly. All of us his friends and family started a go fund me and took care of that problem with the help of so many caring and concerned Americans. We raised $85,000+, so that baby and parents never had to worry about paying for it again. Dropped it into a cd paying 5.3% and makes $4500+ a year. And my friend John got a great new job with amazing healthcare for his family.

When i was in high school i used to hear the other kids complaining about hours to each other. I thought they were stupid and whiny. I didn't understand until i got my first couple of shhty jobs (similar to the ones they had) then i completely understood what they were talking about and many decades later i still remember listening to them because it hasn't changed, i still hear young and older people complaining about hours. Feels like there is a disconnect between logic and reality, how many people would be so much happier if they could find a nice place to work that fit their schedule needs, how much happier would a lot of us be if our job didn't make our non job life now hectic because of hours/schedule

That’s how government trying to help People backfires. They make these dumb ass rules, like 40 hours is full time and has to pay benefits, so then businesses only employ people for short weeks.in college I had 3 Jobs because of this. Would only be allowed 20 hours at each.

That happened to me before. I was in HIGHSCHOOL, and my boss asked me to skip school, and he offered to forge an absent excuse note. I told him "would you want YOUR daughter to skip school?" He replied I don't allow my daughter to work during the school year, an education is important for her future 🤨 I got into it with him, and reported him to corporate he denied it of course.🤨
