Not sure why people hate on auto turrets. You can reload them for free every level and in between levels, no points needed. It's a good way to keep point spend low in key positions on the map.

Everyone knows, that the optimum team consists of two fixers and two Exterminators (so medic is not optimal). Reason: Fixers and Exterminators have option / perk to increase electric grid duration and machine gun ammunition by 25%. When all team members are Fixers / Exterminators, the team has the double amount of stationary machine gun ammunition and the grids lasts twice as long. This is a killer feature that saves incredibly much money.
