Sometimes it's difficult to differentiate gear you want from gear you need...especially if you are gear-heads like us at MBM! The Peak Design Travel Tripod is something we've resisted purchasing since it came out a few years ago. It's not cheap, and we weren't certain it would actually benefit our workflow. That is, until we found ourselves pressed for space while travelling for a client shoot....

Great video, I am very happy with my little Mini 4 pro here in South Africa, thanks for sharing this video, it is very intuitive and professionally done. I owned almost all Dji drones since the Spark and it is amazing how Dji developed their technology thus far. I wonder how they will improve in the future.
Thanks so much for your comment! Glad you enjoyed the video and are loving your Mini 4 Pro, as well 😊
👍😅😊
I'm making a BIG upgrade and had planned on getting the R5 mark ii for years now...but....I'm a food photographer and hope to get into some more wedding and event photography. Not sure if I should save a couple grand and just go with the R6 mark ii. Is there a R6 mark iii coming out soon? I would die knowing I should have waited. Is there R5 mark ii better in low light than the original R5 was?
Hmm really interesting questions! It looks like there are some rumours of the R6 Mark III potentially coming out near the end of 2024, but given where we are now, it seems like they're shifting to a Q1 2025 release (again, rumours; grain of salt). That said, if you feel you can hold off making a purchase for a couple more months still, then you could have the opportunity to either get a brand new R6 Mark III or to potentially get the R6 Mark II at a heavily discounted price. I believe the R5 Mark II has improved on low light performance compared to the original, but I believe the R6 Mark II is still the best for low light. Hope all of this is helpful! We've also included a couple links to the rumour posts we've read about. Thanks again for commenting and let us know what you decide to do! 😊 Rumours: www.canonrumors.com/canon-eos-r6-mark-iii-prototypes-are-in-the-wild/ Rumoured specs: www.canonrumors.com/rumored-r6-mark-iii-specifications/
Why is there no mention of the Goggles 3 or Motion 3 controller?
We don't currently own either the Goggles 3 or Motion 3 controller, so didn't feel it was something we could speak to in the review of the base drone and the setup we have. That said, they're both compatible with the Mini 4 Pro. Is it something you'd like to see us focus on in a future video? Thanks for your comment! 😊
Does this Drone do FPV mode?
Yes, the Mini 4 Pro supports FPV mode. We haven't utilized that yet in any of our videos, but it's definitely something we can explore in a future video! Thanks for your comment!
My costco has a kit with the rc-N2, without the screen. Big difference. That kit is not worth buying.
Yes, you'll definitely want to check and see whether it has the remote with or without the screen. There is probably a cost differential there as well, but worth noting. We'd definitely recommend getting the remote with the screen!
When you say "You can fly it without the RC2 by just using your phone", you mean with an rc-n2 and your phone? Sorry, well done video. Nice to see up and coming RUclipsrs.
Yes, sorry, that is a good thing to clarify for any viewers! You must use a remote controller in some capacity, but we're bigger fans of having the screen being built right in and not worrying about draining battery life on the phone. Thanks so much for your comment! Much appreciated 😊
@ yes, I initially bought it with the RC-N2 but ended up buying the RC2 off of eBay for the convenience.
Way overpriced for me!
It's definitely an expensive item; not for everyone, but definitely does offer several great features. Thanks so much for your comment! 😊
I've had an R5ii since day one, but I'm seriously thinking of going back to an R6ii. In everything but bright sunlight, the R5ii still images are very noisy. In normal, 9:00 a.m. daylight, EVERY image has to be processed through denoise software. That's too much. It adds HOURS to my workflow in every shoot. So . . . it's very possible I'll go back to the original R5 or to the R6ii.
Very interesting; thanks for sharing! That's certainly surprising to hear. Did you have an original R5 previously too? Perhaps your sensor may need to be cleaned too?
the tripod not being arca swiss compatible makes it an instant no for me, and that probably applies to a lot of landscape/travel photographers
the peak design tripod can be used with arca swiss plates though
The plate is functional with most ARCA-type tripods, but are you meaning that you can’t use other plates in place of the included Peak Design one?
Ummm that’s incorrect - it works with arcs swiss plates. Just remove the two screws on the side.
Hello can you tell me which camera is best newborn photography canon eos 5d od 6d mark ii
If you're just starting out, you may find it more beneficial to get one of Canon's other full-frame mirrorless cameras that are a bit cheaper and instead invest in getting the best Canon RF lenses you can. But if you're just starting out and trying to decide between the R5 Mark II and the R6 Mark II, I'd say the R6 would be the better option for you!
Biggest problem with Canon that it uses outdated decades old, non BSI-CMOS sensors even in newest models such as R6 mark II and has low sensitivity due to ridiculous megapixel counts or if they use later sensor they are huge like R3 or R1, what a shame. I like more Sony A7sIII. By now they should have been experimenting with SPAD or x1000 more sensitive graphene sensors to shring camera size, weight and cost.
No idea what to do. Looking at upgrading from our old old mk6. Mirrorless is happening just don’t know which ones. Focusing on Sports Photography with portraits 2nd job. Thanks for the information
When you say MK6 do you mean the original R6 or perhaps a 6D and will now be upgrading to Mirrorless? Let me know and I'll be happy to offer some specific advice 😊
Keep doing great work
You are great
I think that's not a problem because the eject option ejects the disk immediately without asking you if you are sure to eject the drive or not, so whenever you see a warning message, you will know you pressed the erase option
R6 mark 2 is no match to r5 m2😊
The R5 Mark II is certainly a better and more powerful camera, but there are plenty of people who still find great use from the R6, particularly if they don't need to spend the extra money for the additional features of the R5. But 100%, on paper the R5 is better! 😊
Why do you need 8k when you finally export for youtube, and then whatch the video in a fullhd monitor or iphone… i think you can shoot 8k if you whant to crop, but you can scale 4k to 8k in davinci resolve and the size of the files is smaller
Great point. For most people viewing, 4K is even overkill. The ability to crop is certainly nice, but given file sizes and the fact that most people view on phones, very few videographers actually need to be filming in 8K at this point. Thanks for commenting! 😊
Thank you for the informative video! Good job! :-) Here's a unknown color mode as result of experimenting I done on (beta ColorSpace) online. and I wondering if you can tell me if it are additive or subtractive. The color mode code is: #000000, #00ff00, #ffffff Black, Green & White (abbreviated as KGW) Here's the CSS Code as result: background-image: linear-gradient (to right, #000000, #411f1e, #773f22, #9b6d14, #a3a700, #86c84f, #5de591, #00ffd7, #4dffff, #a9fcff, #e7faff, #ffffff);
Just install AltTab. Set it to the Cmd+Tab Shortcut and have the same experience you have on any other OS. 😉
It’s alt tab on win, not ctrl tab
I’m an R6 mk II owner with a bunch of L series lenses and I mostly shoot stills… the upgrades you mentioned (45mp, stacked sensor, eye focus, video improvements) have won me over. And I’ll have the R6 mk II as the B cam as I don’t actually do anything in 8k.
@@RandyLeBlancPhotography Seems like a great choice! Thanks for commenting 😊
What would you choose R52 or still R6mark2?

Tnx for this review. When one upgrades from R6M2 to R5M2 yoy needs also the new battery. They give extra power for the functions in the R5M2. Also the new batteryholder with the fan. R5M2 use also the expensive CF-Express card and 1 one SD- card. WHile the R6M2 use SD-cards in both slots.

Thanks for the feedback! Definitely something we’re considering. We also wanted to offer our opinion based on the specs in advance of the release, for people making day one decisions. Thanks again 😊
I got the R6 II when it came out and it's the best camera I've owned in 18 years as a pro and I shot for 12 years with the best 1D cams. R6 II blows the 1D cameras I used in terms of image quality and autofocus speed/accuracy which is saying a lot. I also used to print huge prints - even billboards - from the 8 - 10 MP cameras and they looked awesome. 24 MP will allow any size print and they will look awesome. I've had 2ft x 3ft posters made and the detail even up close is incredible. I've also compared images with the R5 and found that af accuracy and lens sharpness makes a bigger difference when it comes to image detail. I can upscale R6 II files to 45 MP output in Adobe Camera Raw and usually compared the R5 files it's VERY difficult to see any difference. If I use something like Adobe's built in Superscale, R6 II files actually give the perception of being more detailed. But what is nice is that the 24 MP files are so much easier to work with and store. I think MP is mostly marketing hype now that creates FOMO. I think the saturation point for MP on a full frame sensor was reached at about 30 MP, though I also find my R6 II files to be sharper than when I had the R. I shoot hockey and the R6 II has about a 95% perfect hit rate which destroys any 1 Series camera I had and those were top of the line pro sports bodies used by Sports Illustrated etc, for years. 10 fps on those cams was considered so fast they sounded like machine guns. Now with 12 fps on the R6 II, I just don't miss shots. Electronic shutter is way too fast and also degrades IQ (noise, dynamic range, bowing) for most cameras and culling shots from 40 fps bursts is not fun. In fact, even 12 fps bursts can be a lot after a few hours of shooting. The only thing I miss is having 4k120 for video. But man, the R5 and the R5 II here in Canada were almost 2x as much as the R6 II so with all the money I saved I got a 70-200 2.8 instead. Also the R6 II has significantly better battery life than the R5 and R5 II.
Thanks so much for sharing! Great insights and glad to hear you’re also loving your R6 Mark II. It really is such a great camera and the cost differential between it and the R5 line is so substantial. Definitely think it was a smart choice to invest that into the lens as you did! 😊
Hi----interested in R6ii--are your hockey shots on a website? If so, can you give me the link? Thanks
I am still sitting with my 5DSR as i am primary real estate and virtual tour photorapher, but waiting for some price drops on R6 mark ii and R5 mi, to move on. So hope this will be in near future :)
The problem is with the lenses and the reach. Specially with wlidlife photography. Shooting with 400 mm and little space for crop. Not everyone can afford the 600 f4. I actually switch to sony some years ago, and the mega pixels is something you neeed to get more reach or simply because you cannot compose perfectly with unpredictable moving subjects. We are blessed with options now, in all the brands, but the problem is they are way too expensive!
@@luispiovani9542 Great point! There are lots of options and being able to make up for a lack of reach with the megapixels certainly helps!
I never had a problem with bowing. Would prefer more dynamic range.
If you don’t have it what are we doing
r6 mk ii owner...when I shoot sports indoors, I have to use the first curtain shutter in order to get rid of banding. so ..far from 40 fps. the r5 mkii solves this issue with anti flicker option available even in ES mode ( not even mentioning the 14 bit )

Buy camera first. Theoretical expert😂
We’d love to give the R5 Mark II a try for sure! That said, we wanted to offer our opinions on the specs in relation to our uses as media professionals at this point as people consider buying it
Clog2, 4k120, AF lock with foreground interference, 1080p 240 for social media slow-mo, 45 megapixel with 30 fps bursts and 8K video for big client contracts. It’s a no brainer. R5ii - A Cam R6ii - B Cam
Agreed! R5ii for A Cam is a great option with the R6ii B Cam as an amazing second. Having the different options between the two cameras is also really useful, but sometimes when you don’t have certain things 100% consistent between both cameras it can throw you off. At least they changed the buttons to be more in line now 😊
@@messengerbagmedia Agreed. I feel like they will be close enough. And when I need to pair them I will just shoot Clog3 on both. Ps- 4k120 has “Audio” too…game changer for what I do!
Cannot post or edit these files, need capital to view the 8k videos
The interesting thing though is we're paying nearly double for those additional features...you need different batteries...pay a premium for the 'latest and greatest;'..the money saved would go a LONG way towards a premium Canon L lens ...that is some of the debate I'm going through anyway!
@@MatthewPolack Great points, however, you don’t need new batteries for the R5 Mark II; the new batteries just exist to provide additional power particularly in 8K though. Thanks for the comment 😊
I had two r5m1 and an r7. Sold one r5m1 and have a preorder in to the r5m2. I shoot wildlife and primarily birds, so I find the 45 MP perfect for me. I do shoot video so I can use all three cameras for that but the r7 will be my primary video camera as I need to reach of the crop sensor then.
The reach of the crop is definitely useful! When we first bought the R the crop was helpful for the extra reach if you didn’t want to buy the lens for that purpose. That said, if you’re upgrading from the R5 Mark I the new sensor could be a nice bonus!
Two different classes, comparing the two seems odd
They’re definitely different but I know when we were deciding to upgrade that I found it helpful to see very specific comparisons between two models, even if they were for different markets/classes.
I am going to skip the R5II and wait until the R5 XXIII comes out.
You don't need to spend thousands of dollars for the R5II. You just build your own R5II camera at home using Canon's R5II blueprint that you can get from the black market.
I did that but the pages were stuck together so I accidentally made half an R5 Mark II and half a shepherd’s pie. 😩
@@coasterodyssey That is even better because now you are able to eat your pie and have your camera too.
The best camera is the one that just comes out.
Its 45mpx (yeah more cpu power and disc needed too) but i want better af, clog2 (wouldn't move to it if they open clog2 on R6mkii) and more or less thats it.. all good on R6mkii
C-Log 2 on the R6 Mark II would be amazing to have! The better AF plus that are definitely making us think about it, but the cost versus what we have with the R6MKii isn’t enough at this point
@@messengerbagmedia i dp agree, and you can film 6k raw externally so you can achieve even better quality picture. But best part is that R6 is now on sale, its so cheap that its a no brainer!

Thank you for your great considerations. I own the r6ii and I am very happy with it. Anyway I preordered the R5ii and wonder if the linescipped 4k 50p of the R5ii can compete with the oversampled 4k 50p of the R6ii. And: the 4k 120p of the R5ii is linescipped too. What do you think?
Thanks for the comment! Glad you enjoyed the video. That’s a really great question, too! I remember when the original R6 came out that was also a question people were asking. The oversampling on the R6 definitely provides a great quality video, but while the lineskipping may be/sound annoying or a drawback, it is only when you zoom in very close that you notice whatever small difference there may be. Maybe we’ll try to make a video addressing this question in future and show some comparisons! 😊
I want one for mostly portraits. I hate the video/photo switch being on the left though. It should be where the power switch is instead so you can easily flick it with your thumb instead of moving your left hand back and forth from the lense. Especially cumbersome if you have a heavy lens.

I also don't have any lens. There are 2 options first is buy the 2 lens with R62 or 2nd option is R52 with Rf50 1.8... later on I'll upgrade my lens 24-105.. is it worth to sacrifice more money. I want 4,5 years future safe. If you're in my place what you'll do?? Is it good offer or suggest me any other option!! R3 is a other option for me!!
@iabdulhaseeb Prioritize the lens option. Always get the best lens you can afford and then pair that with a camera you can afford. R5MKii is a beast, but if you need lenses, get the R6mkii and the lenses. You can always swap the camera out later. The lenses you can keep 5 to 10 years easy. Date the camera bodies, marry the lenses.
@mikedionr thanks .. already bought R52 with RF 35
I have an OG R6 and just bought a used R5 MK I now that the price has come down so much. I paid 1850 before tax and shipping.
sadly in my country the price of the new Canon R5 is still almost the same as the price when it was first launched 😔
The price is definitely dropping. Seems like a good combo!
@@dimaskresna2079The R5 Mark II comes out next week technically, so you may find the price on the original R5 has dropped substantially by next month
I am upgrading to the R5 II but I primarily shoot sports so it just makes sense for me to upgrade.
Awesome! Seems like a great choice, particularly with the focus on sports photography!
For sports photos? I shoot hockey and the R6 II never misses AF. It even nails eye AF through visors and cages with 95% accuracy. And it's probably better in low light than the R5 II. I shoot 12 fps though and never use electronic shutter as it degrades image quality for most cams (even the R5 II). I used to shoot as a pro with the best 1 Series cams that were 10 fps which was insanely fast, so 12 fps is even better. 40 fps is overkill imho. For video though, the 4k120 on the R5 II is great.
Same
I have the Canon 5D Mark 4 and the R6 Mark 2. I have the R5 Mark 2 on preorder and trying to decide if I want to keep the order. I would at least get rid of the 5D and possibly the R6. I photograph sports and like the improved focusing and stack sensor primarily.
Upgrading from the 5D Mark IV to the R5 Mark II would be a big upgrade and having both your cameras be mirrorless may also be nice for you (especially if you do any video). If you’re unsure and are primarily doing photos, you could perhaps think about buying an original R5 secondhand, as that price will drop as people trade in to upgrade. I know you mentioned sports, so that stacked sensor would definitely be good, but just depends if it’s worth the money to you.
I think my PS ai has been drinking, the results are terrible.
