THANK YOU MIKE! This is one of the most comprehensive reviews of the Apple Studio Display Monitors I've seen. Truly a balanced review. I presently have a iMac Retina 27" late 2015 which software wise has aged out since Apple is no longer upgrading the iOS for it and Microsoft Office will not upgrade for glitches etc. So going to a Mac Mini Pro dressed out with a aux SSD. Your review just made it more palatable to pop the $$$$.00

I will use the recording studio monitors comparision… Studio Display is like monitors with very hi-fi, boost bass characteristics. It’s great for some pro work and serves well as a reference display. But at the same time it gives you picture that’s too polished to be used in serious graphic design work. For something like NS-10 experience in displays I go all the way with Eizo. So in theory the perfect Mac setup would be Studio Display for everyday use and something like Eizo CG 2709s for graphic design and coloring work.

In your prior video, you mentioned too much real estate with two monitors, yet I see a third in this video! You must explain! 😀

I'm not gonna lie bro, I just subbed to you. You understand this stuff. That's why you the GOAT. Yeah, all these people on here talking about buying this monitor and that, but that's for them. We gotta do whatever editing we're planning on doing, whether it's video editing, audio editing, etc. For the people, because the people won't have these screens and stuff. You want to make it look good on their end, not just ours. Man, that is a pro tip I love you for that brother.

Do you feel like just one monitor would be enough, or do you really like having two of them?

For myself, I want it due to the chipsets now being all Apple made and working together in synchronization with the A chipsets, so everything is seamless 🎉

Hey Mike, just watched your video and I appreciate the review. If you're still using the ASP's, you can get a few different docks that will handle both monitors with only one thunderbolt port being used from the laptop. I got the CalDigit TS4 and it's great, a bit pricy but it has a ton of function.

When you boot up have you ever experienced the screens switching places? Like the left screen suddenly is the right, and visa versa.

Not going to lie, if I'm in a Zoom Call, I don't want to use a 4k webcam or use my iPhone via Continuity Camera. The details ARE way too clear vs the studio display's camera 😂

I disagree about the cameras. I think they're more than fine, especially for webcams, and the centre stage is a killer feature.

Great review - I love the display too. And your presentation and style are A+. Only disagreement (and everything is relative) is that the camera IMHO is excellent (firmware update?), but that is by comparison to the iMac 27 (Late 2015) this replaced (along with a blazing fast new MacBook Pro M3 Pro 1T). Subscribed - looking forward to more reviews!

The previous Cinema Display never even had a height adjustable stand option. Just a basic stand or you could buy a VESA mount for extra.

The video we all needed at the beginning. I just started at a new place and inherited 3 fx9’s only to find out we have $100 tripods. Spent a whole day trying to show the guys how to set everything up ergonomically and e efficiently so they can still use their backs in ten years.

So my current setup is an iMac with a MacBook Air on one side and an iPad Pro on the other. That gives me three screens. I don’t always need three screens, but I use two screens most of the time and make use of Universal Clipboard and that deal where you can use the mouse across all two or three devices. That works mostly without a hitch but sometimes it’s a little buggy. Anyway the Air is like $1,600 in its current configuration, so around the same price as an Apple monitor only it’s just 15”. The iPad Pro is about $1,100 with the Magic Keyboard, so not quite what the Apple monitor is, but I can pull it off the keyboard and go flop on the couch with it because it’s an iPad. So my point is…I’m not sure what it is completely but maybe it’s just that $1,500 isn’t such a bad price for a nice mobilize that. It may not be portable like the Air or iPad but it’s a lot bigger and doesn’t take up as much desk space as the Air does.

What do I do about the webcam - how bad is it - is it super bad if you regularly have business zoom alls?

This is a terrific video. Thank you! I am contemplating a MacStudio to replace a 2018 iMac Pro which I have loved using. I am debating dual Studio Displays or a single XDR display. Or perhaps I try 1 Studio Display and wait to see if Apple has another monitor coming in the next 12 months. Good to know the Dual Studio Displays have worked out well for you!

Being used to a certain electronic language is a huge deal! Just purchased the Studio monitor to use with my old 27” iMac and new M3pro MacBook Pro 💻 🎉❤😅, I’m 🍎 all in 😊.
