The MCU is NOT 616
616 vs. 19999 (or is it 199999?) I thought it was the first but I'm probably wrong. Also, I couldn't find anything backing me up, so don't quote me on "Prime Earth". @Sandwichreviewsforthesoul

Yk between this and the Deadpool and Wolverine “Sacred timeline” stuff my interpretation is just that the MCU has the timeline equivalent of completely unchecked main character syndrome. Like “Yeah, obviously we have the big important 616 number, we’re the all important main sacred timeline, that comic continuity already carrying that designation is completely irrelevant.” Meanwhile the entire rest of the multiverse outside that bubble just looks at it like any other alternate universe with its own distinct classification.

If you asked Mark Gruenwald he would say The comics 616 and the MCU 616 are in different multiverse but the same megaverse. This would account for how the TVA operate differently in the different multiverses. Problem solved.

Well, for Iron Man there is still one 'Iconic' story, but I don't think Disney will EVER do it justice: "Demon is a bottle', the story of how Tony fell into alcoholism, and eventually overcame it. I think disney thinks the character means too much to both fans, and them (money wise) to ever 'taint' him with something like this, even though it was the story that put Iron Man on the map (more or less). He did get drunk in one scene in Iron Man 2, and had people thinking he was 'drinking' too much, when he was actually taking the antidote for his 'platinum poisoning', but that's as far as they will go, unless RDJ stepped up and say he would don the iconic beard one more time to tell that story right (don't think he will; kind of put the character behind him, even with the Doom thing, and he's swimming in Disney cash already 😅) I have always said, though, that you can do a 'variant' of MCU Tony Stark that is similar, but at the same time very familiar, in more ways than one: Introduce Arnold ('Arno') Stark, Tony's adoptive brother from the comics (actually Tony is adopted, but I never liked that), who may or may not be Evil. Also, have him be played by Charlie Sheen: A person who is a good actor, but 'fell off the wagon' in his own way, just as RDJ did in his youth, but is poised to make a come back now that he is Clean and Sober, and is used to playing 'Lovable Asshats' 😂

I used to be mad about it but honestly I seen another video or something somewhere calling the MCUs choice for calling itself as 616 adaptation. You wouldn't bust DCs balls by using the Earth 1 in any of the media that clearly isn't DCs Earth 1. 616 is just a in universe way of saying it's the main earth = earth prime = earth 1.

    • @Sandwichreviewsforthesoul

That makes sense, but 616 is just too specific of a number. It would've been fine if the MCU went by 617, or anything else, but it comes off as lazy to copy the comics.

I love your Fanboy Geek Card-carrying passion, I really do, but you are making a mountain of a mole hill - most modern comic book fans don't read comics - Marvel Comics are altered to fit the aesthetics of the MCU when an MCU character becomes popular (Agatha Harkness is aesthetically a 90-year old woman, but now she looks like a 40-something middle-aged woman with a streak of white hair in current comics continuity - and many think Krakoa ended because the X-Men will premiere in the MCU in a few years) loved the video, but the need for this distinction will never resonate with modern comic book fans who don't read comics and don't know the history anyway.....

Honestly, you are 110% right. If anything, the movies have more cultural sway because, for the majority of the people, that's what they see. And most of the time, a character is redesigned to fit the movie version, but I still think both sides should try to make decisions that help make their stories easier to get into. Rather than increasing the mountain of convoluted lore and making it incomprehensible. But also, none of this matters and won't affect our actual lives at all. Yet, the geek card carrier in me just had to make this video.

  • @NetherTamer

I think the fact they called it 616 is because of the fact the MCU is an adaptation of the comics. They're trying to say that everything is just an adaptation and doesn't run alongside the comics, which makes complete sense as so many of the multiverse stories happening between the comics and the MCU wouldn't work alongside each other. I personally would've preferred if they stuck with 199999 but I can see perfectly why they chose 616.

This was done utterly on purpose... The MCU is being established as separate multiverse ever since Endgame, with the Infinity Gauntlet working completely different from the rules established in the comics. Why was it done? Because Feige wants creative freedom. He wants his movies to be able to do whatever they want, without being restrained by the comic continuity. Nothing that happened in Loki TV Series would have been possible within comic book multiverse, where entities upon entities watch over and would immediately interfere if any timeline got spaghettied. The MCMultiverse might exist somewhere within Multiversal Eternity on the other side of the Superstream, be the Ninth Cosmos, experiment by The Beyonders or just be its own thing entirely; who cares, certainly not the filmmakers. Is this disrespectful to the comic books? A bit, yeah; because it does mean that comic books don't matter from the films' perspective. But 1) they don't care anyway 2) I kinda see their perspective, they wanna tell their own stories however they please. Many comic book writers wanted that freedom back in the day and we rooted for them, why should films be any different? And at the end of the day - it's all fiction, so. 🤷

But why would it be a separate Multiverse when every other Marvel adaptation that exists is part of the same Multiverse. Including attractions in Universal Florida and Marvel Lego Games all operating in the same Multiverse. Why would the movies suddenly need to be part of a *separate* Multiverse. That's just not how any of it works.

    • @ptcarbonproductions2013
      @ptcarbonproductions2013 2 часа назад

@@FoxFan12 No Marvel adaptation prior to MCU explored the multiverse like that though, and by "like that" I mean with establishing the laws that govern the multiverse. You might be thinking that the multiverse allows for anything to be true all at once, but this isn't correct for either the comic books or the movies - both multiverses have multiversal-wide laws that everything within them must abide by. And there are now multiple blatant contradictions between the comic and movie laws. Such as: - Wanda destroying every copy of the Darkhold in the multiverse. This means that Darkhold from the comic books should also cease to exist... But it does exist. - In the comics, Infinity Gems only work in their universe of origin. The entire plot of Avengers: Endgame relies on using Infinity Stones from different universes. - Loki's multiversal Yggdrassil isn't acknowledged by the comics. - MCU establishes its own extraversal entity in form of K.E.V.I.N. How does K.E.V.I.N relate to multiversal abstracts, The Beyonders or One Above All? It's never established. - The Captain Britain Corps, responsible for protecting the comic book multiverse, have so far done nothing about stuff threatening the whole movie Multiverse, such as Infinity Ultron, Strange Supreme or the war between Kangs. Could it be because... They aren't there at all? Ask yourself this: what's more likely, two Marvel multiverses or one Marvel multiverse constantly misinforming you on its inner workings? Idk why it's so hard to accept two multiverses, DC has like a hundred of them. And I don't know where you found the info that LEGO games take place in comic multiverse... They very well may, but it's more likely they're part of LEGO multiverse.

No dimensions just Spiderman swinging through portals to the Grand Canyon or some RANDOM place then New York again. Maybe some villain in a montage is in a location he can’t get to and he doesn’t have Tony’s money to get him to that spot. He ask Dr. Strange and he says sure, then he had a 10 minute window to portal there and fight crime until another portal opens to go back to New York. It ties that it’s all connected together, but it’s not TOO much and they can still have fun with new spaces- PLUS it makes the stress of a time limit.

The opening sequence of Matt Reeves' THE BATMAN had the right idea. It's set on Halloween, so everyone has an excuse to wear an outlandish costume. Nobody probably even suspected those guys in "skeleton face" were criminals until they started actually committing crimes. And then, there was that guy with what looked like an onion for a head who was absurd even for a comic book story...but it works because he's depicted not as theatrical or goofy, but terrified of Batman. It's Batman who's the real freak there. Costumes in movies like THE PURGE also work because the perpetrators are fed up with society and want to spread terror throughout a city they hate, even though they don't need the disguises because their crimes have been legalized. And in both JOKER and its current sequel, the purpose of the clown garb on the protesters is both to get media attention and to strike back in defiance at a despised figure who really did call them clowns. But there are times when being surreal just doesn't work. As much as I love Walter Hill's 1979 film THE WARRIORS as a guilty pleasure, it is just that - a guilty pleasure - and, like A CLOCKWORK ORANGE, comes off not as a crime drama but as an extremely dark comedy. The characters in THE WARRIORS are supposed to be serious revolutionaries, at least during the early parts of the film. You'd think that they, like all committed anarchists, would not have time for silly dress-up games.

Grim, gritty, and Gothic Gotham should be the mood and style of them, but not constrain the characters' superpowers or costumes, because they are still superhero movies, and must appeal to a geek audience.

Reboots tend to usually happen, but yeah I don't think a movie franchise that's been spanning over a decade now even going through a kind of rough time due to weird stuff going on behind the scenes is going to be able to be rebooted in any successful capacity. EDIT: The best solution I think instead of a reboot would be to have some self contained universes and stories alongside the main one instead of an actual reboot of the MCU. It'd be a better usage of a "multiverse" than what they ended up doing, too. A good several decades back, quite a while before disney owned them, Marvel did something kind of similar-ish with their "Ultimate universe" comics. MCU nick fury technically draws from those as they based Ultimate nick fury off samuel L jackson BEFORE he even had the role in a movie. Always was cool to me. Also, someone might have already brought this up but the hate for the she-hulk show is mainly the cgi and one scene that treats bruce really bad. The pre-emptive aggression towards fans and people even mildly critical that people involved with disney/marvel do sometimes in response to anything other than full praise the last few years probably didn't help the situation either.

  • @Sleesus

Comic joker's origin WAS the red hood. It's "nebulous" as a modern invention but it was outright stated in the first appearance of red hood that it was him the whole time. In that first appearance comic however, he was always a criminal and just rethemed after his skin got bleached, not a guy that had one bad day. Also it was a vat of chemicals, not acid. Harvey was the one that got acid on his face. Going off on a tangent here but Two face's iconic appearance in most iterations is literally just what acid attack victims look like minus the green/blue/purple face coloration. Kinda interestingly one of the more realistic designs for a mainstay villain when you remove the two toned suit. The stuff brought up at 9:01 reminded me the "self aware but still kind of serious at times" batman has been done before, ironically in an animated show titled "batman: the brave and the bold" There's an episode that showcases joker's origin but in a slightly different way as it's an alternate timeline where him going through a traumatic event didn't break his psyche but instead strengthened his moral compass.

The makeup killed the movie for me before I even watched it. Why make a movie about a character if it isn't even going to look like the character it's supposed to be about? The movie itself was just cliched and hackneyed as far as I'm concerned. Giving The Joker a name and a backstory is bad enough, but making a typical disturbed mama's boy with some goofy laughing disorder is almost a mockery of The Joker as a character. As far as I'm concerned Todd Phillips' whole take on The Joker sucks toilet water.

Itd have to have been based in the future and Batman would have been beating up poor Arthur jokester at the Arkham nursing home. I don't want to see that. This Arthur probably would have just fell down and broke a hip anyway so definitely wouldn't have been able to go up against Batman. It would have been terrible (even if Batman was the correct age in this movie, he's just a kid in this era though). He would not have been any criminal Mastermind to go up against Batman, it would have been too easy and who wants that? * Edited because Google does not like my voice, sorry if they're still mistakes because typing is not easy for me

I've been saying since the first movie this guy wasn't the joker and people kept saying it's a different interpretation and that I just want the same thing over and over. I can easily debunk that argument by saying he's a bad interpretation. An interpretation should add something new and different that benefits it. Not strip the character of every quality that made them interesting and who they were to begin with. And I don't understand how wanting a movie to stay true to it's character wanting the same thing. If you call a movie joker damn right i want the joker.

I've been calling it jokester from day one... That's not joker and it's never been joker, but I think only casual fans thought it was joker.. and unfortunately, that's their introduction to joker or that. Jared Leto joker.😅 To me, neither one of them were the joker. Heck, Lego Batman had a better joker, and it was a Lego character.

Plot was a bit messy. but still a fun movie, still better than i thought it would be. I give it an 8.5/10

Absolutely disagree. A reboot is more than necessary.
