You are an Angel on earth. I am the most unorganized artistically minded music teacher (K-8 general music and orchestra) and my often-last-minute instructions make people nervous. If it weren’t for the last minute, I’d be out of minutes! my biggest struggle is that I work 12 hours per day and never seem to be able to accomplish the priority lists of the day regarding correspondence and everyone wants personalized communication from me and wants to ask the questions that were highlighted in whatever correspondence I do send out. I’ve learned that to be successful, I need to maintain a grace not gotcha mentality and treat families with consistent kindness rather than coldness and negativity. It has helped me through for 7 years at the school I attended when I was a k-8th grade student. Being diplomatic, almost like you’re running for office and want to serve the people, has really helped. My friends in other careers have very brutally honest social media posts. My posts look like I live at my school…. Because I do! :-)

Great ideas, Donna! I was able to extract only 20 minutes of in-class time for a boys choir, once a week. I met with 2 small groups. Gradually put them together, then for performances put them together , both as just boys, and also with the "general" choir which was all girls who rehearsed at lunch time. I don't see it as politically incorrect, I see it as affirmative action. We need more boys and men who feel safe singing in choirs. This can only benefit society.
