Просмотров 100 тыс.8 лет назад
This Starling has been trained to mimic words and phrases about its invasive introduction to the North American continent. It has also picked up some inadvertent mimicry along the way.

I don't understand the term "Introduced species" when it comes to BIRDS. The poor little guy didn't know that, and nobody would take him because of it? Idiots

The starling must be Europe's revenge for the grey squirrel😂. Or maybe it was vice versa.

A lot of birds are named after the sounds that they make, for instance, the Chickadee. I like to imagine that the European starling was named because that was the bird call they heard in the wild

There IS a correlation between the intelligence of an animal and its ability to thrive and even OVERpopulate. Hence, the not-native-to-North-America European Starling. (Also the human being, LOL) Starlings are a pest to farmer’s food crops (Our food, peeps!) and will drive out our native birds. In Alaska, people are encouraged to kill them, they have so overwhelmingly taken over habitats. Down here in hot old Arizona, this past winter I had a huge gaggle of ES’s take over my backyard, kick ALL the other native birds out; even the normally cocky Cactus Wrens, even taking over the Saguaro cactus that is the preferred apartment of Cactus Wrens, and putting about 30 new holes in it - which will eventually lead to its death ☠️.🌵 In 50 years of living in AZ I have never seen anything like this. The ONLY natural enemy of this invasive bird that I have seen so far is HEAT. The majority of the flock seems to be gone now that temps are getting to the high 90 degrees F. But there’s still a few large, I think males , still looking for my dog’s kibble in the grass. Big crows will fly down and “promenade “ right in front of them with their little chests puffed out, but these ES’s are like Honey Badger, they DON’T give a you-know-what, 🤷🏻‍♀️😧

Thankyou for that interesting education straight from the Starling's mouth. The Starling Flag on the email here is created from the silhouette of a Starling photographed in the UK and has been used to highlight the opposite problem we have with Starling's in the UK, they are on the critically endangered list along with more than 1/4 of British bird species who's numbers are unstable. This Agent Starling St Georges Cross flag has been used in many ways to highlight some of our world environmental problems including being the label for the distribution of over 5000 tree saplings and seedlings and over 1000000 tree seeds free to thousands of members of the public. The Agent Starling flag also features on the bonnet of the environment car that has distributed many of these trees and seeds all over Europe with the aid of the Greenbacked Fire Crown Hummingbirds on the roof of the car. You can see this and many over things in additional videos relating to Starlings at :- ruclips.net/video/pTLb6Bh7_K4/видео.htmlsi=nZczIO3UFX14wJEN I am sorry to here that you have problems with Starlings in the US because of idiotic British people. I have many idiotic British people in my life and a few of them are called JEN, its amazing how these idiots get there name into my RUclips post titles especially as RUclips has American origins, sad...JENS are about the worst spirited people in my life...

In California ALL birds in the wild are protected... except starlings, sparrows, and pigeons. We do have huge flocks of Amazons, Conures, and several other parrots species from Asia and Africa also part of the California coast landscape. So happy to see parrots back in nature after European settlers made extinct the Carolina Parakeet. Thx for sharing.

Whoa! Wonderful video!! Regardless of which side of the environmental/invasive species/humane divide you're on, only human arrogance could let you think there's something left to do at this point. Short of the kind of CRISPR-like solution discussed for mosquitos, I hate to tell you, the species *has* invaded. Which, I also hate to tell you, is The Story Of All Species, everywhere, for hundreds of millennia. Just because we've recently helped them cross oceans doesn't change how appalled you'd have been by an overview of your garden at any time in history. What do you think weeds are? With 99.999% of all once-extant species extinct, attempts to control the climate, already-invaded populations, etc are only efforts to Keep Things As They Are, which is to say, to keep things the way the current crop of humans are familiar with. "Nature red in tooth and claw" is, always has been, and always will be the way species sort themselves. And nature's greatest disruptor, Homo Sapiens, is the worst of them all by any of the measures used in these conversations. Sure, we all know NOW to not form societies to import species for cultural familiarity, but at the time you, too would likely have joined the Douche Bags of Britain, Bring On The Birds! Society. Don't worry, you don't have it right, either. There are plenty of things you're doing now-like the mining and carbon emissions caused in the process of creating the device into which you'll type your "Ugh!"-like response to this-that your descendants will find cringe-worthy.
