Oh poor Paia. Where are the Hawaiians? The place we enjoy eating at in Paia is Paia Fish Market. Big helpings of whatever you order, Prawns, too & salad or fries. Not terribly expensive. They opened a branch in Kihei and one in Waikiki. Not quite as good as the original, but good. We stayed in Paia at a Surfer's hostel before backpacking Haleakala. Very nice host & very nice young folks there just for surfing. Oakland CA

I live here on Maui and is the most racist place I’ve ever been. Also, the average local people are quick to hate the United States government and mainlanders, but quick to ask for handouts from the rich and the US government. The cost of living is astronomical, if your not rich, just visit. Also, there is no upscale culture such as plays, music or any type of fashion. Upside, it absolutely beautiful year round and the ocean makes it all worth wile. Many people are kind and caring, but there is a real separation in social status. Also, if you bring a care here, it’s going to get obliterated with door dings from the truest and residents alike.

We are moving to MAUI soon, I love everything you said about MAUI so far 💪🏽👍🏽👌🏽

This is very disheartening. I’m from the mainland currently trying to negotiate a contract with a local hospital in Maui. I’m an experienced medical professional that has a lot to offer. I hope I can work something out contractually because I would love to bring the help that is so desperately needed

Lots of good points! I loved living in Haiku. Your comment about leather is on point. I’m not a fan of synthetics, but ended up buying crocs because they were so easy to slip on and off and clean. Pretty much ditched all my leather after it got moldy. I loved the temperature and my skin felt fantastic. All the rainbows were amazing as well. The cannery shops are so great and have such a good community feeling.

Aww I was told it stays the warmest in the winters there.😞 My health issues see more relief from sunnier, warmer environments. Any suggestions? Also, my health has been getting so much better living in my motorhome for almost a year now in a rural area, but especially because it’s really warm now. I’m seeking a quiet, at least semi rural area I can continue to live in my motorhome. Hipcamps seem to be the best option, but it has to be in a warm, sunny area. Any suggestions?🙏🏽💜
