Introducing Levi the 1974 CJ5

Found this little gem listed locally on FB marketplace. Pretty famous jeep here in the SW. Awesome for the tight New Mexico arroyo wheeling. Great complement to Cecil the bus, NMO's dedicated overlanding rig. More Levi adventures to come.

Introducing DASH, the 11 week old Jack Russell Terrier!!!

After losing my beloved Violet to a coyote on an evening group mountain bike ride in Santa Fe more than a month ago, I was pretty distraught, depressed actually. After a couple weeks of pouting around the house, I did a quick craigslist search for JRT pups and, boom, I find this rather odd colored litter in southern Colorado. A day later, I'm driving up I25 to pick up Dash, the third JRT in our...

Winter camping in the Jemez
Просмотров 7 тыс.2 года назад
My 55th birthday was probably my best ever. Camping with my son and our dogs in the lovely Jemez Mountains northwest of Albuquerque NM. Watch while we shop locally, make an incredible camp dinner, do some epic exploring to a cliffside lunch spot in two vintage VWs and finish out the weekend at a local saloon.

At lone star barn The intersection there is Showers pass and Kneeland road I have noticed it in some of your other videos. I Worked Humboldt County roads, 27 years I plowed Snow on that road put coverts on that road. Graded That road spread Rock on that road. A lot of good memories up there.

Awesome. Good tunes too.

Great video. We must be kindred spirits because I actually own both the same tent stove and a velvet green 66 westy, but I’m probably am not ready to bust out the hole saw yet …lol. I do highly recommend you check out the little water tank available for your winnerwell tent stove. Having hot water always ready for coffee or cleanup is great. Thank you for sharing.
Awesome thx!
What a beautiful machine indeed. Thank you for sharing sir. I am looking to get a SO42 here soon that I believe is the same Velvet Green shade as yours however it has a pop top which I wonder is long enough to allow me and others to sleep up there in some hammocks... Gorgeous Jack Russell jet engine with legs you have and awesome tablet you got there. DID YOU TAKE DOWN YOUR VERMONT OVERLAND CHANNEL??? I would love to see it as well.
I love the way you think!
So freaking cool!
So fun!! Have a ‘71 bay window and would love to join on a trip like this!
👏👏👏👏
Wow súper trip
I had a split sitting in monta a planatho near mora NM and someone stole it out of the yard where I was storing it.
Thats a bugger.... sorry to hear that mate.
Less driving and more on-site content.
Great video and soundtrack! Count me in for the February 2024 SST! 🙂👍
OH boy your in for an adventure. Your right about the suspension I drove a split cross Australia in 73 when it was hundreds of miles of corrugated roads, and found out the suspension would iron out the bumps at 60 mph. I would suggest you dive into other utuber post for a collection of spares and tools. Just because you might not know how to fix something, somebody (probably in their 60s) will come along and help.
5:01 OWW! Good rule of thumb, never go down something you can't go back up..
Welcome to busdom. Watching you lug your bus up and down those hills I feel complelled to inform you that, lugging an aircooled engine is one of the WORST things you can do to your motor. Give her some beans and keep the revs up. Airflow for cooling is paramount, and keeping it a gear lower than you think will keep that fan spinning and cooling better. Also, are you still running the RGBs or as others in the 4x4 world call them portal axles. They came stock on every pre '68 VW bus and are a must for any off/rough roading. I ask because you could barely make it up that one little hill. If you have a beetle trans and straight axles the final drive will be higher(better for highway speeds) and will not be advantageous for slow offroad driving. Best of luck and maybe we will meet on a Shasta trip some day.
This has to be one of the real-est bug videos on RUclips. Thanks for posting it.
Bulli vw is not really for out back ! Not for that ! But it's enjoy ...
You do not have to be able to do the things you seem are obligatory when owning g a bus. You do as much as you can.
Love it!!! Definitely need to come out there and wheel with you
You are one cool dude man. Love your videos AND your lifestyle. Keep it up and I'll keep watching!
Every time I see the shelves in your closet I think, I've got to do that!
Thanks for the memories, I had a '57 cargo VW van, with a 1500 H block engine and doors both sides. Bought it for $75, needed only plug wires and a header exhaust. Carried 2 dirt bikes, in 1 side out the other. Wider tires on chevy rims, it was great offroad in the Florida sugar sands. Wish I still had it.
What a beautiful drive! I'm sure Dash is loving it! Sorry to hear about Violet. Dogs are family and it's tough when they leave us. We recently lost our Jack, 17.5 year old Schnauzer. We are currently on a break from dogs, but it's hard. Thanks for sharing your trip, and good luck on the full excursion, E.
Muy buenos! Saludos desde tierra del fuego!
C’est des fois pas mal de changer de musique aussi ..!😅
Love your overlanding videos. Keep them coming ✌😁
Very nice vehicle, looks like a great addition.
Great find, a classic, congratulations!
Like from Brazil!!!
Nice✌✌✌
Parabéns 👏
Great edit. So good to see some good friends having fun instead of watching some boring football game. I just couldn’t get it together this year.
You were missed Tom. Maybe see you at Ottinger again?
I have a few buses, a dog, carharts, tools...think I need to be there next year ! Years ago I was watching the shasta snow trip, and my wife walked by, what are you watching ? I bet you want to do that ? Hell ya !
Killer roadtrip
Look forward to this each year. Thanks for posting.
you’re just lucky you didn’t lose your dog getting drowned in that strong current…..not too bright or caring of your dog
