Hey, I’m Randy. I love hiking, camping and overlanding (sometimes with my family) in my Jeep Gladiator, “Blue Barron”.
6 Days In Alaska: Kenai Lake, Seward, Resurrection River, Exit Glacier | Camping | Salmon Fishing
Part 2 of our Alaska trip, 2024.
Priority in this video: catching a salmon. My 17 year old son Jordan has been dreaming of catching a salmon in Alaska for most of his life; so before heading anywhere else, we are determined to catch one here... Otherwise for the rest of this trip, Jordan would be wishing he was fishing! haha
In this video we are camping at Kenai Lake, fishing at Seward, camping at Resurrection River, Hiking to Exit Glacier at the Kenai Fjords National Park.

6 Days in ALASKA: Overlanding, Camping, and Fishing Adventure (Part 1)
Просмотров 73День назад
Alaska has been on the list for a long time. Jordan has been dreaming of catching a salmon in Alaska nearly all his life. So after years of saving and dreaming, we made it happen just before heading into his senior year of high school. Camping, fishing, kayaking, panning for gold… this was such an unforgettable adventure that we will remember for the rest of our lives. linktr.ee/randyfisher

ASMR | Solo Camping On My Own Land | Rooftop Tent | Jeep Gladiator Ecodiesel

For many years I dreamt of how cool it would be to have my own land to camp on. God has been good to me, and blessed me with this little piece of heaven on earth. The spot where I set up camp used to be the site of a hydro powered saw mill (so I was told by the previous owner). This video is a little different - you get to hear the peaceful sounds of the creek, and spring peepers. Leave a comme...

6 Days Overlanding the San Juan Mountains of Colorado in Jeep Gladiator Ecodiesel
Просмотров 2,6 тыс.5 месяцев назад
In August 2023, my seventeen year old son Jordan and I embarked on the trip of a lifetime. The goal was to Jeep, camp, and fish for six days in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. This has been something I have dreamt of doing for a long time… not just for myself and Jordan, but I also recognize the mental value of it. People vicariously experience these places through us. It’s something that i...

You planning on increasing tire size in future?
Absolutely AMAZING! Could do without the rain, but hey, its Alaska right! Good time with the boy...nothing better.
💯 🙌
Thanks for watching!
Great job! Can't wait to follow along!
Thanks for watching! New episode coming Tuesday.
Nice work as always!
Thank you!
Really appreciate this video. Mine just arrived and I had no idea where to start. Lol
Right on!👍
Do you think a truck camper would make it up to the pass? Sitting on a ram 2500 with decent clearance and 4x4. Concern is height clearance.
Shew… being top heavy would be my concern - particularly towards the top. But you could definitely get up in pretty far to camp with it.
Best Jeep I have ever owned! Thought I finally found the perfect balance for an off roader them the cancel the Eco Diesel…shame
Yeah I agree.
Very awesome to see your son so interested in these building. Seeing him reach out to touch the walls..❤❤
Good stuff!
How did u measure the angle cuts
Picked a random number 😆😆 I used an angle finder and made a template.
That’s an awesome build! I’m looking at doing something similar and may basically just steal your design. Don’t think I can come up with anything better.
Glad it helps!
Just curious what state you are in and do you have it deleted?
Pennsylvania. It is stock.
what keeps this from sliding forward or backwards? it just sits on the bed but what's holding it down?
Tonneau cover rails. They have three clamps per side.
Tonneau cover rails. They have three clamps per side.
@@traveladventurexplore what could i use if i have no cover
You should be proud of the job yall did but EVEN more than that yall did it as a team (family) and that will last forever! Thank you for showing everyone who watches have a good time doing something together and you don't have to take everything so seriously
Thanks for the comment!
All of you that have had good luck Ild like to know how often did you change oil. I only have 3000 on my echo diesel and unless someone talks me out of it I'm going to change oil every 3000 mi.
I’m usually around 8k
40k, zero issues, do my own maintenance, change the oil and filters as stated in the owner's manual. I love this JTRD.
21 rolling 30k miles. Not a damn issue either. 🤙🏼
🙌
My 2022 has 60k 0 issues love my truck (towing a 5k lbs bass boat) 🫡
🙌
are you just using the clamps for the tonneau cover to secure the brackets to the bed? or did i miss a part w/ fasteners?
Tonneau rails are clamped to the bed, pinching the L brackets for the rack in place. It’s worked well for the last two years.
I think you should make another video I liked it
🙌 glad you liked it!
Great video and awesome build. Best part is that you and your boy did this. Love it.
Thanks for the comment!
Looking for a gladiator. Torn between manual gas or ecodiesel. I guess they didn’t make a manual diesel. What are your thoughts. Good vid.
I have heard of the gassers having engine problems. But, I believe the diesel has been discontinued. Maybe you can find one used somewhere? As far as the manual, you can always throw the auto in manual mode. I do that from time to time, wheeling and downhills.
@@traveladventurexplore thank you for the response. God bless.
Hello awesome job👍 I got a question what was the engle degree? of your triangle cuts
Idk. I just used an angle finder and eyeballed it.
Sound loud for a modern diesel.
Sounds good 👍
It's a good thing you gave those hikers a lift. The guy wearing shorts could have experienced hypothermia and ended up in quite a serious situation. I know, I've been there before. I learned my lesson once while backpacking in the Shulaps Mountain range in southern British Columbia. Even though it was still officially Summer and the days were warm the temperature fell below freezing at night. I made it back to our base camp just at sundown, drenched in sweat and removed some clothing to cool off quickly. I kept the extra layers off too long and became chilled, too chilled as I became near hypothermic. I never made that mistake again and also started taking wool clothing with me which will keep you warm even if they're wet as I found out on a subsequent trip when our canoe tipped over and we fell in near freezing water. We wrung our wool clothing out and stayed toasty warm. Now, I'm much older and too broke down to go on extended backpacking trips so I enjoy the back country by driving there but I still pack my truck, even for day trips as if I was planning to spend a few days on the trail.
Wow. Good stuff!
Was thinking about taking my RAM truck up there - thanks for pounding some common sense into me!
lol. Your Ram would probably be fine. It is VERY rocky though - air down your tires! We did make it up the whole way last year. ruclips.net/video/-w8qYQRec9A/видео.htmlsi=IWZRUQAeKzq3HVuk
what's powering it?
Harbor freight 3000w inverter
Just curious, why'd you do the two 45-deg angles, vs 90-deg angle? I think it does look sweet, just curious if there's another reason too?
Completely for looks!
Did you have a nice weather
Yeah it was nice
Had my 22 Gladiator Rubicon 3.6 since Sept 22. Initially, had a warped valve cover that leaked oil, at 500 miles. Took a month to get the part. Was a very frustrating time. BUT, 37,500 miles later, I love it, has had no further issues, save for a bad O ring during an oil change. Not Jeeps fault, but likely a defect in the cheap O ring for the oil cap. I expect to be posting a 40,000 mile update soon!!!
Wow man… I can imagine that would be very frustrating. Best wishes for you.
Great dad 🤙
🙌
Mountain pie pizzas are the best. What roof top tent is that?
Smittybilt XL, first gen
Diesel power! 30 mpg On this unit at what mph?
Seems to me I was keeping it around 64/65, and babying it.
@@traveladventurexplore amazing. Are you planning On keeping it over 100k?
@@onrdetailingnews9727 yep
I hope you and your son has a good time
We did! Did you watch our overlanding Colorado movie yet?
Do you remember me from putting the floor in are house
I do
I think willys is the key 🔑 nothing crazy with technology impressive miles per gallon 👍👍
Yeah I think you have a good point there.
Nice! I love go-getter diy stuff. Any update on how its held up?
It’s held up quite well! Especially considering the minimal money I have into it, I really can’t complain. I’ve put tens of thousands in f miles on the truck with it on, including overlanding/ wheeling in Colorados San Juan Mointains. The only thing I really don’t like is the paint job - it could use powder coated.
@@traveladventurexplore I appreciate you taking the time to reply. Awesome stuff, man.
what gauge did you use on the unistrut? awesome vid by the way!
Thanks! Not sure on the gauge- I just grabbed whatever Home Depot had on the shelf.
How was your trip did you stay warm
Great trip! Yeah it wasn’t too cold - it got down to 39 one night, so it was manageable.
How are you doing I like to go for a hike
Doing good, my friend! Hoping to get out hiking some more soon!
Just saw this video on my feed. My 2021 EcoD Overland is at 43K and running strong no issues. I do all my maintenance, engine oil, diff(s), transfer case, trans service, fuel filter. Keep us posted good video subd

Ahh man. Have fun!
Awesome video thanks for sharing 👍🏽
Thanks for watching
History is treasure nailed it Jordan!
🙌
Wow quite impressive to see 80k On 3rd gen ecodiesel running strong!
🤞
The lack of production made truck rack systems that can work with tonneau covers is shocking. I'm glad I found this video.
I agree. Glad it helped!
What is the side panel peices called that you used? Great video
Glad the video helped. I’m not sure what it’s called. 🤷♂️😆
You're a GREAT dad- so good to see you working with your boy- If more man did these kind of activities-we would have way less problems in America. I will always cherish the times me and my son did these types of things. Thanks for sharing with us.
Thanks for the comment. 🙌
Wisconsin. Why didn’t you guys go on Black Bear Pass? I’d love to go to Colorado one day next do a trip like that. I have a 04 Rubicon with the exact tent and I just bought the annex in December but haven’t used it yet Thanks for including that in the video to get a feel for it. Keep making great videos. I’d love to start a RUclips channel soon.
Thanks for the comment! Black Bear… it was opened up by the off road enthusiasts, but not officially opened by the county. The day we would have gone up, someone else got two tires off the side and blocked the trail for several hours. He was lucky and was safely rescued, but we had to save that trail for next time.
That’s one thing I worry about when you spent all the time planning and not to mention gas prices these days and you drive all the way out there to get slapped in the face like that.
@@TJLee80 yep, it happens. Still a great time though. Definitely worth it.
Thanks for joining us! What State are you watching from?
