Cute quick project with a pretty kit.

Beautiful kit and good idea for a quick project. The angle of your camera is a bit strange, skew, in the end of the video, but I do understand that more space is handy.
@@memoryjournalsbyyvon Thank you for the angle feedback Yvon. Ita conundrum indeed. Too many intractable elements make it tough. I'm glad you liked the project ❤🙌

Thanks so much Nat, for watching and commenting, I appreciate it. 💖
Did you make the old looking tape yourself? If so, how? I cannot believe the amount of talent that exists from ALL OF who participated! Excellent!
I agree with you, this was an amazing collab of creative genius! I did make the tape. I used real vintage cellophane tape and applied Distress inks on top and brush or sprayed them on the tape. Couldn't be easier to get different effects. The key is cellophane tape I think. Mine don't rub off and last a long time. Put them on freezer paper to make and store them. You can check out my video "Framing faux tin types with book pages" to hear/see more about my process. Thank you for commenting and watching!
I posted the finished results in the Community, click the tab above. I altered both considerably, so take a peek! Thanks for joining me today.

I just have to try faux tintypes. I love them and have some really nice ones in my collection. Would love to replicate them and love your process!
I'm so happy to hear that you're excited to try them Dody! So fun and can be done quickly and easily too. Thank you for watching and commenting 💖🙌
Thanks for sharing your process Kimberly. I don't think I've ever seen a genuine tin type photograph. When you were working with the aluminium piece I was wondering if it's likely to cut your fingers, is the edge sharp? I love the pattern layering that the transparent sticker provides.
Yes, it sure is, but I haven't had a problem so far. Your scissors get sharpened in the process too! Thank you for watching and commenting Norma 💖💥
@JournalBreezeYT Always a plus to have a 'two birds with one stone' situation'.
These are so very lovely my friend, Such beautiful work XXX

These are so lovely Kimberly! Thank you for sharing this idea!♥
@@ShabbyCottageStudio Thank you so much Gail ❤ and for sharing!
It was fun to see you experiment with the heavier sticker paper. I really like it on the aluminum. It appears that the darker images might be easier to work with on the patterned paper. I'm looking forward to trying this technique! Thank you, Kimberly.
Thank you Anne. I'm glad you enjoyed this video and I can't wait to see what you do! It's fun to explore to find what works best to get the desired effect. I've played around with that one a bit and will post a pic in the community tab and IG when I'm done. The heavier paper was the background photo paper for the tin type. The sticker paper is lightweight 🙌 ❤ Thank you for sharing today!
@@JournalBreezeYT Thank you for your message. (I need to get back to Instagram.) For me, the sticker paper is heavier because I have only used Avery full size labels. I just purchased the sticker paper you used and I'm so excited to experiment with it. I'm sure it will be better to use on aluminum. Thank you, again!

Thank you so much, it's nice to hear that. 🙌
I love these papers and I love the idea of those see through stickers! Thanks so much! Xo
My pleasure my friend. Thank you for watching and commenting. 💖💥
Such an interesting collection of papers. The first piece you did has a real fresco vibe. Love the transparency of the angel print, it looks like the sticker sheet is just one huge transparent label, is that right? I've never thought of using anything like that. I love playing with digital layering but this opens up different possibilities.
I'm glad to hear that it widrns your imagination and tool box Norma, that's what matters most to me. Yes, it's one big sticker sheet, 8.5x11 here. I agree the other has a fresco vibe for sure. Thanks so much for watching and commenting 💖 😊
Hi Kimberly, it was so fun to watch your projects evolve! I love the way you combined Sam Poole's beautiful angel with the Chapter One papers - exquisite! It was also fun to see you use the sticker paper. I'm curious what you will do with the stickers on the tin can. I hope you will record your ideas for this. Thank you for the inspiration!
Hi Anne! Thanks so much for joining me! You're right, time flew by! I'll film a part 2 to play with the tin (aluminum) and stickers. I have an idea I'll make using two different methods. Thank you for the feedback! 🙌💥❤
I enjoyed the history you incorporated into this journal! Great job. Very lovely ❤
I'm so glad you enjoyed the historical aspect of this journal. The final flip will cover much more 😊 Thank you so much for watching and commenting! ❤
My word that's a chunky one! The doily at the start of the second signature is so delicate ❤ So nice to see the embroidery transfer patterns, remind me of many my mother had.
@@NormaBennettSYD it is delicate and quite unusual to my eye. It won't add as much as others would to the growing chunkiness 😄 Thanks so much for joining me today Norma 🙌 💞
It is already a thing of wonder. 😍
@@denisecope I'm speechless Denise! It is indeed a thing ☺️ Thank you so much for watching and sharing 🙌 💖
Kimberly, I can't tell you how much I love this. The ephemera is so special and amazing. You have curated this so beautifully. I love the American quality most especially. Jane Addams was perfectly placed on her page, and I think that woman in the house on stilts fit so wonderfully in that torn corner of the envelope. I grew up in Chicago - North Shore (Wilmette, Deerfield and then in far west suburbs, Naperville.) Would love to know where you were. I am enjoying this with you so much!
Aww...Dody! To think that we were practically neighbors in the northwest suburbs of the city. I'm giving you an energetic hug, I hope you feel it. I see we both moved to warmer climates too! Thank you for hanging in with me over the months it's taken so far making this journal. I'm so happy you're enjoying it with me. 🥰 🙌 💖
Hi Kimberly, this is such a fabulous collection of thoughtfully done pages and chosen ephemera that richly captures this time in history - I love it! Thank you!
Your share makes me very happy Anne! Thank you for watching and commenting 💖 😊
Look at all of the beautiful pages! Love the ephemera, too!
And can you believe not a French page or word among them! 😉😄 Thanks so much for watching and sharing, Rhonda 💖
What a stack of old bits and pieces! I quite regularly go to estate sale auctions, mostly looking for old books, textiles and photos, and it often amazes me that the families have no interest in these things! One house had been lived in by three generations of a family and there were photos etc covering all those years in the attic but when the last two family members, two sisters who never married, passed away the relatives had no interest whatever in the treasures, unfathomable to me.
I think about that too! I wouldn't want my stuff being sold at a fair. It takes me months to years to be able to actually go through and to use ephemera when there is a mass of it from one house or person. It feels like I'm intruding on their privacy, and I don't want them to feel that way. I believe they know. One time I felt I wasn't supposed to use it or have them, so I packaged it all up for privacy and put it i9n the trash cans. After that, there was a more peaceful quiet feeling in the room where I stored them. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Norma!! :) :)
@JournalBreezeYT So important to pay heed to these feelings, you did the right thing for sure. There are some people who go to the auctions for the purpose of acquiring the old photos etc and then research to find wider family members who are happy to get them back. That's a nice thing to do too.
@@NormaBennettSYDlove hearing that some people do that! Genealogy aficionados I imagine. TFS 💞
You must have been heartbroken when you realised such a special piece of historical textile had disappeared, my heart sank in sympathy! Intrigued that you sometimes use vanilla as an aging agent, your papers sure would smell good. You have quite a collection of old papers to work with it seems but just the same I'm hearing you about it being challenged not to have full on pattern in your hands. I'm a real chicken when it comes to using real old papers, I'm so scared I'm going to wreck it and then it's gone forever! At least with digitals you just need to do a reprint and the world is back to rights again. I've been looking through some Australian1930s women's magazines I bought a while ago and thinking how I can use them, there are some great illustrations, but I'm still working up the courage to use them. And as for old French documents that's a whole other level of anxiety!!!
Oh I hear you about the anxiety! It feels like a big commitment when it comes to using old papers. but when I do, it's lovely. The loss of George's fabric was major. I've not seen it foor sale since. Thanks do much fof watching and sharing Norma 🤗💕💕

Kimberly, this is gorgeous - I absolutely love the construction and especially the cover. Amazing stitching. I had so many favorite parts, I'll just say everything is my favorite, but I love the way the cover goes together best, using the real ribbon to mimic the one on the paper. That is what I love about the particular piece in the kit. All lovely...just beautiful.
