Thanks for commenting. We really appreciate it! The 90s were awesome racing.
watching from Knoxville Tennessee U.S.A. Great video
Awesome! Thank you for letting us know. Hope you enjoy the blast from the past. Cheers!
A young Ben Bray in the Junior Dragster final. Safe to say, he would go on to bigger and better things.
Not wrong
Can't wait to see more action 👍👌 any from the early 2000s?
Glad you're enjoying the shows. We do have broadcast tapes from the early 2,000s but unfortunately they haven't been digitised yet. We hope to be able to get them done in the future. Cheers!
Awesome video. Have you got any videos from the same era from calder park?
No, sorry. We only have TV broadcast tapes and rights from Willowbank Raceway. Cheers!
The 1953 Studebaker is the best looking race car ever built

pretty sure the glen mikres car was an ex mcdonalds car cory mac drove. i hate how f/c never got anywhere in australia. all 10 year old me wanted was for jim read to put one of his engines into jim and steve reed's cutty.
Correct - The Rapisarda car was an ex Maccas ride from the US
@@australiandragracevideos i had a 1:25 scale model of the maccas car back in the 90s

ROB OBERG definitely a need for an autocue LOL
That would have been nice
Those little baby jet engines are absolutely not from an F-111 😂 They are Lear Jet engines equipped with re-heat at best lol
Top doorslammer is so good. But the wild bunch days were awesome.
The WIld Bunch Days were certainly a lot more fun.
Awesome videos. Greta work.
Thanks so much Jason. Glad you're enjoying them.
You said part two would be full of carnage, and you were right. Also, a lot of great racing action.
Glad you enjoyed it
I remember this meeting like it was yesterday, even though it's coming up to 26 years later. Gratz loosing the rear end is still hard to comprehend, even after all these years. Appreciate the effort it takes to make these available on RUclips (and to act 'surprised' after the fact, after commentating during the live event.
It was such an up and down event but really came together to make great TV.
I was there it happened right in front of me..never forget it he only needed to break the beams but he fully sent it and some the rear end stopped directly in front ..😅

@@australiandragracevideos Thanks for letting me know. I can't wait for 1999 season. That's another year of top doorslammer I didn't see much of.
What's happening with the older shows? No more?
Sorry for the delay. We'll get more free shows up when we can.
Another Great video, Thank you Guys.
Our pleasure!
Seen the bandag bullet here in nz what a show that thing put on
Absolutely!
The Bandag Bullet, as always, putting on a great show.
Frank was always a fantastic showman
Kym Petterwood's Firebird was easily one of the best looking cars in Australian drag racing at this time.
Couldn't agree more!
Thank you for the great video guys.

Love the high-winding sound of those small blocks in Pro Stock.
They spin them hard
Thank you for another Friday Fix,thanks Guys
Thanks Cliff. We're glad you're enjoying the shows and really appreciate you taking the time to comment. Cheers!
Neat seeing the Pro Stocks and Victor Bray running in Super Comp, a sportsman class. You'd never see pro class cars running in a sportsman class over here.
Couldn't agree more! It was common back then as the guys from the Pro Classes often used these events as testing opportunities while getting some TV time for their sponsors.
Do you have 1998 Winternationals?
Yes! They will be coming up in a few weeks.

I love the Top Comp class. Combination of blown dragsters and doorslammers, and you never know who would show up in that class.
Top Comp was the predecessor of Supercharged Outlaws and was included in most episodes of the Drag Racing program from Willowbank Raceway through the years we produced the show so keep watching for plenty more. Cheers!
Thank you for my weekly fix Guys. Love it.
Our pleasure!
Scotty Cannon is an absolute legend.
Yep!
So is Victor.
@@AUmarcus So true.
Scotty is an asshole. I met him at Greer Dragway, he couldn't say anything friendly. He's a total prick.
So glad the algorithm found this channel for me, and I have subbed. Great action as always from Willowbank.
We're glad you found us and thanks for helping the algorithm along by commenting. Much appreciated. Cheers!
Interesting is how Troy Critchley would later drive for Johnny Rocca in the United States.
Yes! Troy built quite a career in the U.S.
Some great drag racing action from Australia. This American viewer can't wait to see more.

You guys have way too much Fun
It was a lot of fun - usually.
Is there any videos of Ravenswood international Raceway?
Drag Racing 97 was the television show paid for by Willowbank Raceway that I produced to broadcast its events on free to air and Foxsports at the time. That's why we are only putting up Willowbank events. We would love to have other events to put up but the original producers of coverage of those events have the content and own the copyright. Our greatest wish is that a central archive of all Australian Drag Racing television could be created. We would happily support it regardless of sanction or politics. Hope that explains it for you. Cheers - Rob Oberg.

How long did Super Eliminator stay a class? Bandag Bullet is awesome.
Super Eliminator was run by Willowbank as a combined Modified -Super Sedan field at non track championship events such as the Wild Bunch Titles but not for too long. The Bandag Bullet is a beast and Frank is a really nice guy.
