    The quilt I need to finish is done in rows, so that is how I should stitch it in rows?

    What thread do you use on the machine top and bobbin?

    • @rnjoynlife9348
      @rnjoynlife9348 5 месяцев назад

      Hello, thanks for your question. I apologize if I didn’t say in the video but I believe I was using a general 90 wt bobbin thread, (I tend to use prewounds for everything) and a 60wt poly embroidery style thread on my machine. I have a Brother Luminaire embroidery sewing combo.

    I am jealous! I live full time in a "new to us" Grand Design 5th wheel. Someone before us took out the bunk beds and made it into an office. I plan to use the space for my sewing room. I have a few questions for you. Are your items bolted down for travel days so they don't shift? How do you store those items on travel days?

    • @rnjoynlife9348
      @rnjoynlife9348 6 месяцев назад

      Most of my tools go into the ottoman and the wall cabinet. The wall cabinet is screwed to the wall. Otherwise, I just use ratchet straps to secure the rest on travel days. I have to make room for things like ladders and the grill on travel day also. My sewing machines go into their cases and are stored in the bedroom for travel. It took me a while to get arranged but now I can set up or pack up in a couple hours. Happy trails.

    Thank you. I’m going to try this on my inaugural 1 inch hexagon epp quilt. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to hand sew over 2000 hexagons, now I’m less worried 😅

    I'm so happy finding you here on RUclips! I'm planning to stay in my new to me 37' toyhauler for the summer while trying to figure out what I want in a house. I ride motorcycles, so that's the main reason for the toyhauler. But I also have a small Machine Embroidery and sewing business that I started a couple years ago. I'm now retired, and moving closer to my daughter and granddaughters. I would also like to be a part-time Snowbird. I really enjoyed watching your tour of your sewing area. My Embroidery Machine is Brother Innovis 6000D which is a sewing/embroidery combo like yours. Travel safe, and keep on Sewing!!

    Do you recommend this technique for a child’s quilt? Not sure it would be strong enough to hold up. I have been itching to try EPP. Thank you for the close up on your stitching. Good video.

    • @rnjoynlife9348
      @rnjoynlife9348 7 месяцев назад

      Hi! If I were making for a child and did it on machine, I would use Helen Stubbings paper (that you can sew through and you won’t need to remove) and use a wider zigzag in coordinating thread. You’ll see the stitches but that’s okay, in my opinion anyway. Here’s a link to Helen’s paper on Amazon. She sells precuts also but not sure if you can get bigger than 1 inch on Amazon. She’s out of Australia. Look for her videos on RUclips for hand stitching help. a.co/d/7tt9iMv

    I would love to be you! Our RV is a 30 ft class C so definitely not as much room. I still take things to sew but usually hand work. I recently bought a Lk-150 flat bed Knitting machine which is all plastic except for the needles and is very lightweight. I hope to take it when we camp this year. We are still working full-time.

    • @rnjoynlife9348
      @rnjoynlife9348 8 месяцев назад

      We’ve been traveling full time now for almost 4 years. The first 2 1/2 years I was still working full time also. The garage worked so well as an office/sewing space combo since I could close the door to the living space and have privacy for work meetings, etc. I’m so happy with the space as a full sewing space now that I’m retired. I do a lot of hand work either sewing, embroidery or crocheting when we are moving a lot, but it’s nice to have access to all my stuff in that room anytime I need it. Happy stitching and enjoy your travels!

    I wonder if this would work on older machines. I need to use one hand to hold the reverse button and my zig zag stitch confuses me on what side it is going to travel to on a turn!!

    • @rnjoynlife9348
      @rnjoynlife9348 Год назад

      It should work on any machine that can do a zigzag. I suggest you just try it and practice. If you go slow enough you will get the hang of the stitch and where it’s going.

    This method would be fantastic if you used a leave in "template" like hexiform... that way you could use a decorative stitch and not have to be so precise. 💖🌞🌵😷

    • @rnjoynlife9348
      @rnjoynlife9348 Год назад

      I agree! I was just testing it out for my DIL. This method worked okay but have to take it slow.

  • @suzisaintjames
    @suzisaintjames Год назад

    I think this method would be fantastic for someone who loves EPP and has trouble holding a needle for any length of time (like arthritis etc.). I also think that, for me, the auto start and stop features of this method would be a must, as hand tieing all those threads, although possible, would take the momentum out of the project. 💖🌞🌵😷

    Isn’t it really sad that a 1/4 inch isn’t a 1/4 inch on ALL rulers, no matter what company the ruler comes from. 😢😢 I figured that out early in my sewing journey and I have stuck with the same company. Love your color choices of your fabrics. Have a great day.

I have a phone selfie stick type arm clamped on to my sewing table. I zoom in or out based on what I’m showing using the basic iPhone video options. Hope that helps.
