This is about the Chinese creation myth of Pangu wo split the heaven and the earth using his axe Kai Tian, and drawing parallels with Lay's creation of M-Pop (mix of traditional Chinese sounds with western music). Lay is the Chinese member of EXO and has been busy doing his own thing in China for a few years now. His music is a mix of M-pop and more western styles. Thank you for your reaction but wonder if you did notice more than the Weekend [or DPR Ian] flavor? You really didn't say. I think this track got inspired by different artists but Chan pulled it off beautifully with his own voice and concept. The director Novvkim is a genius and what he and Chan DID [in a little more than 3 minutes] was so very artistically pleasing ~ better than the entire 'Twilight' franchise... This year's solo stage was incorporate into the MV [like an infinite loop at the beginning] so the concept was already out there months ago, but Stay didn't realize it until this dropped. 🖖🏽

Yes, Chan is a big fan of The Weeknd, when they were in Australia a few months ago one of the other members posted that they were at a Weeknd concert. Plus Chan has played a lot of his songs when he'd go live and talked about his love for The Weeknd songs for ages, even singing some I think, and I think he's mentioned that he's been influenced by him multiple times.

Felix wrote and produced this based on Beauty and the Beast from the pov of the Beast. Each member has one solo song and mv for the current release and are performing it on their world stadium tour. He's a global ambassador and coordinator for Louis Vuitton and walked their runway this year. LV created custom fits for his performances of this song on tour. So he is frequently seen wearing Louis Vuitton and they create content for him as they did for his tour stop in Sydney for his Unfair performance.
