Phrasing - a Marimba Tutorial - by Francesca Santangelo & Bergerault
Просмотров 4,4 тыс.5 лет назад
Francesca Santangelo presents her own basic approach to the topic of musical phrasing. She provides some essential insights to a way of modifying a phrase "intuitionally". Depending on the level of technique and experience this model can be applied to many musical situations. The video was recorded in the artist workshop of Manuela Geugelin November 2018: manuela-geugelin.de/ The video-producti...

@@santangelopercussion - Happy New Year Francesca! Yes! Here is to a MUCH better 2021!
Good to see you again!
Thanks!
Bravissima Francesca! Marco Toro
Grazie mille.
this is like all four rotations combined into one. it's gorgeous, but god, sammut has a style and he sticks with it, huh
You and Eric Sammut are making marimba my new favorite instrument. After watching this performance, I started looking at more of the great performances on RUclips and I simply had no idea how large a repertoire of really wonderful modern compositions for marimba there is. I'm excited to start exploring this whole new world - thanks for the introduction!
brilliant
THX, Teresa!
Sammut is a wonderful composer but I don't think I've seen anything by him done that passionately before. I felt the music. And THAT is music.
Dear Brian, thank you very much for your comment.
Beautiful playing!
Dear David, thank you very much! My best wishes to you!
Wow! Bravissima! Sangue non mente....A presto! :)
Ohh this makes me want to play again so bad. Havent had the opportunity since leaving highschool. Never got to finish learning this piece. Some day maybe. This sounded gorgeous, very well controlled
What mallets and in what order are you using?
Fantastic!
Great! which mallet do you use in the piece?
Juana Castro Thanks. I took the Eric Sammut "ES 16" from mostlymarimba to record the video.
Bravissima Francesca!
Thank you Giovanni.
If replaced keiko stick I would like to ask what kind of hardness of the stick for
I have stopped playing marimba for about 3 years now because of work. I quit before I fully mastered that piece. You just gave me the will to play again. Thank you for this beautiful moment :)
I feel honored. Thank you for that comment! I wish you a good "restart". Thank you very much.
Great job at making this look so seamless and relaxed, it's like you're not even trying at all. Amazing musicality and artistry.
+Jacob Keizer I am happy to read what is for me important to perform. Thanks for your observation. Thanks for your words..
I think you did an amazing job I'm playing this piece for my UIL competition and I use this video to critique my sound and etc so thanks so much for posting this
+yumon king - it is an important feedback for me. I believe this is how people should use the web - to inspire and to be inspired and to apreciate art and the ones who do it. Thank you.
gorgeous! Can't wait to get my new Bergerault Marimba...hope to meet you some day...all the best
she forget all accent
she doesn't have balance. i don't know why it video have many 'like'
Nice flow on the marimba! Especially in 2:45! Such looseness and free...! Excellent job! :)
Thank you all for your beautiful comments. I appreciate that very much!
Truly one of the most beautiful marimba performances I've seen to date! You moved so elegantly and the sound was so rich and full. The piece itself was magnificently scored and kept me engaged throughout, both melodically and rhythmically. I particularly appreciated your facial expressions because they added to the overall feel of the piece. Truly outstanding, and it makes me want to work even harder to be the best percussionist I can be. Thank you.
Luke Moyta - thank you for your words. Best wishes for your plans!
Great Pacing and sensitivity!
Beautiful photography! And of course, beautiful performance.
warum nur die Hälfte? aber sonst ganz stark :)
thx for that wonderful playing + video + sound
moreausylvain I have seen your projects. Great work! and thanks for your comment. About the video - i agree -Mr. Aljosha Hofmann did a great job. About the possibility of making a good sound - i have to thank also Bergerault.
Ottimo ! Complimenti !
Bravissima!
1:57 That was amazing sounding
this is so good, i mean great...staging sound performance, excellent, thank you
Wonderful, wonderful performance. Beautifully played and beautifully shot. The grain in the wood seen from above - incredible music coming through this beautiful organic medium. To me, this is what it's all about! Thank you so much!
Absolutely!
incredible!
How big a the compromisses, if I want to play it on a 4,5 Marimba (until the low a)? Do you now a way to add the tones to a smaller Marimba?
very nice triple laterals!
How long did it take you to learn this?
Your videos are so wonderful! I wish there was more than two :)
Bravissima Francesca!! un abbraccio!
I absolutely love the Burton version! Unfortunately I have not found the score for it anywhere. I have gone ahead and purchased this arrangement for marimba anyway as it is just as beautiful (I love your interpretation by the way) and will go ahead with learning it on the marimba. I will figure it out, though. Thanks! Keep uploading to RUclips, I would love to see more of your videos.
triple lat swag
Hey Joseph, you may miss one ocatve on vibraphone. One may transpond it one ocatve higher but not without serious compromises. As far as I know there are no written arrangements for vibraphone. A very impressive way of interpretation you may find if you take a look at Gary Burton playing Libertango on Vibraphone.
The Mallets I used were the Eric Sammut Series "ES 16"
No ES12 in bass mallet?
@@rylie0812 Hi, no, that was a set of ES 16. But now I´d play it with heavier mallets, because it is less work for me. I drop the mallets more. If you have any questions about it, feel free to email me and I would get into more detail.
precisely the J.Kolberg Solo 4
Wonderful! Do you think this score might be compatible with playing the piece on the vibraphone?
i think she somehow read the tempos in the wrong place but okay
Really enjoy your playing
You oughta change the search tags to "Chameleon" instead of the "e" with the accent.
