    To follow up, I checked the Leadville results and see you got 13th place and are a mere 4 hours from beating the record set by that Roche guy. Frigging awesome. I think you can get it next year with a couple adaptions to your race regime. First, the new shirt, which we already discussed. Second, more petroleum jelly and talc for those particular areas. Third, you need to be able to take a good dump before the race starts. I have heard that eating a certain food will induce that BM you need. Its called an In-n-Out Burger. Fantastic job Cody! Been waiting for your video on your race. If you're not trail pooping, and falling, you're not running hard enough!! Some suggestions: -I think you'd love a Naked Running Band, and using the Camelbak soft flask in 21oz, and tuck in either another 21oz empty or a 17oz empty, and use the 2nd flask in sections of a race where you need 2, or you want to carry water to put on your hair and shirt if it's hot. You can "holster" that empty one, between the Band and your hip, because the soft flasks are completely flat when empty. That belt you're wearing is no bueno, and it doesn't even have compartments on the front... useless. (you can see me wearing the Band, loaded, in my vids. Been using one since Feb '19) -You might like swapping in 50/50 with GU Roctane -Take a look at the way donuts are made, and the nasty oil they fry in, and maybe that's not the best for a runner's racing stomach. -Guys are having good luck with the balm used by dairy farmers on cow teets, and it's cheap. With a Naked Running Band, you could carry a small zip-lock baggy with some in it, and turn the baggy inside-out to apply it, and then zip the bag back up and stow it back in the Band for the next use. You could also carry some TP, and get that restocked at the crewed aid stations. -Would you run cooler if you took the ball cap off until you really needed it, and kept your hair wet? You've got a big head of hear, so packing that sweaty hear in under a cap, in the heat, and preventing the head from cooling... brutal. There's a huge volume of blood flow through the head, and cooling it would make you feel better. -You might find white arm sleeves are fantastic in the heat. They keep the sun off your arms, and they get sweaty (you can put creek water on them) and then your arms swinging back and forth, turn into giant radiators. Pretty amazing. Unbutton most of the shirt so it billows and allows air in on your chest, and you're golden. -Fresh, very ripe, pineapple, and peeled "cutie" tangerines are heaven. Look up the nutritional facts for both, and it's huge. They're really easy on the stomach, and they're just a ton of juice, so they are great. Carry a zip-lock baggy of them, and pick away between aid stations.

    • @Cody-does-things
      @Cody-does-things 6 дней назад

      Wow. So much wealth of info here I truly appreciate it. You are very right. I saw a lot of people with the naked bands and I think that’ll be the way to go for sure. Definitely need more water as well, especially on the hope pass section so having a larger flask and a backup would be perfect. Donuts - yeah bad call on my part it won’t happen again. Especially since I got those at Walmart so they weren’t even good if I wasn’t running 100 miles lol. I have arm sleeves but they’re black so I’ll look into the white ones - makes sense to keep the sun off. I’m a huge advocate of fruit so that’ll take no convincing. And any anti chafe method is better than my current plan so I’ll try and find some of that cow lube! Thanks again for watching and for the advice. I’m still so new and learning so much and I really appreciate you!
