Porn Rewires Your Brain (EP. 234)

Justin and Tony join the pod for the month of August as we dive into overcoming lust, sexual sddiction and pornography. It's a topic and struggle that the Church and men in general have a hard time talking about. This episode we are talking about How Sexual Addiction Rewires the Brain. God designed us for intimacy and connection. That design is broken when we replace healthy relationships and things with unhealthy relationships. Pornography creates a chemical dependency. It's proven that sexual addiction actually changes and rewires your brain.
When we continue in the same addiction/pattern, the neurons form ...

Thanks for sharing your story Marlin! Incredible!
Powerful story!!
people can't handle criticism; that's why the don't have friends.
It's definitely a complex issue. However, when you can find the right person who is vulnerable, loving but also open to constructive criticism... you could have a deep meaningful friendship that lasts forever.
I don't have any friends. I just know a lot of people. I like it that way. People are complicated.
People are complicated, but that's the true beauty of friendship. You need to have someone in your life who is not only supporting you, but correcting you. Complicated can be challenging but uplifting. Friends are important - thank you for your comment!
Friends are fake.
Part of it seems to be that historically, men have needed to form units, be those military, hunting parties, labor gangs, etc., so they simply bond differently. Men need to be able to work closely with, and rely almost totally upon, other guys - whether they like them or not. It's a goal-driven relationship, not an emotional one.
Phenomenal talk. Just what I needed to hear. So many golden quotes and takeaways here. Thank you
Well presented! Truths we men need to hear. If even Jesus enjoyed friends, why shouldn't we?
You believe fairy tales.
You think deep meaningful friendships between men are fairy tales? Sounds like you need some better friends!
@@men_of_iron no. Jesus is a fairy tale.
@@Masterpeace777 wrong. Denying the existence of Jesus is illogical
@@men_of_iron It is the most logical thing ever. Believing fairy tales is illogical. And even if he did exist, he was the supremacist subversive love-your-enemy hate-your-family son of a scumbag genocidal infanticidal genital-mutilating womb-ripping maniac.
Was Alexander the Great a fairly tale? Ghangus Khan? More was written about Jesus than either of these fellas. The fact that more than 90% of His closest friends died horribly for a "fairy tale" proves you wrong on every level. What would you die for? Certainly not a lie or a fairy tale. These were real men in real situations following a very real God.
I've been feeling very convicted on this topic recently. All of my closest friends except one are non-believers. They're not the worst of people, but I've begun to realize that spending time with them feels like moving 2 steps forward and 3 steps back in my walk with Christ. I recognize that this is due to my lack of will and discipline in allowing myself to backslide into a lifestyle that is worldly but I've realized that in this season in my life I need to reduce time spent physically and in communication with them. It's probably the hardest step I've had to take in my walk with Christ and I just pray that anyone going through the same thing find peace and purpose. You don't have to abandon your people forever, but make sure your connection with the Lord is first and if something is separating you from that, make sacrifices.
Well said
I love what you guys are doing in these videos. Thank yall for your work.
Only recently did I find a good crew of guys who value biblical values and I can talk about with the things that matter. Intentionality is very important.
Very important! Surround yourself with people who want you to spiritually succeed 👍🏽
I appreciate this. One of the hardest things I'm trying to beat in American culture is the suppression of genuine emotion. I get choked up when the Holy Spirit moves in me; more often than not I push that down because it is not masculine in our culture to cry. Crying in a group of men is NOT a good first impression. They don't want to see it, and I don't want to do it. When a man cries, EVERYONE is left not knowing how to react. Most of the time I stomp on that feeling, and stifle the power of the Holy Spirit in the process. Help me on that one Lord.
Wow, powerful stuff! Thanks for sharing your story Rick!
👏👏
Incredible testimony Rick!
As a dad with little kids this episode was so beneficial! Thanks Trav and Scott!
To claim that gods character is merciful and humble and loves justice means that either this speaker is being intentionally deceitful or is entirely uneducated on scripture. If he were merciful, he wouldn’t have killed 99.9% of all live on earth with a global flood. If he were humble, 4/10 commandments wouldn’t have been about only worshipping him. If he cared about justice, he wouldn’t punish finite crimes on earth with infinite punishment. This take is just silly
This sounds like someone who has never actually read the Bible. It is easy to pick the parts of a story you don't like and fit it into your argument, however it will result in you missing the entire meaning of the narrative. We'd suggest for you to start in Genesis and work your way through The Gospels!
Incredible night!
What a night!!🔥
Biblical, systematic (required) tithes weren't based on income. They were received as consumable items and specifically purposed towards the Levitical theocracy, the poor, and for consumption and sharing at the festival(s). There's no such thing as a biblical tithe received from earned wages. The narrative in Malachi 3 was towards the Levitical Priests (read Malachi 1:6 and 2:1) who were indicted for not bringing all the tithe items they collected, likely keeping the better parts of it for themselves. "Food in my house" is literal, the storehouse is a room in the temple where consumable items were stored, and the "blessing" was rain.
So good Trav!
RIGHT O N!!!!!! My Mother taught us early. That's the proper thing to do.
great episode gents!
