Disembarkation. Flight Delays, Plane Struck By Lightning & EMERGENCY Landing! 40+ Hours Traveling
Today, I disembarked from the cruise ship in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and I traveled to Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam to fly home. At check-in, I was nearly denied boarding because I use a ventilator. Severe weather caused many flight delays, and while flying, my airplane was struck by lightning. We had to make an emergency landing, and I was left stranded at the airport. Eventually, I made it home after 40+ hours of traveling! #cruising #emergencylanding #lightning #travel #godismystrength

Cruising Day 11. I Can't Find My Tour Group! Stavanger Norway, Whiskey Falls, Pulpit Rock & More!
Просмотров 104День назад
Today, our cruise ship arrived in Stavanger, Norway. I was supposed to take a fjord tour to the stunningly beautiful Lysefjord and see the incredible Whiskey Falls, Vagabonds Cave and Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen). However, the instructions I was given for where I was to meet my tour were not clear and rather ambiguous. After searching and searching, a kind woman was able to figure out where I had...

Today, out cruise ship stopped in the stunning city of Alesund, Norway. Unfortunately, it was raining hard for most of the day, and my scooter stopped working. I am not sure if it was from the rain or from going up and down the many hills in Alesund. I was very happy that although the scooter was not working, I was able to eventually make it back on board the ship and go on an amazing backstage...

    Helly My Dear and Precious Friend Beautiful Scenery with That Big Massive Rock with The Bridge. The Footage is just breath taking that you took it made me feel I am right there with you. I really like the small communities with the housing along the water way and how the crew stopped to just feed the goats how sweet. Whiskey Falls is breath taking and just being on that boat tour you really captured Norway Beauty. I Felt So Sorry for you with the cold temperatures that if I was there I would of offered you another Big Warm Coat. I Hope it was warmer inside your cruise ship? Oh my! You're good!!! I'm impressed! But isn't it pathetic that we have to act stupid and hold a carrot on a stick to get the medical "professional" to do what they're supposed to do without their ignorant ego becoming hostile and irate and sabotaging their own patients well being so they can feel competent in their job and their body?

      When I was in medical school, a professor (medical doctor) told my class, "About 90% of patients will tell you what is wrong with them in the first 5 minutes of the appointment. Don't waste the next 10 minutes of the appointment telling the patient he is wrong. Believe the patient. It will save you a lot of time, frustration and lawsuits." (I wish more doctors followed this advice.)

    Couple of questions Did you have a G / J tube prior to TPN. If you have a G tube do you do trickle feeds? How long can you last without been connected to humidified air? Do you need help from anyone with activities of daily living? Why will you always have a trache? Can you show us your bed set up as look different when showed last video? Do you have an electric profiling bed? What type of mattress have as spend a lot of time in bed- is it an air mattress?

    • @GodisMyStrength
      @GodisMyStrength 22 дня назад

      Hello. Thank you for your questions. Before I had TPN, I had a J-tube. The J-tube was connected to a feeding tube pump. If I can use a nebulizer and run saline through the nebulizer and into my lungs, I can last a few days without humidified air. If I cannot use a nebulizer, I can last about 6-8 hours without humidified air. My family helps from time to time if I need help with activities of daily living. I have a trach because I have respiratory failure due to Mitochondrial disease. I need to connect the trach to a ventilator. For my bed setup, I use a regular bed with a regular mattress.

      Thank you for sharing some of your story with me. I am sorry you are going through so much. For me, I always remind myself of everything I can do. A long time ago, I was extremely upset because I could no longer eat, had a feeding tube and was bed-ridden. I cried out to God, "What good is my life, if all I can do is breathe?" In 2017, my breathing deteriorated to the point of me needing a tracheostomy tube and ventilator. I suddenly remembered me being mad about only being able to breathe. I struck me as ironic. What I would do to be able to breathe on my own. What I would do if I could live without needing a tracheostomy tube and ventilator. I had no idea how precious of a gift breathing is. After that happened to me, I praise God for everything I can do because tomorrow I might not be able to do it.

    Just a small anecdote for you. I went on a once in a lifetime trip to Yellowknife in Canada to watch the Northern lights. (we couldn't, it was overcast the entire trip) While there, the charger for my bi-pap broke off. I had never noticed that it was turning or kinked or anything. Without the cable I could't charge the bi pap and without it I can't breathe for long. It wasn't as urgent as what happened to you but I found out about it when I woke up and instead of a fully charged battery it was totally empty. There was no place nearby to buy a cabel of thet type and fixing it was very hard, espcecially with the presuure of me breathing labouriously. So I'll taek your recent experience into account and I hope you check your charger before you travel again. I'm so inspired to watch you travelling. I feel so afraid of agreeing to the tracheostomy as I feel that would change everything forever. Take care

    When you go on excursions do you walk or use the wheelchair? How are things accessible on excursions? When did you go to Ireland?

    • @GodisMyStrength
      @GodisMyStrength Месяц назад

      On this cruise, I rented a scooter. I used the scooter to go most places. When booking excursions, the excursion will indicate if it can accommodate a wheelchair and/or scooter. The excursion will also explain the activity level such as easy, moderate or strenuous. It will state if there are any steps or anything which may be a problem for people with mobility issues. Most of the buses allowed a scooter or wheelchair to be stored in the luggage compartment. Whenever you got off the bus, you just had to wait for the driver to get the wheelchair or scooter from the luggage area. I went to Ireland in May.

    It looks like you are getting in quite a bit of travel and enjoying yourself except for the bump in the road with the food. I am glad they took it seriously. Enjoy the rest of your trip. Also, I was wondering what is the song in the video called you added in when going down the hill into Ribiera Grande at 2:52 minutes in? Take Care, God Bless Russ

      Yes, it has been quite a nice time. The song is called "Stepping Out". I hope you are having a great day.

    Sorry you had issues with the food. Glad they figured out what the problem was. Hope it doesn't happen again. Pretty island. Maybe I'll go there someday.
