      @@cyrusaurelius5777 "Shadows of The Old World" is a campaign on "DragonFireGaming"'s channel spanning 130 episodes as of the time of this comment, and is the sequel campaign to "Welcome To The Show" (simply titled "Brony D&D" in the playlists) found on "Dr. Wolf"'s channel, spanning 230 episodes. It's all Slice-of-Life focused and features the bronies from "The Secret Rift" back when Gen4 was going strong, and during the scandal involving "he who shall not be named" committing cyber rape/harassment (if I recall correctly). The important thing to take from that is that he broke a lot of bonds of trust since he united most of the group initially and was immediately booted from the campaign and "The Secret Rift" as well as banned from RUclips as his actions are unforgivable and he hasn't been heard from since. (Supposedly he's still running from the law.) (The only reason I included all that is because of a disclaimer in the last ten or so episodes where he's featured having a disclaimer since this all happened before they were uploaded.) "Welcome to The Show" was about a rag-tag group of unlikely friends aiding in a three-way war for control of the mortal plane (if I remember correctly) with the devils of hell Vs. the mortals Vs. the Gods and Goddesses. "Shadows of The Old World" is about another rag-tag group of unlikely friends solving a mystery involving devils attempting to invade the mortal realm. About half the group are the children of the old group, and the other half are new characters, but the entire old cast (minus him) has returned. Oh, and one of them is a runaway princess who has fled the crown to become the owner of a bar and a belly dancer at said bar (if I have the roles correct. If she's not both, she *is* one of them.). Josh Scorcher is the DM in both. Most of the episodes of both campaigns are just talking, working, or having fun, so be prepared to spend a few fun days in between most action scenes. I'm sorry. I thought I replied sooner. Guess I forgot to click "reply".

    Based on the lyrics, it sounds like a tale of a Queen that loves her people dearly yet to protect those same people she must send them to an impending war with a heart filled with sadness she cannot share nor let known to others as it might compromise her position as the leader of her kingdom

      Pretty close. Valdemar has been at odds with two of it's neighbors for a long time. The Heralds spoken of are the Elites of the army that deal with extreme situations such as Magic and High Risk Diplomatic issues. They are also the Monarch most trusted companions being as the Monarch was a Herald themselves before ascension to the Throne. Now to keep their country safe the Monarch has no choice but to send her most loyal and trusted into harms way

    This song actually fits Princess Zelda from Breath of the Wild so perfectly, especially the last half. “The dearest are my heralds who return my care with love” - Link, Revali, Urbosa, Daruk and Mipha “That land and people first have needs that I may not deny - so I must send my dearest friends to danger and to die” - she must send her friends, the champions, off to protect Hyrule, despite knowing that it is incredibly dangerous and they end up dying in the fight. “Oh gods that dwell beyond the stars, if you can hear my cry -“ I can just imagine her holding Link’s dying body, and crying up into the stars, to the Goddess Hylia. “And if you have compassion, let me send no more to die” - well, you get the idea by now. This is just some of the lines, to get the gist of it. The whole song fits pretty dang well.

    I absolutely love most of this and would love to learn how to play it on guitar... But I find that I'm unable to sing it despite even a good voice match..... There's something that annoys me much too greatly in the subtext whether or not it was the intended interpretation: A queen slowly goes mad with power-sacrificing her subjects including kids "for the greater good"-and then conveniently finds some supernatural manipulators to blame for her own sins. "I'M PERFECT! IT'S THE FATES THAT ARE CRUEL! IGNORE THE ENEMY AT OUR GATE! FOR TOMORROW, WE RIDE AGAINST THE GODS!" {cavalry sent streaming off a cliff} 🤨 Can't sing the end as written, because THAT'S the logical conclusion and it's total cringe. Such profound emphasis on responsibility throughout the song, and in the end she's still the same irresponsible brat who wanted the crown in the first place..... Empathizing with that is tough. 🫤 Gonna have to tweak it somehow for my personal enjoyment... If "[a little evil] for the greater good" is the best this character can come up with as a plan, it's her moral responsibility to abdicate-having become corrupted as yet another enemy of the very land she loves. That's incomprehensible to face-cognitive-dissonance with mass-murder as the subject-so it makes sense she'd cast about to redirect blame even if she has to pin the crime on the very moon.

    • @Beldandy100
      @Beldandy100 Год назад

      You've never read any of the books about the Heralds of Valdimar have you? I can assure you that you're interpretation is so far off the mark its scary. This is nothing about a Queen willfully sacrificing her subjects, in fact is it the exact opposite of that. It pains her to lose her Heralds as they are truly her closest friends but it quite literally is the fate of all Heralds and their companions. I strongly recommend looking up the books and reading them to get a good understanding.

    The stars are very beautiful above the palace walls, they shine with equal splendor still above far humbler halls. I watch them from my window, but their bright entrancing glow reminds me of the freedom I gave up so long ago. The royal circlet of bright gold rests lightly on my brow, I once thought only of the rights this circlet would endow. But once I took the crown to which I had been schooled and bred, I found it heavy on the heart, though light upon the head. Although I am the head of state in truth I am the least, the true Queen knows her people fed, before she sits to feast. The good Queen knows her people safe before she takes her rest, thinks twice and thrice and yet again before she makes request. For they are all my children, all that I swore to defend, it is my duty to become both Queen and trusted friend. And of my children high and low from beggar to above, the dearest are my Heralds who return my care with love. The dearest are my Heralds swift to spring to my command, who give me aid and fellowship who always understand. That land and people first have needs that I may not deny, so I must send my dearest friends to danger and to die. A friend, a love, a child, it matters not, I know indeed, that I must sacrifice them all if there should be the need. They know and they forgive me doing more than I require, with willing minds and loving hearts go straight to grasp the fire. These tears that burn my eyes are all the tears the Queen can't shed, the tears I weep in silence as I mourn my Heralds dead. Oh gods that dwell beyond the stars, if you can hear my cry, and if you have compassion, let me send no more to die.

    This song makes you feel like the singer is a princess after being coronated as a queen trying to follow in her predecessor’s footsteps, and her predecessor had been the epitome of a true queen. However, the current queen is struggling to be the perfect, good, trusted, intelligent queen that her predecessor once was. But she proves to be more empathic, stated by the line “the tears that burn my eyes are all the tears queen can’t shed”, not treating the kingdom as if it were a responsibility, but as if it were her family.
