More recently, he played a character in the Sopranos and there is a Hugely successful Broadway play about Frankie and the the 4 Seasons called 'Jersey Boys". As for your clip of Frankie on stage - sad, but some people, no matter how rich, can't refuse another big pay cheque and some are also addicted to the attention and stardom. I'm 60 and I refuse to pay good money to see old performers past their prime. My friends will pay $400 to go see them, not me. I'm fine with my memories and albums and sometimes I find an old concert on you tube I attended when I was young and even low wage workers could afford tickets. Last month I found an old ticket stub from an AC/DC concert from 1981 - $11.50 - "For Those About To Rock" tour. I went to 20 -25 concerts in the 70's -80's and never paid more than $20. Many of those bands had a level of musicianship that is rarely seen anymore. Back then the way the music industry was structured required it. He isn't doing it because he doesn't have a retirement fund. He's absolutely being forced into doing it by managers, promoters, and others who make money off his gigs. Frankie Valli could have retired to a very comfortable life decades ago if he wanted to. He still enjoyed singing, so he kept going. But at this point, I suspect he can't retire because those who depend on his shows won't let him. He does not seem to be enjoying it anymore.

I'm 58 and it makes me uncomfortable to see him like this, he's a part of my childhood with his revival in the movie Grease and that awesome soundtrack. Hard to say how true they are, but most of those celebrity net worth tracking sites say Frankie is worth 80 million. That seems highly unreasonable, but I do know he sold a condo for 2.5 million last year, so he's not totally broke, along with decades of constant performing. His divorce and remarriage when he was in his 80s probably didn't help matters financially. :( A funny story, (at least it is to me), is that I was really into punk/new wave like a lot of older GenXers in the 80s, but I absolutely loved the Rolling Stones and their old stuff from the 60s. They came to my town in October 1989 and the reason I didn't go is because I thought the tickets were too expensive, ($30), and that they were way too old to be cool and wouldn't be anything like the young Stones of the 60s, since Mick Jagger was forty f'ing six years old, lolol. The only reason I *almost* went is because I thought they'd be retiring soon and I'd never get the chance to see them again. Nowhere in my imagination could I have pictured an 81 yr old Mick Jagger strutting on stage in the year 2024, at 81 yrs of age, and me paying around $1,000-$1,500 for a ticket. And I haven't and I won't.

i'm a big reader and i'm on booktok, but i'm in a different corner of booktok (literary fiction and classics) and it's wild to me to watch the 'smut/romance' side, it gets crazy over there lol. i agree with you on the 'bad boy vs. bad person' take, it is pretty shocking to me how some readers are openly fangirling over criminals and criminal behaviour. i believe people should read what they want, but i also believe there must be some secrecy about it, i don't think it is appropriate to be promoting these type of books to thousands of people online, especially because apps like tiktok have a high percentage of young audiences. while there are many corners of booktok, smut romance is the most promoted and it is dangerous for young, impressionable people because of the lack of morality in this type of literature. it is our responsbility to be aware of what our youth are consuming and it scares me to see the younger readers reading smut more and more every year.
