Helpful tips and advice for hobbyists and artists. I am an artist that has been airbrushing for over 30 years. I have painted everything from T-shirts to custom vehicles and motorcycles. But for the past 17 years I have been painting miniatures on and off as I moved back and forth across the country.

I found the Ultimate Airbrush compressor!
Просмотров 11 тыс.3 года назад
I review the ultimate hobby airbrush compressor! For the money, you will not find a better value than this compressor. The features are incredible for the price. And it’s not a weak, single purpose compressor that can only be used for airbrushing. I was not paid or compensated by Harbor Freight, and I bought this compressor at full market price. Join me as I use glazing to achieve a brushed steel reflective effect on a GW model The brush I use in this video is a Bomb Wick Igniter Size 1 from monumenthobbies.com/
I have one, it’s great!
is this piston or diaphragm
Yes! I have this on and it’s perfect for airbrushing! Very quiet too!
Thank you for your amazing tutorial, im going to try this on my knight
I got the same. But the name is Maximum. Same specs and it's a 62db
Moisture traps mounted after a few feet of hose are more effective that mounting it directly at the compressor. the air has to cool to allow moisture to condensate into the trap
1st. "This is an 2 gallon Aluminum tank. It's not a metal tank". Aluminum is a metal. 2nd. It would have been nice to turn it on to show how loud it is. 3rd. What special fittings are required to use an airbrush? (you might have said but I got bored and quit watching).
Great review! But, was disappointed not to hear it run. For all the things it does, the sound it generates is as important as any of the features.
Ty for your video. Bought their starter pack after hearing yours and other amazing reviews. Can't wait to start painting!
thanks for your professional teaching many blessings for you😇
The worst review Ive seen yet. You didn't even turn it on so the audience could hear the compressor and the people can be the judge on the sound.
Did you mention your airbrush? I’d like to know but I might have missed you talking about it.

Excellent review! I bought this same air compressor two years ago to replace a 5 gallon shop compressor after wasting time and money building an silencer box for it. The box made it quieter but it would constantly overheat , requiring a bigger intake and ironicly louder fans to exhaust the the waste heat.
I’m impressed that it is so well made that it flows through your airbrush without any additives.
Just bought the 1 gallon on sale and it’s brilliant.
Just picked up one of these ..awesome! - You should do more videos of airbrushing
Where is the cheapest to order from?
Thanks for the review...looking forward to trying these!
Can you recommend a hose or adapter to connect to a Badger Patriot 105 airbrush? I really have no clue what I need to start using my new airbrush. Googling suggests I need special hoses, moisture trap, and adapters to make a connection.
Audio volumes are all over the place :/
Thanks for the feedback!
Were is the unit made and what is the warranty?
It is sold at Harbor Freight. You can find it on their website with a quick Google search. I am not sure about warranty
Dude I have a 120 gallon I can’t do magine painting a car with that
I also have an 80 gallon I use for bigger paint jobs. I don’t paint whole cars with this little compressor, I airbrush miniatures with it. When I paint whole cars I use a paint booth and a commercial sized compressor. But for airbrushing this HF compressor works great.
This is a great video! I appreciate you breaking approach to sketching out the skull and walking us through! I think I'm going to take a crack at a sword on my rhino!
Great video! Sorry if I'm telling you something you already know, but if you grab some metal polish (Flitz from home depot, ace) and a microfiber or cotton swab, use a dremmel or if you have a jig for your drill, put the fat end of the needle in there, and polish that baby! I found out about it a few months ago, and polished my year or so old iwata needle and I was hugely impressed with how much came off, and how much better flow and reduced trip dry. This from a guy who cleans at the end of every use, and disassemble clean and oil every month or so. Anyway, cheers! Love your video and pointing me to Pro-acryl's hobby blogs on their paint recipes. Very excited to give them a whirl!
Nice review !!
Thanks! Glad you liked it.
Just got one for same reasons, bang for buck, looked killer, didn't want super cheap, I'm not moving it around, but nice to know if I wanted to I could use for other things. Can't wait to use it, I had really cheap one that came with air brush. Any way good video 👍keep painting man!
I am really happy with it. I have a couple other airbrush videos if you are interested. Thanks for the kind words!
Great videos looking forward to seeing more, Your last post was 5 months ago I hope all is well.
I have been busy with work. I will be posting more! Thanks for the kind words, I’m glad you like them.
Great video, the background video might have been spead up a bit too much. Kinda gave me a headache 😅. I'm looking at picking these paints up.
Thank you! Sorry for the speed, I won’t edit that high speed anymore.
what do you find Vallejo Model paint to be matt, satin? it's advertised as "matt and opaque"?
Vallejo Model Color is matte.
how are these paints for brush strokes? do they leave brush when painted by brush? I tried scale75 and they're terrible. Vallejo and AK cover well after two thin coats. Just curious how these are before i purchase the sets. Also are all the colors this bright? The space marine looks awesome though 👍 thank you for the reply
They cover really well and I don’t have brush stroke issues. I thin them down to glazes and still don’t get any. Flow improver will help with that problem with other brands, though. All of the colors have a lot of pigment, but they aren’t all intended to be bright. Meaning the darker colors and tones aren’t as eye-popping, but still are very opaque and pigment rich. I know that is kind of confusing, but it’s a good thing.
Is this the base set? Doesn't sound like it. The tops good? Heard they clog still or improve?
They were sold out of the sets so I just bought the colors I felt like we’re gaps in my current paint sets. I haven’t had any issues with clogging.
The tops changed when they increased the bottle size, and they increased the size of the glass agitator ball, as it was often actually the agitator that would lodge in the spout when shaking. These paints are the best I’ve ever used, and I’ve been buying hobby paints since the late 80’s. Also, they offer two additional types of tops you can use for the paints. I prefer the long dropper tips with the screw on tops, so I purchase those when I buy their paints.
painted the green marine in vallejo what ? game?
Vallejo model colors
you neglected to turn it on so we could HEAR now loud it is..................a wasted 19:31
Hey, sorry to hear you didn’t like the sound. It’s 60 db, says it right on the box. Recorded audio of sound won’t tell you how loud it is. I am used to large compressors, I do custom paint on show cars, trucks and motorcycles.
Awesome video. Can't wait to try your tips. I've had trouble with my airbrush gumming up, the tips on pulsing the trigger and mixing in a separate cup looks like it will solve my problem.
Glad it was helpful, thanks for subscribing!
The first shot I was just waiting for the bed to unfold into a hobby station or the dresser to open into a hidden hobby dungeon!
Haha! I’m not that cool...
Real look mate, I'm gonna have to take a closer look myself now
pro tip: you can watch movies at kaldroStream. Been using them for watching a lot of movies lately.
@Watson Corbin Yea, I've been using kaldrostream for years myself :)
Hey! I came back to 40k recently and have 2k of grey knights to paint once assembled. Pro acryl was recommended to me so I found your video. Great job and I hope your channel grows 😁👍. Could you make a video of you painting grey knights? I'd love to see that gold you used in this vid on the GK boys.
Thanks! Glad this video was helpful. I honestly don't own a single Grey Knight. I am going to start working on a Chaos Space Marine next using the ProAcryl paints. There will definitely some Gold NMM that I will use in a future video. And welcome back to the hobby!
@@eberkeneezer1579 Fair enough, well I'll be back to catch you paint some chaos Marines for sure. That gold is to die for!
awesome work dude, keep it up id like to see you put these paints to the test a lil more i mean really really work em hard ;)
I plan to. I have a Crimson Slaughter CSM on deck for the full ProAcryl treatment right now.
And thanks!
Great video! Really filled some holes in my understanding and I am going to get one of those reflective sheets at the craft store next time I go. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Plug it in. Need to hear it!
You can hear it in my other videos, but sound is subjective on a microphone. It could sound quieter or loader based an the recording. You can hear it in my other airbrushing videos.
Just picked this up on your recommendation! Excited to get started!
Nice! I hope you love it as much as I do!
blood angel painting tut. Please.
Good suggestion. I do need to do an intermediate NMM video and a BA Primaris intercessoRs would definitely fit that requirement
@@eberkeneezer1579 Oh Yeah.
@@eberkeneezer1579 Any chance you could do a NMM gold helmet or some other accessory on that marine? Or just something gold.
@@Splatterpunk_OldNewYork I will be doing a NMM gold video, probably in the next couple weeks!
@@eberkeneezer1579 Oh Yeah!
This miniature is Magnificent! Whole other level.
Thanks!
@ 15:00, what you describe as the colour of the acrylic changing from brighter to darker as it dries; The term is Colour Shifting. Acrylic is notorious for this. By the way, you Sir, are what I aspire to as a miniature painter. Please keep 'em coming.
Thanks for the kind words! And trust me, you can do anything I do. 👍🏻
I think you were asking on feedback about the video on discord - one thing I observe is that sometimes you explain something very exhaustively - good example is towards the end: great to show how fine you can make a dot and then the main message: it is not about the need size - then this core message is kept for about a minute. I think this is an opportunity to revise your "script" and shorten the video. Look at and there are other situations with similar patterns. Video composition: you could film / make pictures from different angles, for example seeing how close the airbrush to the paper/object is would give some insights. Another idea is to film you while disassembling the airbrush and have this shown in fast forward speed while regular narration goes on. Besides that: very helpful - would have not thought about disassembling and creating a practice grid like this.
Thanks for the feedback! I have been working on ways to get multiple shots in future videos, and your comments about scripting are true. I really appreciate you taking the time give me some constructive criticism!
I agree with the very first part of this. Short and sweet would help !
@@666MABE but I have so much to share! 😁
Great video. It is almost unfair how easy an airbrush seems to be to get an OSL effect. Every time I decide to table the idea of getting an airbrush, things/videos like this bring it back into my thoughts.
Need to clean the audio up a bit, but this gold buddy
Thanks for the feedback! Glad you liked the video.

Awesome! Thanks for commenting!
Love the title!
