    Thinking of the dynamic of the crew and why I think you shouldn't judge them too harshly for their decisions is that you have to keep in mind that they're just truckers, in space, they're not scientists nor military. They were woken up from a routine mission of hauling ore and told, by the computer, that they have to investigate this signal that seems like it may be an SOS or they will forfeit their shares for this haul that obviously is taking them at least a couple of years. So, they go out to investigate, find this derelict alien ship. Long dead, then one of them gets attacked and injured so they want to just leave. Ripley, as 1st officer, is like, "No, we can't risk contamination." Everyone else is understandably freaking out and Ash lets them back on the ship, which becomes obvious later because that was HIS mission. None of these people are equipped for anything CLOSE to this extraordinary situation. It's not like they went there with a purpose of finding something like this, they were just interrupted in doing their hauling job. Thinking about the bigger picture, they were most likely set up by the company for this exact thing to happen. Well, actually they probably would've rathered keep the ore and the alien alive but they probably planned on sacrificing that whole crew. The Weyland Corp is evil, man. That's what many people have come to the conclusion is the REAL villain in the Alien movies. The alien just does what it does and Ash is just programmed BY the company.

    • @kevsclassicmovies
      @kevsclassicmovies 4 дня назад

      Honestly it was a very good story writing detail! It's understandable that the crew would be panicked. I assumed Ash was just panicked and let them in because he wanted to save them. That's why the Ash being a humanoid robot shocked the hell out of me!! GREAT movie!! Thanks for the comment and tuning in!!

    • @ldkinbote
      @ldkinbote 4 дня назад

      @@kevsclassicmovies Yeah, it never really crosses anyone's mind that Ash (or anyone) could be an android.

  • @ldkinbote
    @ldkinbote 5 дней назад

    I'd heard, many years later 'cause they don't really explain the dynamics so much of the characters, that all of the crew are familiar with each other and that's why they talk that way with each other, but Ripley is a young new 1st officer, so they don't know her as well and therefore don't respect her authority as much. Ash was also new and placed with them as the science officer by the company. So, thinking back on it, the company knew about this place and the potential of an alien which is why they had that directive in Mother and put Ash on the crew to make sure the "most valuable thing" survives and gets brought back to the company. All the people? Eh, expendable.

    • @kevsclassicmovies
      @kevsclassicmovies 4 дня назад

    For years (decades) I didn't understand how the face-hugger got onto his face through the helmet and then it finally hit me some years ago, "OHH, duh, the acid ate through the helmet." I was like "Why didn't the helmet protect him?" Also, I JUST now heard it in your reaction that when it jumps out of the egg onto his helmet, you can actually hear the hissing, I'm guessing of the acid.

    • @kevsclassicmovies
      @kevsclassicmovies 4 дня назад

  • @ldkinbote
    @ldkinbote 5 дней назад

    When the Nostromo lands on the planet and they go out in their suits, to show the scale of how large it is, they had children in little suits in the outdoor shots and in the wider derelict ship shots. That was Ridley Scott's kid(s) along with some other crew members', I think. I heard all this when I watched the commentary on the DVD of the Director's Cut when they first put the quadrilogy on DVD. The derelict ship and the surrounding landscape was a miniature carved from Styrofoam, but it was the size of room and it was done in a hanger (I think) and in order for it not to look like a miniature and for you to not see the flaws, they used fog machines and chose to shoot it, mostly, through the monitor on the ship. So, the audience is seeing what the people on the ship are seeing, which make it look creepier and HUGE. It's thoughts like that which make me marvel at Ridley Scott's creativity. I don't know if I would've thought to shoot it that way. I think he implied that it's kinda a cheat 'cause they didn't have a lot of money, but hey, isn't that all movie-making, especially sci-fi? See how creatively you can convey your story so it gets the point across with as least as many distractions as possible? I think that's why so many people prefer miniatures 'cause even though CG can convey sci-fi and fantasy concepts many times more concretely, many people focus on IT and are distracted from the story being told. I remember Scott saying on there, at the time, that of all his movies he's done, this one is the one that still holds up. I agree still and I heard that commentary, probably about a couple of decades ago.

    If you are still struggling with autoimmune disorder, consider spending a family vacation at the Geshundheit Institute, where your whole family can learn the art of healing with laughter and fun. Look at Patch Adam's RUclips videos to find out how much of the movie is true, but the Geshundheit Institute is a real place you can go to learn to heal and/or to be healed, with humor and love. The video about Robin starts to touch on how much of the movie is true, but there may be others that go into more. BTW, Robin is thought to have had progressing Lewey Body Dementia that was causing him to lose his ability to act and clown around, and that may be why he chose when his life should end, before he slipped visibly and lost all his abilities and had people thinking of him with pity rather than admiration. But I wish Robin would have reached out to Patch when he began to feel suicidal, because some time with Patch and the Gesundheit Institute could have helped him to feel good about what he still had, rather than what he was losing, just as Patch is doing with his amputation now.

    • @kevsclassicmovies
      @kevsclassicmovies 4 дня назад

      That's never a good way to go, but I can certainly respect Robin for deciding his own fate before he lost his ability to think for himself :( I had never heard he might have had that! That's terrifying and sad :/

  • @chrissnyder8108
    @chrissnyder8108 7 дней назад

    BTW, the tragic death in the movie, was altered from the real life Patch Adam's biography, still was a best friend, but in real life was a he, not a she. Patch Adam's biography is still going on, one of his videos on RUclips shares how he felt about Robin after Robin's death, and another shares how he decided to cope with needing his foot amputated. He is still alive at nearly 75 years old, and still doing good and making people laugh.

    • @kevsclassicmovies

    BTW, for the estrogen-challenged host, the stirrups are used at every gynecological exam for your whole life from your early teen years until you die, whether or not you ever get pregnant, as is the speculum, and I'm not going to tell you how the later gets used, you can look it up for yourself, but if you think a prostrate exam is bad, you ain't seen nothing yet!

    @19:57 "Ideologies have been steadily creeping in and ruining great franchises" - the inclusion of a trans actress portraying a character in the Brotherhood didn't "ruin" it, but it was noticeable and annoying; the discourse around this casting decision was even more annoying, and clearly motivated by leftist political views. Again, it didn't "ruin" the show - mainly because she was portraying a side character, and only in a handful of episodes - but this could definitely be viewed as an ideology "steadily creeping in", and I don't think it added anything to the show...

    • @kevsclassicmovies

      I noticed the trans actress in the first episode and initially was like oh god here we go. But she only had the 5 minutes of screen time and we didn't see her again until the the last two and she didn't have even a large part, so that made me happy. But I can see a few underlying political left issues with the show, but largely it seems it stayed away. Although I have been bummed that I haven't seen a same race couple in tv ib like 10 years it seems like :/ thank you for the comment and tuning in!!

      @@kevsclassicmovies yup, if she's in the next season I hope her part is as sparse as the first, or she's in it even less... it doesn't make sense to the story at all to have a trans character in the BROTHERHOOD... maybe they could get away with it if she was a resident of Vault 4 LOL I just hope she remains on the periphery of what was otherwise an enjoyable series and not an early warning sign of more poor, regressive leftist ideological decisions 'steadily creeping in' to the production in the future...

      @@theheatinferno8420 the sexual preferences of a storyteller are irrelevant, gay ≠ woke, and your assertion relies on a false equivalency; also, attributing the entirety of the Fallout series and game series to one person is ludicrous. An analogous situation would be attributing the entirety of Star Wars to George Lucas - yes, he was the original creator and is responsible for developing the foundation that all of Star Wars has built upon, but there are countless creatives who have contributed immensely to various Star Wars projects... saying that Star Wars was all made by George would be disingenuous and would discount the contributions made by others - that's precisely what you're doing to Fallout by saying that it was "made by a gay guy" (which again, isn't relevant anyways).

    I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your reactions :) A bit of trivia : Mission impossible was actually a TV show from the 60's and Jim Phelps was the main character so it was a big plot twist to made him the traitor. Please react to the whole franchise (from 2 to dead reckoning ^^). By the way, you should also react to ALIENS which is even better than the 1st one and is as scary and stressful than the 1st. But be sure to get the "special edition/extented cut" when you'll react to it. And if you liked Pulp Fiction, I would suggest you Reservoir dogs (1992) and True romance (1993) : both masterpieces from Tarantino as well. Also, it would be awesome if you would react to the entire 007 saga as well especially if you like mission impossible. In fact, mission impossible films took a lot of inspirations from the old James Bond movies. The most crazy thing about 007 is that it's probably the oldest and longest movie franchise of all time which is now 62 years old with 26 films, they never stop making them since 1962. Crazy, right ? ;) But if you want to start your 007 journey : please react to the very 1st one : "Dr No" from 1962 with Sean Connery and don't skip directly to the recent ones :) To finish, I would like to suggest you "Child's play" from 1988. So sorry for my bad english, for the long comment and sorry if I proposed you too many movie suggestions ;)

      I will definitely react to the whole franchise! I've seen two of the kire recent ones but I'll rewatch them since it's been a while! I had no idea it was a show! That's so cool!! I've also seen all the Pierce Brosnan Bonds and all but the last Craig Bonds! I haven't seen too many of the bind movies altogether, and that would be a GREAT franchise to watch as well! I'll definitely check out Childs Play! Although that's Chucky right?! I haven't seen any of those but maybe I'll do some around Halloween!! And finally, I will absolutely tune into Aliens! I've had multiple people ask me to react to that one :) thank you so much for comment and tuning in!!!

    Some cgi… I suggest you watch the vfx breakdowns. The immediate foreground and actors are largely the only things filmed on location that end up in the final frame. There was so much invisible set dressing/extension CGI that no one even thinks off.

      Really! I'll have to tune in! That's wild! I didn't think there was a ton of cgi!! I knew there was some! Like the mutants in Vault 4 and some of the larger sets, but I largely thought the places were on location with actual set pieces! Thanks for the comment and tuning in!!

      That’s not politics, it’s economics. As far as the politics of economic systems are concerned, it doesn’t really do anything with modern day, real world politics. It sticks with the politics of the 1950’s cold war era, focusing on rooting out communism in the states.

    Imo its...good,if not for one tiny minute detail,it takes place on the west coast. It tries to do the fallout 4 thing where the faction dies with its main base of operations (in season 1) notice how the ncr barely exists at all when the ncr,not only had like 700k people at the time of fo2 which would be at the very minimum 1 mil by nv,it controlled a fair bit of california and the capital being nuked wouldn't completely erase the ncr. It follows fallout 4 more than the games (some) of the fans adore,like,1,2 and nv,and also they moved SHADY SANDS INTO LA what the fuck thats like moving las vegas to san francisco,ok maybe more of an extreme example but.. Also the dates on that one stupid mistake of a chalkboard contradict new vegas very much Shady sands likely was on the decline by 2277 yes,but the whole nuking of the capital BY VAULT TEC NO LESS was so goddamn stupid i can't,oh and the enclave having a vault right in ncr territory This show is based off of fallout 4 with the location of fallout 1,but messed up in multiple ways.

      I did see a video a few days after I watched the series that disputed some of the dates from the earlier fallouts. I wasn't nearly as familiar woth those games as fallout 3 and beyond.
