I live in the San Antonio area of Texas and have been trying to grow blueberries in the ground. Unfortunately it has been a failed experiment and has only yielded a few blueberries over the year. My advice is to stick to containers.

      @@sanantoniogardening lucky you! I am lucky to get 2-4” of soil up north of canyon lake! I am adding loads of dirt n compost to my backyard, then building raised beds

      @sanantoniogardening 20 дней назад

      That’s the way to do it. If you have a lot of time you can also drop tons of wood chips and mix with coffee grounds. In a few years you’ll have a thick layer of top soil.

    Omg... I'm in Schertz also! My plan is to get rid of 99% of my front lawn... it's been crispy since May 😜. Just found your channel so I'm going to see what I can find here to help that process out.

    I love your round bed! I have extreme dry heat in summer. I tried planting potatoes in part shade and they did not do well. When I planted them in full sun they did much better. This surprised me since our heat gets up to 115°. I start everything as soon as the danger of frost has passed.

    An, you the man bro. You’ve always been an inspiration. I too am a compost nerd. I picked it up on my time in Oregon. Now my compost is a year to year endeavor in Las Vegas. I’m such a nerd that I moved my compost from house to house in Las Vegas. I use red worms in my compost and they proliferate and break down the new organics I constantly add. You’re brilliant brother.

    I would have offered that cool old railroad tie wood up to local woodworkers or gardeners for their creative projects instead of wasting it at the dump. A good power wash and come creative cutting could have turned it into some really neat raised beds or yard art!

    Some people hate the fabric so much! I have used it many times in different projects, and yes, it is not eternal, but holds for many years. Right now I'm experimenting with cardboard, but I wouldn't use it in a space like here, I think you are doing the best option. It's looking great!!
