Per li coglioni = for those incapable of deciphering music without aids. In spoken Italian, saying that someone is a coglione means that they are inept, stupid, unintelligent and contemptibly naïve.

This is a lovely, virtuosic concerto. I also like having the autograph score scrolling. Many thanks.

Hmm. I didn't realize there were different ways to do Dixit Dominus. I got an album of this years ago and it sounded much more upbeat.
🧐 *It's fascinating how,* all though the manuscript is not written in *Vivaldi's own-hand* ... there is no doubt as to who composed the music? *It's typical Vivaldi.* 🤔 📝 😮 *Whoever transcribed this had really-good handwriting* ... kinda like *Mozart.* 😮 Hearing the *d-minor violins* reminds me of the *famous RV 565* 🎻🤔🎼🎶

L'Estro Armonico is beautiful, way ahead of its time. Slow or fast, it really can't be destroyed. My preference is for the "dinosaur" recording, Christopher Hogwood and The Academy of Ancient Music. There is a problem with some of todays recordings of Vivaldi, that are just too fast, a good example is RV157 when this piece is performed too fast it almost losses what Vivaldi is conveying.
Hogwood is no dinosaur, although he was perhaps the first to record L'Estro on period instruments, I'm not sure. Still quite good, and I own the original LP set. But according to the 78 RPM discography by Roger-Claude Travers, the oldest recording is from 1938, in a transcription by Nachez. A true dinosaur. And lo! it is on RUclips: ruclips.net/video/fLdtqOHT7YA/видео.html
@DelVivaldi Hogwood's L'Estro was the first CD I purchased back in 1990. I still have it and play it often. I often wonder if No. 2 in G minor was the inspiration behind Herrmann's music for the famous shower scene in ' Psycho'. The link to Nachez was amazing 👏

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you very much. This concert was the first violin concert I learned when I was a child.
VIVALDI I LOVE YOUUUUUUUUUUU MY HEART IS ON FIRE
While generally much better than the early "dinosaur" interpretations, the tempo chosen by the original instrument groups tends to be far too fast for my taste, and likely too fast compared to Vivaldi's days. It's as if they're supposed to play as fast as technically possible, and perhaps worse, they're trying to show off! Many essential details of the music get squashed. Like Bach, Vivaldi sounds best with balanced tempos. Many will find this exasperating, but the 3rd movement in the following recording (5:54) sounds much better to me, with clear, imposing bass and viola lines: ruclips.net/video/0hTxvAyBp-Y/видео.html
Hello, Mike. Do you suppose then that the ‘Presto’ indication is an error? As I’ve been saying, the print is the only source that exists, so it could be an error. My point is, the Ristenpart version, and so many others, blatanly ignore that tempo marking. I don’t think it is an error, I do think it’s obvious what Presto means here, because if you play it like you say, at a ‘balanced’ tempo, it sounds slow. To make matters worse, these interpretations take the first movement at an even slower pace, because if the last one is ‘Presto’, the first has to be slower! Basically, just making assumptions that are self-serving (to suit their interpretative standards) with no regard or any knowledge of the bigger picture. This was standard repertoire even in the 50s, 60s and 70s, and people are constantly complaining about the tempos of the newer interpretations, because habit is a hard thing to break. When hearing a new piece, tempo is rarely an issue. If you like it slower, that is ok, but the fact that it sounds better to us is no meter by which to judge what was standard in Vivaldi’s day, or Bach’s. Personally, I do all my listening on headphones with a very intent, almost edge-of-your-seat attitude, not slumped in my chair sipping cognac, so I do not think the music is ‘squashed’ when it is played tight by good ensembles. It still sounds strong and solid to me, you just have to process it faster. I however strongly dislike sloppy playing that is offbeat in the most awkward places, like the soloist is stuck in his own world and not even listening to the orchestra. Anyway, happy listening!
Jayne Mansfield played this on the "Ed Sullivan Show."
@@DelVivaldi Thanks for sharing your preferences. I agree with much of what you say. Yet I think it's worth pointing out that tempos in the baroque area were not precise instructions, just general directions, so there is certainly a subjective element to the final decision. It is also likely, according to many experts, that baroque tempos were a lot slower than today's ,perhaps a reflection of the complete "newness" of this music then. For today's audiences such slow tempos can sound dull and lead to loss of interest. However there is something to say for being able to "hear" the middle parts, the short but delightful arpeggios on the violin or the harmonic twists in the bass. Perfect examples of the need -as I see it- for a slower tempo are indeed the finale of RV 356, and the opening allegro of RV 120. The latter is played at at least twice the optimal speed by almost all groups in my view (as I mentioned in a previous comment on your channel) . In the end it's a matter of taste, and perhaps I'm getting a bit more conservative as I grow older...
@@DelVivaldi Was this written perhaps for the girls at the Ospedale? Then it would have been played according to their talents and abilities.
I wonder what the original manuscript was like? It must have been great.
Very CLEAR and NEAT!
Of course all these lost manuscripts may turn up one day fingers crossed 🤞
Such a revolutionary piece that even JJ Quantz was thoroughly impressed with the op. 3 set. I’ve missed you Del Vivaldi. I have this particular recording by Tafelmusik 😊 Thanks for the upload.
Thank you 🙏
When did Vivaldi compose this? The originals are lost forever, and it only exists in this version. Perhaps it was a fresh composition, in 1711 when it was published - not widely circulated. It is certainly one of the more forward-looking concertos of the set. Bach did not transcribe it: it did not fit his idiom. Today, it is everywhere, a classic. And with good reason! A seminal work and as close to perfection as Vivaldi gets. I. Allegro (0:00) II. Largo (2:51) III. Presto (4:53) Composed: not later than 1711 Source: Estienne Roger No. 50, Amsterdam (1711) Tafelmusik, ‘L'Estro armonico’ Ellizabeth Wallfisch, violino solo Jeanne Lamon, direzione Analekta AN 2 9835
Tierce de picardie at the end of the fugue. No Bach!! The original minor final chord by Vivaldi is better.
An introductory section was struck out at the beginning of the manuscript. This deleted section can be heard in the following video: ruclips.net/video/8Q0pPObnppw/видео.html A copy of the concerto was sold to count Vinciguerra di Collalto on 28 June 1741, merely a month before Vivaldi's death; so probably a very late composition. I. Andante molto - Allegro non molto (0:00) II. Larghetto (6:21) III. Allegro molto (8:57) Composed: presumably not before 1734 Turin source: Foà 31 Concordance: 1:06 = RV 168 (1st movement) Europa Galante, ‘I concerti dell’addio’ Fabio Biondi, violino solo e direzione Glossa GCD923402

Diálogo concertante fenomenal.
Sublime bellezza!! Might I kindly request the upload of Vivaldi’s Concerto for Chamber in D Minor, RV 96? It would be a privilege to experience your rendition of this piece as well. And again, grazie signor❣️
This is the most classical baroque piece I have heard
BRAVISSIMMI!! BEAUTIFUL !! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Are there any other early Vivaldi' s work available?
This is one of Vivaldi's greatest concertos. No one else of his time could have written something like this.

Oh dear lord
Such immense emotion. In a strange way, almost like he wrote it this morning, timeless. No one can write music like this.
