Personally think shanks should be on the list. Man showed up to the largest conflict the world had seen and said stop them it stopped. He one shot Kid. He inspired Luffy and stole that devil fruit. Man has casually meet with the 5 elder stars and much more. Shanks is him on the one piece universe

Garps is such a bad ass. Look what he is doing in current one piece as an old man he is able to throw hands with fucking kuzan a former admiral that rivals the current fleet admiral in strength. Garps is doing this after laying waste to the island with his galaxy impact and taking down tons of pirates on the island. He one shot sanjuan wolf so he was already fighting before kuzan showed up. He loses that fight but kuzan is also someone who knows how Garp fights as just like Koby. Garp trained kuzan. And there are more feats from Garp as he rivaled the pirate king and turned down the rank of admiral. He is the goat.

Rock Lee + Might Guy and any non-df user one piece character are especially fun because those worlds include power systems that are narratively accessible to any character, and with OP its the case that Haki, the E for Everyone power system, is the real determiner of strength as compared to devil fruits. You cant rule the world without haki.

Honourable mention to Inosuke who by all appearances just fucked off to the wilderness to teach himself a new breathing style and completely clown on other demon slayers

It might not have a real power level system, but I really like this in Black Clover, where Asta by all accounts should be one of the weakest characters, but he rejects the power system and works hard to overcome that

garp doesn’t really fit this list as it has been made clear by many of the top characters in one piece that devil fruits are not the important power system but Haki is. just look at Roger and shanks crew they are completely made up of non fruit users and are both the strongest of their generation Shanks crew managed to stop Kaido from showing up to marineford and the beast pirates are filled with powerful fruit users so garp really doesn’t go against the power system and is more one of the pillars of true Haki power even if he only really uses his fist if those fist are so suped up in Haki that they are atomic bombs it doesn’t matter

5:56 how is garp a part of this troupe? Haki is one of the main power systems and he is abusing it

Toji and Mash are the realest ones. Rock Lee still uses chakra enhancement. Garp still uses haki enhancement. Asta still uses his own special “anti magic”. Genya still eats demons to gain demonic powers. And Toji in particular? He’s canonically banned from the power system (except weapons). His body literally was gifted by the universe in exchange for not being able to use the power system.

i love Denkken so much, in fact, a lot of Frieren is just filled with amazing characters

One story I have been brainstorming has a main character who is completely cut off the base power system of magical skills yet the world is so normalised into the power system that farmers with extremely powerful farming or woodcutters with woodcutting abilities don't even think of the possibility of using shatter ground or sever branches as combat skills. So main character is just a regular dude in magical world and he brainstorms everyones abilities for combat while himself being able to fight without magic with poor quality but realistic martial arts he developed based on magics of others. Another power imbalance comes from it all being magic related: You start to chant, he comes and cuts you before you are done. Ofcourse wordless magic exists and these guys are his worst enemy because he can't tell ahead of time what is coming. Main characters side kicks are assassins with teleportation and multiplication magic, doesn't sound like combat? Well give multiplication mage a bow and arrow and teleportation magic one a shield he can turn into inlet for multiplicated arrows, where are you going to hide when rain of arrows can come from anywhere.

Kind of reminds me of god hand where Tiger Joe (A Sagat parody) straight up says "If you didn have those powers I would have won right?" And he is a completely normal guy who is able to near match you despite having no magic or demon power so that begs the question....what would happen if he had the god hand?

Guts is always who I remember. He went from a scared kid, to a headstrong captain, to a broken man with nothing to lose, to a hero Griffith could never dream to imagine being. And he pushed through demons and magic all with the threat that if he died his soul would be consumed by evil itself. And he still decides to go off for 2 years with barely any sleep and a vague idea of what to do to find Griffith. Then he becomes a caretaker for casca and the moonlight child while also being the backbone for the new group. The later chapters of him are probably some of the best examples of stoicism and positive masculinity out there. Yes I am a berserk meat rider but that manga got me through tough times. RIP Miura.

Lee uses taijustu, yes, but in order to use the gate, you must manipulate the chakra in your body right? there for using the power system just in his own way. and garp uses haki, which is the other half of one peices power system.

I love how the explanation for (spoilers for JJK) The explanation for Toji lasting so long after being resurrected was because of a stack overflow error. The technique that brought him back only lasts “until the resurrected target runs out of Cursed Energy”. But since Toji had no Cursed Energy, he technically could never run out of it. Meaning the guy outright came back to life because he is literally built different (built incorrectly)
