My mother was a tailor. I learned a bit of it when I was young. Unfortunately (or fortunately), I ended up becoming a medical doctor. But I still have the passion I picked from my mother. That desire for perfect cut and perfect stitch is almost entirely missing in the young tailors in my country, Nigeria. It makes me so mad that I am considering retiring from medical practice to pursue that desire to do things right, for the sake of it. It pains me that many young people no longer about the passion. They just want the money. But I have never seen money go where there is no passion!

I'm a 68year old mining engineer, machinist, with a 5th hobby of sewing. Actually collecting/restoring sewing machines. I am making a Christmas vest for a friend. So I need to know how to make a welted pocket. Thanks. pants (as we call trousers in Arizona) I will try next. Maybe if the vest turns out.
