Something that HD people say a lot. It's not super technical, it's just a matter of not overdoing it. knowing what feels right, and not running over anything slippery. It is more risky, but you couldn't do what these guys are doing without the front brake.

I have run into lots of people that think braking while entering a corner automatically equals you dying and your bike bursting into flames. They need to watch this.

Very difficult riding and very impressive indeed. However, the American Cop's do similar competitions on full dress Harley's, now that's tough!!!

These bike are not standard they have been lowered to reduce the centre of gravity which is why the lower fairings have been removed, if you watch the exhaust almost touches the floor when they change direction quickly. The engine bars are being used as ground feelers too so any scraping means you are on the edge of the tyre, that way they don't accidentlly over lean.

Well, yeah. Just as long as you're constantly moving at (about) 10 - 15 km/h in a corner, you can hang off the bike, hold the clutch and you won't be falling off until you really slow down too much. I'm no physics expert, but that's what I learned from my bike.

As long as you are still going forwards you have momentum, which will counteract the lean angle, ie you won't fall off

I hear tons about counter weight at low speeds... But the physics just don't make sense...why would you do it? None of these guys do it, all of htem are in line or hanging off the inside of the bike. Anyone an expert on this?

These guys are much better than the american bike cops. Sure the americans have tighter courses but they have huge bikes which just defeats the point of the circuits. These guys are riding sports bikes which will be able to outrun almost any car and most bikes. And sports bikes are NOT easy to do this on. Everything has to be leaned into which takes a crazy amount of skill!

after seeing this, .. i guess i will never have fun riding a bike O.o no matter how good you are, there will be always some japanese guy, anihilating you with his perfect riding skills =O

  • @thebigwarthog

its so if the bike falls the body won't get scratched up. I guess they also stop the bike from leaning too far.

Japanese cone patterns are way more open than US ones, on average. Japanese motor cops train mostly to ride their bikes on the road, through cars, etc. US motor cops train to ride through pedestrian traffic, on sidewalks, down people's side yards, much tighter places where you never thought a bike could go. Neither one is better. Just different.

I've heard Japanes cops are the best for controlling their bikes at low speeds. They used to come to Britain for high speed training, probably because we drive on the same side of the road :)
