Not every plant wants water from above, some don't like it from the ground. Get to know the plant, research a bit and find a way to treat her like she would be in her natural habitat. That's my type of watering🫶🏻

Bury about ten pinky finger sized wooden spikes in the soil and leave em exposed near the surface. The water penetrates far easier and the wooden spikes add organic matter for a long time. It works in the garden too or in soils which lack compost

That smaller pot in the bigger idea great! Resembles the idea of the man on RUclips that puts a 2’ piece of 2”-3” pvc beside each plant.. Buried. Watering takes it deep and holds it while it drinks it in.

I use glass plastic 500ml, 1-3 glass/ pot. My hand Wet, yes absolutly, but it just water 😁

It’s always better to water properly from the top down. As the water goes down, it pulls air with it and oxygenates the roots. This doesn’t happen when you water from the bottom.

Water it more and it’s all wet..

You can also do a method called water wait water where you water it then you wait 15 minutes and then you water it again

Every plant in the world naturally gets watered from the top from rain. No issue watering from the top lol

But if you still top water make sure to have a saucer under your plants preferably a material thats not porous and water should fill it to the edge and let your plant drink as much as it needs then dump it out, (preferably several hours later if not the next day)

Unfortunately my 5 galllon buckets are too big to buttchug and too small to alpow any of the smaller pots i cant find and own..... luckily i have pepper plants that are very slender so getting it right where it needs isnt a problem if anything i might end up waterlogging them bc the spil for 2 of them was in a pot that i found out had never had drainage and was absolutely soaked through for god know how long im hoping i dont get root rot 😭😭😭
