Chester is good this time of year for things like the RHTT and the occasional railtour but there isn't much variety all the time, it's a civity central now

It was just a test run for any operators that may want them in the future I presume

It definitely needs it's wheels being checked, Acton bridge sure is a good place to spend an afternoon a bit of spotting there never goes a miss

Don't think they'll be going to Northern, maybe an operator like crosscountry could use them but we'll see, there is a huge lack of common sense these days with the railways

@@bptrains Sadly so. It seems that most companies ignore common sense and we have useless people in charge where we that are smarter are left out in the cold. Personally if I was a train operator. I would use ten repurposed Class 60's with the Mk5's because being 6 axle would mean more traction on the hills and the extra axles would take a HEP generator. Metra in West Chicago bought 10 ex-BNSF EMD SD70MAC's that were freight locomotives and had these rebuilt to SD70MACH with a HEP power pack to power passenger cars and they were upgeared to 95mph workings. Something similar could be done with the Class 60 by using equipment from the Stadler Euro 4001 and replace everything inside and use a Caterpillar C-175 or even the Cummins QSK95 power unit rated at 4200hp which would provide 500hp for HEP/ETH to power the coaches and 3700hp for traction. That would allow this new repurposed ex-Class 60 to haul and propel the Mk5's over the Pennines, Shap and the Lickey Incline with ease if not used for longer distance services in place of the Voyagers. They would fit the Manchester to Paignton services nicely.

Chiltern seems the more likely destination due to the current usage of 68’s. But as above sense on the railways doesn’t seem to exist anymore

As TPE will need more electric units why not rebuild the mk 5s.
