Lincoln Mark VIII manual transmission (Part 3)
This video really showcases just how well this car handles and sticks to the road. Even forcing it to spin out you can see how fast and easily it kicks back in line. I bought my 97 LSC in 2002 and drove it until 348k miles and even in North East winters never once lost control of it! Sadly the rockers and under neath got very rusty so she’s now going to be parted but I just bought an exact twin same options and colors and it’s rust free and only has 140+ k miles. GREAT cars!!!
You still own this car? Is it for sale?
Yooo. Quick question, was it difficult to swap it To a 6mt or 5mt been wanting to do this for the longest, would it break my pockets?
Daily bread! 🍞 Just picked up the same make and model from my Granpa the ride is awesome
Good video hey bro the old latch is the oem?
So, if you have no key and need to replace the cylinder because you bought a new one with new keys, what do you do?
I have a 95 and a 97... The 95 is getting this swap as absolutely soon as I can manage it.
That thing has a stick fucking sick😮
What kinda rims are those? What size are they?
Sounds good dude..!!..
Supreme 💯🍻
O yeh is right powering threw a sweeper. Sounds soooòoo good.
Yes that sounds nice.
Looks my hometown area.....Wendell north Carolina thank you
Good work my friend. Real work. Work of love. Mechanicals Love it.
I have a 98 Mark VIII and I’m looking for the grounds for radio that located in the dash you know how far they are in there G201 and G202?
Id pay to have that done to mine
Nice rims 👍 Did you need to adjust the air ride suspension at all before putting them on?
The vehicle is coil spring converted. These are Mustang wheels. I have swapped over to the Mustang bolt patern with cobra hubs in the front and re drilled hubs in the back. I believe I referenced forum posts on lincolnvscadilac when I did it. This bold pattern opens up your wheel options tremendously!
@@96LM8 cool. Preciate the info
awesome swap my man. Had a 97 LSC and can't imagine how much more fun it could've been with a stick
I'm the original owner of a '97 Mark VIII LSC. Wish I could do this . . . You rock, son!
Audio horrible
Nice do you have a parts list for conversion thks
Gawd damn that's clean you still have it?
This is awesome. I always wondered if it was as simple as bolting up a TR3650 or T-45 but clearly there's more considerations concerning the placement of the shifter in the cabin. I have an '01 Mustang GT and have always toyed with the idea of getting a Mark VIII and doing a manual swap. I think you've convinced me otherwise. HA!
My pappy said, "Son, you're gonna' drive me to drinkin' If you don't stop drivin' that Hot Rod Lincoln."
Your great bro a cheech and a gurgle 😂 I bet it’s lit being from a legal state
I got mine screwed in but it doesn’t fully latch and lock. Any ways to counter this?
Functionally, at least from the EVTM for the 1997 Mark VIII, the stock PCM (104 Pin EEC-IV) communicates over the SCP Network (PWM J1850) to the Message Center for vehicle speed which looks like it is derived from the transmission vehicle speed sensor, which is located in the transmission housing. How did you retain this function? I though this speed was scaled by the PCM and sent to the dash module over SCP to control the speedometer. Did you recreate the vehicle speed target on the new manual transmission? Also, interesting with the change to a manual transmission is the fact that the engine cam design, and along with the air intake runner control, are targeted towards using an automatic transmission (higher torque at lower rpms). After driving the car, do you have any thoughts on engine operational range (torque available per engine RPM) when using the manual? Another consideration is the final drive, which here again is setup for an automatic. There are a lot of operational differences between an automatic and manual transmission drivetrains.
While you were there you should have replaced the heater control valve, if goes bad you have to do that all over again , it's behind the air box
So I have a big question that no one seems to know. I have a 98 Lincoln continental. So will this same trans fit in my continental?
Unfortunatly not, I believe the continental is front wheel drive
What’s going? How the Mark VIII been?
Wish I knew places like this
Good job! So you just put the tip of the welder to the spot you wanted to weld and it melted the metal together? Or did you have to use metal "plugs" or something beforehand?
Just put a little mig bubble where the original spot welds were!
brings a tear to my eye seeing you carry on this legacy. at the time i could not order one of those cobra from my car , also a 98'.. There was only a hand full of guys with the bullet rims and lowered kit. i ran hooker exhaust with factory tips, cobra pully, cold air, i wish this damn peddle commander ooptions would have been avail back then ,, sold it in 2009
Run corse ground black pepper. It will stop that leak
The legend is back 🤟🏻
I've been waiting for a long time to see this project come alive I hope to see more 🔜
Love this, looking at getting a Mark 8 for a cool sleeper build this gave me alot of inspiration!
Soo, as I look at my smashed fg4 and knowing I'm doing this soon, I too would listen to this song while welding. Mind sharing fine sir?
Ah hell ya fam. Pretty Lights FTW ruclips.net/video/Y1Zqnr8jBxk/видео.html
You mean the song I used for my time-lapse that was 3 times too long lol
@@96LM8 bro you're the man thank you. Awesome videos btw. Super helpful for the spot welding 💪🏽
@@96LM8 😂😂
Love doing burnouts in my mk8!!!
I feel deft
Well done, especially on the tranny swap
yo where is this????!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
There is a mark 8 for sale down the street for me and I want it so bad but I’m broke
Dude: you have got to learn how to eliminate the scraping noise your recorder picks up while you narrate your video. Its extremely distracting and spoils the impact of your presentation. Just sayin'
Personally to me that is just so wrong. You should just go get yourself a Cobra. I'd be more interested in installing a 10 speed auto in a Cobra. Or installing a supercharger in a Mark VIII like this. ruclips.net/video/BPklbwDt7yc/видео.html
where did you get that latch from ?
www.amazon.com/dp/B002CXH0YM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glc_fabc_RHP98FGDYEC162NJK8DY
I agree with Impala LFX I have a MarkVII with a T5 and changed the gear to 3:73, my mustang in a hugo boss suite. Nice work bud have fun!! does it have forged internals like the 03 Cobra?
Not from the factory just powdered metal rods.
How much 0-60?
I wish people stop putting Cobra on these goddamn cars
