DIY AR500 Steel Gong Target Frame | Hanging Target Frame
I got tired of having to replace those cheap target frames every few outings to the practice range. I wanted to build something that would last and stand up to the demands of setup and tear down as well as also keeping things affordable. I built this hanging AR500 steel target frame out of structural pipe and some SteelTek fittings I found at my local hardware store. The targets I used for this project were used for a .22 cal. rimfire target setup and not intended for anything higher caliber.
Materials used:
x4 - 36" - 3/4" Structural pipe (legs)
x1 - 48" - 3/4" Structural pipe (horizontal pipe)
x2 - SteelTek 3/4" Side Outlet Elbow (P/N: 682-804HC)

    01 odyssey. At highway speed the van veers right when foot taken off accelerator. The steering wheel a actually ticks slightly left when this happens. Then the van corrects itself when accelerator is pressed again. And goes back to straight. There is tiny tie-rod play both sides. Tires have even wear. Van cluncks front left when accelerating after coming to a complete stop. Front and upper right motor mounts were just replaced. My nephew replaced both struts and springs about a month ago. Passrnger side vertical control arm bushing has some cracking. Van has 191,000 miles. All rubber suspension bushings were replaced at 135,000. Plus motor and tranny mounts.

      @@meridianjumper i plan to do a quick alignment check with strings. And rotate tires I did another check today. All bushings seem ok. I am getting a clunk from driver side inner tie-rod. Both inner tie-rods have movement. But very slight. The van gets squirrely when lifting of accelerator. It just doesn't feel like an out of alignment issue. I will be gone for a week. I will try to update later. Thanks for input

      @golfish8589 Год назад

      So I just replaced both sides inner and outer tie-rods. And still have movement and clunking. It turns out the lower control arm horizontal bushing is clunking when grabbing left and right side of tire and torquinig it back and forth. I removed the bolt and rotated the lower control arm out. The bushing looks fine. But the bolt is very loose when slid back into the bushing. This is where all the play and knocking is coming from. Should there be a brass sleeve inside the bushing?

    • @meridianjumper
      @meridianjumper Год назад

      @@golfish8589 Generally speaking there should be some sort of metal tube that runs through the center of the rubber part of the bushing to give it some rigidity. Most of the time when you purchase something with a bushing, the metal tube/support should already be installed. However, I have seen it on fewer occasions where the manufacturer doesn't install that tube and relies on the customer/end user to push it through the rubber.

    I had creaking, starting about a year ago, when turning at low speed and accelerating from a stop in a 2010 Odyssey (model year prior to that addressed by TSB 11-038). Greasing the top of the front struts resolved it. I'm surprised that the strut bump stops are in contact with the top of the strut body. Maybe that happens as the springs age and sag a bit? I used Honda Shin Etsu silicone grease, as described in TSB 11-038. Any silicone grease is likely just as good, but this was a good excuse to get myself a tube of Honda's famed Shin Etsu silicone grease. p.s. I didn't check the strut nuts, there was no need, but I have had one loosen on another car and it produced a distict clunk noise that was nothing like the creaking noise caused by bump stops contacting the strut damper body.

    What! The wheel pivots left and right on two points, the lower ball joint and the strut bearing at the top of the spring. Its either one or the other part making noise while turning the wheel. Normally the strut bearing is bad if popping noise while turning. Look up bad strut bearing video to see spring binding and popping because of bad bearing.

    Thanks so much for your advice. I followed your instructions. So much gunk - gross! I hope it works. If not, I suspect it could be the rubber gasket along the bottom of the dishwasher door. I was wiping it to remove gunk and pieces of rubber broke off. I guess it has lost elasticity over the years and become brittle. There is now a gap along the bottom edge. I'm wondering if that rubber piece (different from the gasket along the sides and top) will need replacement? Happy Easter, folks.

    This was extremely helpful! Bought this unit new, never cleaned that out for four years. It was leaking pretty bad. This fixed it instantly! Also, good tip on making sure the fins are put back properly. Knowing my luck I would have put it on backwards if you hadn’t mentioned that. Thanks for the video. You tube actually can be useful, it’s just not full of trolls!
