@@Dave-k9 could be a few things, but i guess most common would be a tired chain tensioner, over rev, stretched chain….only takes a single tooth jump and thats it.

The garage have just today mentioned potential oil pump failure as it generally runs well and just pops a code from time to time and one of the codes is related to something sticking. Getting it stripped to investigate next week. Seems a very complex system! Cheers for the reply and video

@@samellio no and no, he was in a052s, im gonna say 265/295, i was on ar1s 275/315. Im currently looking in to all of the bushes on my car as at present (apart from the camber and toe arms) theyre all the 170k mile originals :P

@@samellio cheers, garmin showed an ideal of 52.8 so was plenty even there….sounding quick and being quick are 2 different things :P i was just pleased that i could kick its head in for 15 minutes straight with minimal cooldown!

​@@Mh-ot1dshonestly been on the back burner for the winter. I'm trying to get back into it now that it's warm out. I have checked the timing 3 times before I threw in the towel but I am going to try and set it up like it was originally and hopefully it'll run like normal. I am getting sputtering and it running like crap for about 30 seconds before it dies. No codes or anything. It is leaving alot of soot on my plugs.

@@Mh-ot1ds no codes pop up for you either? I may do the old fashion way of finding TDC and stick something like a ziptie or a straw in cylinder 1 spark plug hole I'm wondering if I'm off a tooth or 2 and it's not able to adjust the VANOS to compensate

Probably, only thing that counts against perhaps is the weight of it, as it will naturally always be heavier than its 2wd counterpart

Thats normal, the hole is oval on the flexplate/flywheel to allow a little movement

@@listerofsmeg80 ok I see so it is fine if I’m able to move up and down just a lil from the crank hub as long as it doesn’t go far up or down I’m locked in , Im literally doing this right now to fix the timing.. after changing the cams and ledges something went wrong .. thank you for the response btw

If the crank bolt came out you may have a goosed engine. Mine did the very same on the dyno and it resulted in 24 very bent valves :( if you got luck though, you would be wisest to undo the cams themselves to take the pressure off the valves, that way you can turn the crank without hitting the valves. Once the crank is at tdc you could then bolt down the cams in the correct positions and time it from there. Hopefully that makes sense!

@@listerofsmeg80 thanks that helps a lot 👍 I’ve spoken to a few ppl that had there crank bolt come out and the lucky ones was the ones that it happen on low revs. The high rev ones needed a new engine. So I live in hope lol. Thanks again and I will be looking out for your next vid 👍

Yes i did have it installed, and it was tightened by hand until the chain became noticeably ‘tight’. Turned the engine twice to check position then took it out and reinstalled the actual tensioner.

If this is any help Doe, my boy told me stage1 is when the alterations carried out by the remap fall within the manufacturers limits I.e the car is only built to hold a certain amount of torque so the remap will improve ur torque within those limits, along with other things Stage 2 is when you now need to look at upgrading ur clutch , flywheel etc - basically you are pushing your car beyond the limits set by the manufacturer and now have to consider buying aftermarket performance parts to keep the car running safely God knows what stage 3 is

Simply put, Stage 1 is when no physical modifications are done, it's all ECU and Mapping. Stage 2 is when you start to upgrade things like intercoolers, turbos, exhausts etc on a stock engine. Stage 3 is when you make changes to the actual engine and no longer run the stock engine, be it an engine swap or modifications to the Pistons and engine displacement. I hope this helps

I did have aftermarket brakes but in reality the stock ones with good pads would have held up very well i think.

I wouldnt be running it too hard with 17ts and an off the shelf map. Custom tune is the only way to go.

The logging isnt perfect, and i was too lazy to override it. Pedal was floored though i assure you ;)

I just meant from a driveability perspective, as they have instant power. Rhd kits will hopefully start to become more commonplace in future. 👍

@@listerofsmeg80 i totally agree but the stock oem turbos themselves arent good when you throw some boost at them in terms of longevity, id highly recommend basically a pimped out stock turbo with billet parts as the stockers are great up to 500 wheel with a cheeky ethanol blend, and everything is pretty simple below 500 wheel in terms of what you need hell even oem turbos will push that figure out but will last a few weeks lol

@@listerofsmeg80 also dont know if you know yet but dont use the burble settings in mhd it knackers your turbo

@@88budz the stock turbos are very reliable. That's why you see people running 22-24psi peak on them. I have run high boost on high mileage stocks for years. The abuse they take is crazy and far beyond what you will see aftermarket twins doing. If you keep them below 21 psi peak with FBO they will run all day long and wategate rattle wont come I until 60-70k. They are a great option for anyone who wants to maintain stock spool characteristics, keep within a decent budget and shoot for 450hp.
