Motorcycle Adventure Rider
Добавлен 12 июл 2018
Different trips each week or so to new sights, on road and off road.
Old Raton Pass Road... how the old timers navigated through CO/NM mountains circa 1900.
This is a scouting mission for www.acrossamericabymotorcycle.com (my buddy Mark). Mark replicating a motorcycle ride that took place in 1919 on a 1919 Henderson motorcycle just like his. You can read more about his journey on the above website. This video is the New Mexico portion of Old Raton Pass Road as used by travelers circa 1900 to traverse the Colorado and New Mexico mountains (I have another video of the Colorado side, south of the boulders you will see in this video). It is unfortunately all closed to the public now, mainly due to vandals, littering, and a general lack of care for the land - so I am told. I left my GoPro camera running for the entire ride because it is only a few...

This is a short video about our trip to Daytona Bike Week this year (2022). Normally I take more video, but we were continually dodging the rain. So apologies up front for the brevity. Come join us!
Riding in New Mexico; dirt roads NM-57A and NM-165; Sandia Crest viewpoint.

Join Andy and I for some riding in the Albuquerque surrounding rural area, off-road and high-elevation scenic. We left Andy's house and, after a wonderful breakfast on the golf course and short stint on I-25, did an off-road section on NM-57A over to the Turquoise Highway (a.k.a. NM-14) and down into Madrid NM. We stopped at Maggie's of Wild Hog movie fame for a short while and then headed up t...
Riding Grandview Road, Original Entrance to the Grand Canyon South Rim

On a scouting mission for my buddy Mark, who is replicating a cross-country motorcycle ride that took place in 1919 on a Henderson 4-cylinder bike (www.acrossamericabymotorcycle.com), I scouted this 52.9 miles of off-road adventure. And I say "adventure" because that's what it turned out to be. Mark got a briefing from some forestry friends who drove this road in a 4WD vehicle days earlier who ...
Motorcycle Maintenance - brake bleeding, replace pads & warped disc
Просмотров 1293 года назад
Here we go with some motorcycle maintenance. First we start with my 2016 BMW R1200GSA, bleeding the brakes and replacing the rear brake pads. Also I used the 911HEX tool to run the ABS. Then we visit my buddy Joe's place and bleed the brakes on his 2012 Road Glide. Then we come back to my place to bleed my 2015 Harley Ultra Limited brakes and clutch, replace the rear brake pads, and also replac...

NM-165 dirt road up to Sandia Crest Recreational Area in New Mexico
Просмотров 7934 года назад
Take a ride with me and my buddy Andy up dirt road NM-165 to Sandia Crest Recreational Area out in New Mexico (I trailered my BMW out there). This ride starts at I-25 just north of Albuquerque NM @ NM-165. Take NM-165 east, which will turn to the south, and turn into a dirt road shortly after that. The dirt road is constantly steep and a bit washed out, but it's not too bad. Starting elevation ...
Daytona Bike Week 2020, Friday March 13th
Просмотров 4244 года назад
This is a brief video of our trip to Daytona Bike Week 2020. We went up on Friday the 13th (for the last two nights of Bike Week). What we didn't know on Friday was that Friday would be the last real night because the Mayor and City Council were hard at work on Friday evening enacting rules and laws to shutdown Saturday. What a tragedy that Bike Week went for eight straight nights but then got ...
What is the best type of flashlight to carry for motorcycle riders?
Просмотров 1264 года назад
I never bothered to carry a flashlight at all during daytime rides, right up till I got a flat tire while off roading and could not find the leak (it turned out to be a very small puncture). So once I decided to "get religion" about carrying a flashlight on all rides, I decided to purchase several flashlights to see what works out best for us motorcycle riders. Spoiler alert: This isn't about b...
New road in the Everglades, but mostly views from the drone
Просмотров 3944 года назад
Now that things are opening up a bit (from COVID-19), I ventured out to the Everglades yesterday for a ride. I was surprised that the gators and other critters were in short viewing supply, but the bugs were certainly abundant (it was a hot day with very little wind). I tried out a new road that I've seen several times before but never went down, which ended up being very nice. I was disappoint...
What other hobbies do I have? Skateboarding!

Just to put you at ease, all of this footage was shot pre-COVID-19. But since I'm unable to do as much riding in this pandemic, I thought that I'd assemble this skateboarding footage to share one of my other hobbies with you... Skateboarding! I'm 60-years-old nowadays, so I don't exactly "shred" any longer, but having grown up in San Diego CA on surfboards, skateboards, skurfers, and anything e...
Random ride in the Florida Everglades, October 2019
Просмотров 1184 года назад
I got a late start with no place in mind to go, so I decided to just slow the pace and talk about some of the surroundings that I usually ride right by. I ended up in an area that I frequent, so some of this will look familiar. It was a hot but otherwise nice day and I hope you enjoy the video. A couple gator sightings, a snake, and a couple good flocks of birds. Enjoy! Motorcycle: 2016 BMW R12...
Riding out in Dinner Island Ranch in the Florida Everglades
Просмотров 9314 года назад
This video is primarily a ride out to explore the Dinner Island Ranch Wildlife Management Area. Rather than coming out this way like I normally would (which can be seen in my video that visits Billie Swamp Safari), I took a road trip detour on Alligator Alley (a.k.a. Everglades Parkway), exiting on Snake Road to the north, then via 833 through the Big Cypress Reservation. After a mildly interes...
Black Friday 2019 - No mall shopping for me! Let's go riding in the Florida Everglades instead.
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.5 лет назад
Just a random ride out in the Florida Everglades on a beautiful winter Black Friday (Shopping Malls aren't for off-road riders!). It's duck hunting season, so we'll see that crowd. Then I'll just monologue as we take in the sights out to Big Cypress Reservation land. I'll talk about some new apparel that I'm wearing and show it to you when we take a rest stop at Billie Swamp Safari. We'll also ...

DK premium discrete breather & Arlen Ness Inverted air filter installation
This was an interesting journey. My great-grandfather was Richens Lacy "Uncle Dick" Wootton. I would love to be able to visit with the current owner of the Wootton Ranch. I heard rumors that he was wanting to build a house similar to that of my great-grandfather. It would be great to be able to just talk of the history of the land.
We rode it back in 08 and started from the Knoxville side. The roads definitely looks much better on your video
FAT BOY COUNTRY !!! 😎✌️
Are they biker friendly around those parts ? And how about the gas situation ?
Aqui desde Tegucigalpa.
Is prohibited the opposite of inhibited? Pro=yes In=no 😅
Should have bought it from Dennis Kirk,I did, good directions,15 install
A friend and I tried to take the old road in1999; I’m not sure where we were but we didn’t get very far before we ran into chain link fencing & locked gates. We were really disappointed.
I live near all the great rides in northeastern Tennessee. This is a nice ride. I like your video, but the broke-ass sound track sounded like an old record player stuck in one groove. Ride well!
Enjoyed the ride along. Let the good times roll...
Awesome opportunity, I wish this you’re was open to the public. I frequent the pass on I25.
Whats the deal with his flashing tail light. The only thing I can see to come from that is the reaction time will be slower if somebody has to brake driving (riding) behind him because you have that 1 to 2 seconds to try to figure out what the hell he's doing. Bad idea.
Great video! Im a 5th gen Floridian, my Dad had a hunting camp about 5 miles from Bear Island til the Government took ot for Big Cypress park. I was just a little kid but remember turning off 41 on the north side, dad rolling the buggy off the trailer and one long slow ride to camp. Good memories. Surprised there isnt a memorial for Flight 401. VJ 592 came down witin a 1/4 mile from where 401 crashed.
If that’s what it looks like in the Everglades on a dual sport then you just save me a trip
15:48 that guy must change his brakes every season..... _sheesh!_ 16:38 *Thank You*
This is so amazing. I’m reading across America by motorcycle, and his 1919 Henderson. The luxury we have today in our technology and our roadways is such a stark contrast to the real adventure of crossing the country when this bike was new. Thank you for keeping this piece of history alive!
I have a 20 street glide M8 do I need a tuner with this product
Yes
I just completed a Stage IV upgrade and my pistons were covered in grime from oil infiltration. I wanted to do this breather bypass as I also have an Arlen Ness inverted air cleaner, however, they discontinued this particular one and now require drilling and tapping the frame to collect the oil. Perhaps I shall look elsewhere. Nice video, thanks for doing this.
Thank you sir!
Sweet.Smooth looking roads.Gonna get there soon i hope.
I really enjoy your videos. Live in the Orlando area and want to do a bike trip to the Everglades. Some of your videos are perfect for that.
Thanks for the detailed how to video. 1 question does the Arlen Ness breather kit come with the 2 different sized spacers if using breather bypass
It's been some time since I did this installation and posted this video, but I displayed all parts that came with the kits. It is actually two kits and you have to set some parts aside. One kit is the Arlen Ness air filter (which includes parts to do the install without any crankcase bypass), and the other kit is the crankcase bypass by DK. The DK instructions tell you which parts to use and which to set aside, but I made the video because those instructions were vague at times in their descriptions. If I didn't show two different size spacers in the video, then they don't exist in the kits. I will add that DK customer service was excellent (I had to call them because my DK kit was missing parts). If there is something you want to ask about or need (like a different size spacer), I would recommend calling DK. I was very impressed with their prompt response and that they quickly sent me what was missing, along with some other goodies as apology.
For any new riders watching this keep your rpms up on these type of rides. A road like this should be second and third gear. These guys are seasoned riders but a new rider getting caught in one of these turns going up hill in 4th or 5th can easily stall and go wide coming g back down. Just a little tip. Great ride.
rode it in 2020 on my 98 Honda Valkyrie was a great ride
Awesome
As a member of the Bent's Fort Santa Fe Trail chapter, our mission is to see many historic sites along the Trail. The significance of this is that 'Uncle Dickie" charged freighters but not the natives. Who owns the land? Would be a thrill to see/drive this road for members who respect the various sites we've seen over the years.
Does IS fit Monster sucker Arlen Ness
Getting ready to head that way in 2022, so thanks for the overview.
Looks like a great ride. Incredible scenery and virtually no other traffic to interfere with the trip. ✌️ Thanks for sharing 👍
I could smell your brakes smokin!
What pipes are you using? They sound great!
Vance/Hines, header pipes too.
Yes
This would be a pretty drive during the fall season. I miss driving on those country roads in Kansas. This was a treat!
Lived in Raton for 4 years. First time of seeing this road. Love the country roads but their hard to get to knowing most of them are private. Thank you for sharing.
Just rode it last week. If you ride it counter clockwise, it is a much harder ride. There are 3 uphill 10 mph curves that are crazy.
My last name is Wootton, I'm a decendant of Richens Lacy "Uncle Dick" Wootton. Thank you for this video. It's exceedingly hard to find any modern media about him or his accomplishments. Building this road would go down as one of his largest. I'd actually love to visit this area one day myself.
very gd video
Where did you get those smaller black spacers because I got the longer black spacers with my air cleaner kit you never said where you got those black spacers that are not so wide And I got the same air cleaner kid that you got with with the same backing plate and I got the longer ones
Rode it and hated it with a passion. Won't ride it again. Better roads to ride north of it. Apparently the triangle it gets name from the wood boogers that were encountered in the area when settlers first arrived.
Great video, what an experience! Surfed in from Google's Route 66 doodle...what song is playing at the end here?
Very thorough!!
It looks like they did some road work on the second “side” of the triangle. I was there 5 years ago and the road was in bad condition. Thanks for the video.
The Devils Triangle part of The Frozen Head State Park, there an old train hidden there as well. Look for the old coal mine. Pretty cool to check out.
Great job I love that look
Hey man, was wondering if you’ve had any weird encounters out there with other people. Been wanting to take a ride through the Everglades.
No "weird" encounters worthy of mention. There are usually several people out there fishing along the way, but other than that, I typically don't see too many others. In fact, it's very rare for me to see other riders. Also, I don't normally stop in the middle of the Everglades unless I'm going to do some drone flying; I most often ride through the Everglades to a pre-chosen destination (like a lunch spot or something).
@@motorcycleadventurerider thanks for the quick response. Just wondering if I had to worry about anything since it seems pretty remote and isolated.
Any idea what frequency the Big daddy's remote is? I have a EMad that looks like the big daddy and I believe the original remote was similar, but not obtainable at any reasonable price.
No idea about frequency on these Fiik Big Daddy boards, but I will say that one remote will run any board (but proximity must be very close, so interference isn't an issue). Call Xtreme Action Park in Fort Lauderdale FL (954-491-6265) and ask if they still repair or have parts for Fiik skateboards. They've got a couple guys there that know a lot about electric skateboards. Maybe they'll have something that will help you out.
@@motorcycleadventurerider If I did have the original remote, I could use my SDR and a ton of patience and find what it is, but then the actual coding is another ball game. Sigh, lol....Hey, thanks for at least replying back. I may just go with a whole new ESC, 18650's and possibley go 48v since I have an older brother with a death wish, YIKES! lol
You guys need to ride the Snake in Shady Valley TN. It’s not as long but more challenging. The Harley shop there or store has pretty reasonable priced stuff all things considered.
was your speed the posted limit or how much higher? Im planning Dragon ride for this coming June
Posted speed is 30mph. This is a good pace on a Harley, not pushing things at all, which is what we were doing. If you want to go fast, I offer that the few times we've been up there, law enforcement has been present. Happy riding!!
Make a stop at Brushy Mountain Prison And the Hardware store
Are you in Santiago? Cool video. Subscribed.
