A Coastal Magnolia

Hi, I’m Edwige - A Coastal Magnolia. I live in coastal Florida, and the hues of the ocean and the vibrant outdoors find their way into my creativity. Think you are not creative? I believe everyone has the ability to be creative, it just may be in different ways. Maybe painting is not your thing, or woodworking. Well, I don’t focus on one type of art or craft here. I paint, I work with resin, I’m a beast with power tools, and I even sew once in a while. You’ll never know what I’ll be doing next!

MY FIRST RESIN BLOOM! Oh boy this is going to be fun! #resin #resinart letsresin
Why have I never done a bloom before? This is so much fun and so gorgeous! I’m inspired by the great Julie Cutts at @PouringYourHeartOut! She makes it look so easy! I won’t be listing these for sale on my Etsy because I have a bit more work to do to make them better, but who knows!

PART 4 of ADDING STRING CHEESE TO RESIN. I’ve nailed it, I think! #resin #resinart letsresin
Просмотров 1,6 тыс.7 часов назад
Thin resin strands have been eluding me for a while, only because it’s so tricky to know how long to let your resin thicken up. Would you believe that I let my white resin thicken for an HOUR? And this was a fast set! At that point, it was too thick for anything else, but it was perfect for my sticky strands! I’m planning on a few more experiments with this. Why? Well why not? In this video: Le...

How cute is this little octopus? And I think he’s smiling at me! I had some leftover resin so I decided to use it on this octopus mold with some alcohol inks. I didn’t have a good plan so I kind of was winging it, but sometimes those turn out the best! 😍😍😍 If you want to take him home, he’s available on my Etsy! He’s one of a kind, so act fast! acoastalmagnolia.etsy.com/listing/1859233699 I am ...
NOT WHAT I EXPECTED But not a fail! Use glass beads to fill big molds and save $$$ #letsresin

I started Ted the Turtle a few weeks ago with leftover resin, and now it’s time to finish! As I do a lot, I changed my mind a few times! I ended up using glass beads to fill the void, since it’s such a big mold, but the end result was not really what I expected. But it’s ok! I still love it, and I already have ideas for what I need to do next time. I am now a Let’s Resin associate! Use these li...

How adorable are these!!! I didn’t have any crushed red glass, but no problem! I used pink and red alcohol inks on top of clear crushed glass and VOILA! Red glass! I used the new Let’s Resin UV Resistant 1-1 resin because I intend to give these as Galentines gifts to my bestie neighbor gals, and present them as sun catchers. So I want that extra UV resistance! This is all an experiment, and each time I try this technique I am getting closer to the thin strings that I want. The trick is letting the white resin thicken up just right so that is makes strings as it’s pulled apart. I’m getting there! RECYCLE THE WHOLE WINE BOTTLE FOR THIS PROJECT! Making a Christmas tree from wine bottles #letsresin
Просмотров 1,4 тыс.21 день назад
Before I take a wine bottle and crush the glass for projects, I cut the tops and bottoms off because the glass is thicker there and does not crush well. So what do I do with the top rings? They are too pretty to toss. Watch the video and see what I make with them! Honestly, I think this one is not my best work. You can also put a little acetone on a paper towel and clean off the unwanted resin that might have migrated to the clear part of the glass without touching the resin you just applied.
Great job! But you're wrong about which side is the top side. The open side is the bottom, and the floor of the mold is the top side. And, yes, I agree that a little mica powder in the center would give some definition to the center of the flower.
Wow! Such a beautiful bloom! I can't decide which side I like the most.
It was hard to choose for me too!
You have to show us one of your finished boards!😊
I will!
I tried to find you on facebook. I didn’t see you. I would love to have some of these shells. Do you sell them?
a Coastal Magnolia Community Page on Facebook! I am planning on offering these shells on my Etsy very soon!
Great job! Just a suggestion from a former cake decorator...never cut off the top of the piping bag. You must twist it from the top down to use the contents. If you cut it off it is bound to ooze out of the top of the bag where you are trying to hold it. Twisting it makes it easier to squeeze out what you need. I can't wait to try this...I have my piping bag all ready to go!!!
That is such a great tip (no pun intended). the bag is so huge though! I didn’t want to fumble with all of that, so I cut it off but I cut it too short! I think I’ll leave it intact next time. Thank you!
I’ve noticed you don’t do bottom of glass ,may I ask why ?
I don’t resin the bottom because you risk an uneven bottom. The resin tends to pull downwards, so it would not be ideal! Great question though.
@ thank you so much 😊
You did an incredible job on those blooms… and for your first time… WOW!! They are so pretty Edwige!! I can only hope my first try will be anywhere near this good!?! ♥️♥️🇦🇺
You can do it!
GORGEOUS!
thank you!
I love this so much.
thank y ou! Sadly, it was broken in a freak wind storm in October, at a show. (
That white ring of light is really annoying
I know, I hate it! it’s the ring light that I use for proper lighting while filming
Do you do bottom of glass as well can’t really tell thank you ❤
nope!
So pretty!! Thanks for sharing.
These are so pretty. You could use another shaped mold and use your seaside colours.
oh for sure! I want to make a bowl next.
Beautiful coasters
thank you!
nice...better than my blooms 🤣 I think i am using the wrong resin..as I was trying to use what I had.
It is always a learning process! What resin are you using? I think the trick is the white- letting it thicken just enough. you can’t add the white petals too soon, or they get lost.
I have used sea glass in some of my resin projects
I think you will be surprised at how well these might sale. Pretty coasters.💖💖💖
Thanks so much! I’m hoping to make a few and see how they do! But these were for practice!
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful 😍
Thank you! Cheers!
Beautiful. Congrats!!
I’m really excited about this one!
This is awesome,no second coat needed❤
That’s the goal! ❤️
Congratulations! Very very pretty.
Thank you! Cheers!
I really like it...both sides!
They are beautiful! They look like hibiscus flowers.
So pretty! ❤️ Try some blue!
I love the idea!
So so pretty! 💕
Thank you so much!
Those are fantastic.
Glad you like them!
Love them, love the look of the bottom too. ❤
They are reversible!
@ACoastalMagnolia they really turned out beautiful
So beautiful! How do you decide to use mod podge and resin over it verses just resin?
I prefer resin, but I like to show the Mod Podge as an alternative because not everyone likes to use resin.
Perhaps you should have used smaller eyes and he wouldn’t be “creepy “ 😁🇺🇸🇺🇸
100%!
Wow! fantastic idea.
Thank you! Cheers!
Love love love. I didn’t see the glass tumbler.
Thanks! I don’t tumble my glass.
So beautiful!
Thank you! Cheers!
Beautiful!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Those are so cute.
Thanks so much!
Guess you didn’t hear when I was telling you that you wouldn’t be able to see the glass beads. Lol The eyes look creepy because their eyes are in the side. Only predators have eyes in front. Still a cute turtle. Pretty colors. I love that mica powder too.
ah, so that’s what I was hearing! Strange about the eyes on this mold. They are in the front!
You found your string cheese! I knew you could do it!!! Great job!
Thanks so much! It's been a long journey!
@ ❤️
Tbanks for not being greedy with your pricing. These are so cute!
You bet! I want everyone to be able to enjoy the art!
I use an old metal cookie tin inside a garage bag (to minimize shrapnel) .. still use a hammer, to crush bottles inside the tin.. i hold the top off the garbage together with the hammer inside, so the pieces don't fly into my eye. I can crush 3-4 bottles at a time, depending on the size of the tin. The tin will wear through, but like 500 bottles later.
I found a new way! How I crush the glass: Crushing glass: ruclips.net/video/7fePTT_cvWE/видео.html
I really love how you simplify your projects. I always overdo everything, so watching you is comforting, and I can tell myself to stop and rest.
It's so easy to get carried away! This is my therapy, so simple is best because it helps my brain relax!
Don't you cut yourself easily if you don't tumbler? I want to crush my bottles, too, is why I am asking.
Nope! I handle it ALL THE TIME, loads of it. I do sift the small bits and dust out though since slivers are sometimes problematic.
It would have been nice for you to show the process inreal time. Amazing ideas
I have loads of other videos! This was meant as a quick complete overview.
They’re great, I love them!
Glad you were finally able to achieve the right consistency! Great look! I’m going to try it too!
Thanks so much! I'm excited for you to try it!
Very cool! This is the first time I've seen someone add the alcohol ink directly to the mold and then pour clear on top of that. Looks like a real timesaver and that is one cool octopus/turtle! Lol
I love that technique too!
Beautiful! So glad you accomplished what you were hoping.
It was worth all the experimenting!
Super cute craft
Well look at that!! 🎉commitment leads to perfection. ! I admire your dedication and works ! A great lesson to all to never give up
I’m glad you like it! I learned a lot through this process!
Finally!!!
tell me about it!
That would be so cute if you drilled a couple small holes right where the tree is going to be and added some fairy lights. Now I have to try that lol
I’ve tried adding fairy lights to a few of them. It’s a really cute idea! here is a video ruclips.net/video/SFMO6g0cMFg/видео.html
