What Dogs Have Taught Me with Julie Hart
США
Добавлен 10 апр 2017
Dogs have been my greatest teachers, not only in my profession of dog training, but in life lessons. On my channel, I will share what I have learned by training, rehabilitating, fostering and rescuing dogs since 2009. I have had a pack of 2-4 dogs of my own and brought in hundreds of foster dogs into my household. All these dogs have taught me a lot about dogs:, how to help dogs in need, what dogs really are, what they value and what they need to thrive. Many dog training methods limit dogs and their owners in how dogs can progress. Dogs have taught me that humans and dog training mantras put limitations on dogs that don't need to be. I also have more in-depth online learning content available at www.hart2heartcanine.com

Indie's Story: From Beloved Pet to Wild Survivor and Back
A tale and testimony about the resilience and sociality of dogs. Indie and her two pups were living under and abandoned trailer in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The rescue I volunteer for and I decided to trap the dogs and help them find safe, loving adoptive homes. This is their story of rehabilitation and recovery, along with some tips on how I help feral dogs like Indie progress to happy pets.

Best Way to Backup a Collar and Leash
Просмотров 27921 день назад
This method of backing up a collar and leash is the most secure way I have found. Not only does it back up the collar in case of buckle failure, but it also backs up the clasp on the leash, in case it catches on something and pops open. The leash clasp is actually the most common failure in my experience. A must for fearful and feral dogs.
Why Turning Away from a Jumping Dog Doesn't Work - and How to Modify it to Work.
Просмотров 5 тыс.Месяц назад
Why is turning away from a jumping dog may not be as effective as commonly believed? When humans turn their backs on jumping dogs, they might inadvertently encourage the behavior. Dogs often see this as a playful or engaging action, reinforcing the jumping rather than discouraging it. Here’s how to modify the method for better results as we learn from what dogs do to each other. This revised me...

Does Your Dog Jump When Coming to You?
Просмотров 1482 месяца назад
Sometimes dogs link behaviors together to form a pattern to get a reward that we may not want. Here my foster dog Indie has convinced herself that she needs to jump on me, then get down for a treat when I call her. Changing the entire pattern helps to change the end behavior. I show how I did this with Indie so she now comes to me and sits.

Feral Dog's Sensitivity to Human Influence

Indie illustrates how sensitive and aware dogs are to our body language. In this video Indie is a newly trapped feral dog that was living under a trailer for quite a while. At first she rebelled against walking on leash, But quickly she made progress. Here, Indie shows how little we actually have to do for our dogs to take notice of our changing body posture when I walk and slowly make changes ...

Untangling a Lost Dog
Просмотров 334 месяца назад
Today I look out my window and see a dog in my courtyard. I don't know how she managed to get in, but she was and then she got tangled in my electric fence wire. This video shows how I untangled her. Being calm and not panicking is key so the dog stays calm. This is such a weird random occurrence but it was a good example of how to help a lost, trapped dog.
