Dungeness Crabbing Report | Half Moon Bay
Went out with Andy and Patrick for some crabs. We used a total of 9 hoops and had to work to find them. We covered various depths ranging from 30ft to 190ft. We found more in the deep and most of the crabs were very good quality.

Ling Cod Action with LIVE BAIT
Просмотров 5722 месяца назад
We set out on Sunday 9/29/24 in search of some big ling cods. This was the last weekend for nearshore rock fishing before it closes for the month of October. The conditions were not ideal and the bite was really slow, but we did manage to get into a few! We are looking forward to trying out this spot again come November along with Crab!
Monster Halibut | Half Moon Bay

Pat, his brother Ryan, and I went out of Half Moon Bay to do some nearshore coastal rock fishing. We went to a nice area with reefs and sand in between and hooked up to a variety of rockfish along with a huge new personal best halibut.

Quick session out to the San Francisco Bay. We caught 3 nice keeper halibut before the wind kicked us off the water. We were met by CADFW at the dock where they asked us some questions and also showed us how to identify the gender of halibut.
Halibut & Striped Bass Fishing | Alameda

We went out of Alameda and got in some pretty decent action. There were missed opportunities and many shakers. Nonetheless, we put two solid halibut in the boat and one striped bass. It was a fun day out in the bay with my buddy Pat!

Acrobatic Rainbow Trout
Просмотров 1848 месяцев назад
Went out for a few hours on my birthday and had some action trolling for trout. It was a rather slow day (at least when I was there). I only saw one other fish caught and did not see anyone catch any from shore. I had a great workout trolling without my motor since no gas motors are allowed at this particular lake.

Cool vid. Looks fun! 😊
Right on! Was a Crabby day 🦀 😂
What I wouldn't do to be able to go crab fishing 😢
Try it make it out before commercial opens up!
Dud, DON'T put your crabs in water that isn't oxygenated..........they'll drown. Crabs use a lot of O2 to live.. Simply put in a covered container upside down and they'll "go to sleep" for 5-6 hours.
Thanks for the tip! I usually throw them in my livewell but we got lazy. I’ll make sure to do that or put a bubbler.
Gteat catch though. How many hours did you guys spend out there?
Thanks! If I remember correctly it was about 6 hours.
What’s a grind! But overall we did good compare to other boats 😂🙌 tks Jake!
Was a grind but we got some nice ones for sure! 👊
Colors...being on the water with friends is the bonus. 22 is not bad. I had several trips this year with just a few crabs.
Thanks brother! Yea it’s been pretty tough this year, but always fun being out on the water with friends!
sweet vidn jake! what kinda boat is that looks like our klamath 18 footer
Thank you! I have a Hewescraft 160 Sportsman.
First. Let’s get it Jake! 🦀🦀🦀
Thank you! 👊
Where were you catching them? I go there on my kayak and launch from Capella but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
I caught most of them central lake by Big Island however I have caught a few not too far from Capella too. I just try to stay away due to crowds and boat traffic.
Hey Jake what boat did you have again and how many feet? Thank you.
Hey Erwin, I have a Hewescraft 160 Sportsman. It measure at 16.5ft long.
That is so dope! I hope one day I can say “that use to be us on the kayaks” 😅
Thanks and yes absolutely speak it into existence brother!
Nice jake
Thanks bro! 🤙
Like the puller. I like the little giant boat.
Thanks Thuy!
Is this Half moon bay?
Yes it is!
@@reelin_it_with_jake Was that on weekend?
@ yea Saturday
Line haulers make all the difference, such a labor saver.
@ absolutely! I’m still sore from moving all the crab gear 😂
I was out Saturday and crabbing is tough that day. The weather was great lots of fog in the morning but cleared up and it was a beautiful day. We were very short on limits though.
Yup! Everyone that I spoke with said they struggled. Hopefully it picks up soon!
Turn your Scotty mount 180° and the pin that secures your puller goes on the hole closest to you. That’s why you’re having to use that strap to hold in place.
Also add a leash to your puller I’ve seen them break off when the swells are really big so that way if it does break off, you still keep it
Good to know. I suppose it’s more secure with the hole closest to you then? I used the strap for a little more peace of mind 😅
Also, slide the black band on the pins on the puller..., to keep the pins from shaking loose.
You got lots of JUMBOS! That line hauler looks too easy hehe
Thanks brother! The hoops are super heavy though. Think I should’ve got the XLH instead. My body is still sore 😂
Hi dad it’s bubba

Great video. I’m going on the Sea Wolf in a few days. Can you recommend what’s a good time to arrive to get a good spot on the boat? And where did you get that squid rig? I think I have something similar from P-line and another from Ahi. Did the boat supply the frozen squid? Sorry for the questions. It’s my first crab/rockfish combo trip.
Thanks Raymond. I recommend trying to get there about 30 mins before the time that they email you to be there. I got the squid rig at Fisherman’s Warehouse. Yes the boat did supply frozen squid. Have a great trip!
Thank you. It was rough on the ocean and only got to fish for about an hour. Only caught 1 rockfish. Very few fish were caught. Everyone took home 9 crabs each, good size too.
@@lsr1238 was this today? Sorry to hear the conditions were not ideal but at least yall got almost a limit of crabs.
That was Monday Nov 11
Very nice video! Deckhand doing great job 👏
Thanks bro! She’s definitely an awesome deckhand! I need to get the other two kids up to the same level 😆
So cool Jake! My girls are all grown up but fishing with them is a memory I'll always hold tight to my heart. Such fun!
Thanks Tim! I hope you and your girls still go fishing from time to time!
Great video. Some things I like while boating are half gallon milk plastic jugs with a sponge inside. The plastic jugs are free (as trash) and can be cut to form a “scoop” that can conform to nooks and crannies of the bottom of the boat to help bail water… and the sponge can be used to get almost everything out. Quantities and locations not amenable to a bilge pump. And I’d also recommend anyone on big water carry a signal mirror. I don’t think it’s “required” but cheap and could be life saving. They make ones that float and fit in a pocket. And they’re invaluable for getting attention even from great distances with sun (and even the moon’s light at night). Many thanks for the info. Excellent gear and tips.
Thanks for your tips!
Y’all caught some nice ones. Can’t wait to see you go back for some crab. Great video 👍🏻
Thank you! I’m very excited for crab season! 🦀
That's one hell of a bit .
Thanks!
Going Sat. Rittenberg bank.
Get em! 🐉 👊
Before you gaff the fish you need to measure the fish to see if it's keeper not after gaffing.
Yup I agree. My buddy was careful not to gaff through the mouth or body. You can tell from the video and it swam back down no problem.
It is just fun to hang out with friends on the water. Catching is the bonus.
That’s very true!
Last one til November
Thanks! I have updated the date in the description of the video.
Monster! Way to geteeem Jake
Thanks!
Nice work Jake!
Thanks! 👊
Nice Hali!
@@MoreThanFishing thanks Jun! 🤙
Grats Jake! but... power boat butt don't count 🤪
Thanks brother! Just come on over to the dark side! Thuy hasn’t convinced you yet? 😂
@@reelin_it_with_jake Every time I fish out of a Thuy's boat or other power boats reminds my how much I love kayak fishing LOL
On a jig omg. Nice Jake. It's thick dang
Thanks bro! 🤙
At 5:37 are you guys talking about the lamiglass mark Wilson xcc 795 rod?
hi. how did you set up the rod holders on your tool chest?
I believe my buddy had another guy help him modify it.
Video should be called “wind, wind, wind…just wind”. lol. Good fishing bro looks like an epic trip.
Yea I know right?! 😂 kept hearing that in my sleep for a few days after the trip. Thanks!
Nice to see you out there with the entire family. Awesome video!
Thanks Nicholas!
Hi Jake, can u tell me how u install that additional round hatch and what size? How u make the water not goes in because from what i see, it was have the water channel that goes straight to scupper
Hi Jey, I had CCK install the rear round hatch for me. It’s needed in order to install the AKA mounts. I put flex seal over the hatch to prevent water from leaking into the hatch.
@@reelin_it_with_jakedo you have the video or any near picture and details close up on that area u install? How much and how was the flex seal function?
@@jeyoutdoors704 I’m not sure I’d have to look back at my photos. Shoot me a msg on instagram m. The flex seal tape holds up really well.
@@reelin_it_with_jakei try to find your intstagram but failed. Can i have ur account name?
@@reelin_it_with_jakeim trying to search your ig but not find it. May i get ur ig account name bro? Tq
can u tell me how you install that additional round hatch? is it any leaking there?
I have a 2015 hewes craft sportsman 16. Love it. My 9 year old loves it too. Great video, great family
Thanks Joseph! It’s an awesome little boat!
Awesome video! I was amazed by how many tuna you caught. I'm watching this video from Japan. By the way, do you use Japanese jigs and tackle over there?
Thanks for watching! The jigs I use are made from a Japanese guy!
No way! Are you using Japanese jigs? Which jig maker are you using?
Excellent!! It's informative and interesting to learn what sort of data is collected by DF&G.
Absolutely!
Damn bro! As a father of two boys and with the struggles of having more children, I get emotional when I see family bonding like this. Love it brother! The fishing was just a bonus to memories you’re making for the kids ❤
Thank you brother! It’s a bit much at times to handle with the kids, fishing, and filming but I really enjoy every moment! This channel will be a good video journal of the adventures we have! 👊
Nice video. You’re well spoken. Thank you for your knowledge.

What bait you used for halibut? Thnx for sharing
Either anchovy or white swim bait
I find hmb rockfish pretty small size
Most near the harbor are a bit small. You will need to go further for some better quality RF
@reelin_it_with_jake how far out? I fish on inflatable so usually ~ 2 miles is my max so far
@@dayliving2020 not too far at all. Probably a few miles
Great vid. Did you have any worry about strapping down the front under the hood? Tesla hoods are thinner than a traditional one.
Thanks and yes I did. Never had a problem though. Seems like the front towards the T emblem was where it was thinner.
@@reelin_it_with_jake OK I see. So you strapped it down closer to the windshield where it's a bit thicker? I'm getting a 15ft canoe, so Im trying to be careful not to destroy my drin hood. Thanks for the quick response!
