    I didn't really get how you allocate your note to a specific folder. It sounded like your said you make all your titles the same to pull them in but that can't be right? Can it be done by adding tags, i.e the tag #electronics Will pull into the electronics folder?

    • @fundamentalised
      @fundamentalised 10 дней назад

      I use Folder notes to create a new note in the folder in question, with the name of the folder as the title of the folder note. Then in the folder note, I create the dataview table that has the following line WHERE contains(file.folder, this.file.folder) Which brings in the notes from the current folder. You can use tags in this as well but separately, by adding the line... FROM #categories/books ...for example. By using just one of these you either get all the notes of different tags in the same folder, or all the notes in the vault with a certain tag. By using both of these, as I do in some cases, you get all the notes in a certain folder under a certain tag. You can filter the notes in the way you want like this. Hope this helps! If you want more, shoot me an email at theo@fundamentalised.com and I can answer in more depth. Thanks for watching!

    Why use clippings if you have Readwise?

    • @fundamentalised
      @fundamentalised 17 дней назад

      Clippings is generally when I think the whole of a piece of writing is worth capturing and storing for reference. When I use Readwise it's because the piece deserves processing, and then only a small proportion of the content makes it through to the vault as highlights. They're very similar and I'll be the first to admit that I'm still a very heavy Readwise user after this new feature has been added!

    Thanks Theo for showing me a new level of organisation in my Obsidian. I get how the syntax needs to be, but writing it goes over my head a little. Thus, I've gone to ChatGPT 4 and asked for an Obsidian expert. I have explained what I want, and through experimentation I have a good result. So far, for each folder, I have a File, Folder, Hastag, Created, and Last Modified table. I specified the date format to make it compact, and I have specified removal of the parent folder - as you say it's a redundancy. I will try the pulling together of multi-areas as you have in your contents folder.

    You could also say that you don't need expensive or fancy tools. It's all about how you use them. The beginner writer uses a normal pen and the nobel price winner for literature too. The old masters in art used often tools that were more primitiv than most tools beginners can afford today. The practice and live long learning make the difference.

    hey is there a way in obsidian to have tables like what we have as lists in slack channels ? Basically creating a table within a note where a column can have datatypes like date, select dropdown, checkbox, etc.

    • @fundamentalised
      @fundamentalised Месяц назад

      I see what you mean - where you can specify the sort of data that's there to select from. You can edit this metadata in each note - you can add a 'date' property, for example, and select off a calendar specifically, or add a checkbox property that can either be yes/no, or add a list property that you can select multiple values from a drop-down list for. Although you can't edit this in the table directly, you can use the plugin dataview to create a table based on these properties. I'll make a video soon about using properties in Obsidian notes and what you can do with this data. Hope this helps a little bit. Thanks for watching!

      @@fundamentalised it still good idea, because year later you can forgot why you use that folders systems etc. Also it can be helpful with AI organization, so AI can understand what go in what folder.
