@@JarrydMitchell you don’t need a 8 ounce sinker to suspend a bluegill or anything about 3 ounces is all you need doesn’t matter the current not unless you’re fishing bottom but using a float 3 ounces is about all you need I suspend bluegill way bigger than

@@bigmike123moose no but when your dragging the Ohio it helps for suspending a bait behind the boat, it really pops out far away plus you have the added benefit of the hook being set or partially set when the bottle gets pulled under. Kinda like a jug line.

@@naildrvr2047 those big fish have potential to get even bigger! We need as many big catfish in our River systems as possible so they can pass along those genetics to the next spawn and help combat invasive species, it can take multiple decades for a fish to get that size so they’re not easily replaced.

Thanks for the video Jerryd. That sure was a nice flathead. Both the Wabash and the White are good flathead waters. As others have said, thanks for releasing the big cats, thanks for using a sling when weighing and thanks for the nice evening on the water.

@@bradbex9051 I try to keep at least one with a float on the leader when I’m anchoring. That concrete and riprap is unforgiving though no matter what you’re throwing it seems like.

West fork white river is the river I fish mostly but I do fish East fork and the wabash from time to time. We’ve had a good amount of rain this year I’m wondering if they’ve been going into smaller streams and ditches.

@JarrydMitchell I've seen vids of guys catching them in small rivers/big creeks. I've thought about trying the patoka river muscatatuck river and blue river .

@@hobsonschoice8649 I’ve had my eyes on the blue and the patoka river, haven’t had the gumption to fish them yet though. I have fished patoka reservoir a few times, pretty good fishery down there.

The bucket is basically a homemade drift sock, it helps keep the boat straight while anchored.

@@JarrydMitchell Awesome yeah sometimes fishing right on the bubble/ current line in the water can be very good them ole flatheads like to Cruze it and usually if you catch one and release them they will stay around 100 yards of were you catch them depending on time of the year.. Carolina rig, 12 inch 80lb ande leader snelled to a 10/0 HTT mad catter HD hook. 6oz bank sinker above the Carolina rig. 40lb ande mono mainline spooled on an abu Garcia 7000. Medium/heavy big cat fever rod. I hope this helps. Feel free to ask more questions!

I do have one more question, I’ve been fishing a Carolina rig with 60 pound braid main and 60 pound mono leader and 8/0 circle hooks. I was just curious if this works or if there’s a better alternative. Also I seem to get a lot of debris on my line such as leaves when fishing my local river so I was wondering if that would negatively effect my fishing and if there’s a better rig to go with in that situation.

@@coltonwalsh9974 unfortunately I haven’t found a solution to debris buildup, I’m not sure if it makes a difference with the bite or not. One thing you could try is making a drop loop for your sinker, I’ve found it helps with snags. With 15-20 mono I’ll tie a loop knot big enough to loop over a sinker, then I’ll cut the tag end 3-4 inches and clinch knot that to a swivel. When you’re rigging the rod thread the other eye of the swivel on your mainline where your sinker would normally go. I hope that makes sense..
