If I had to catch shad in the winter from shore the first thing I would do is utilize whatever docks I could throw my net from. If I didn’t have any docks I would try and catch other bait from rod n reel. Carp, crappie, bluegills anything legal. However if there is a warming trend the shallow water is going to warm up first attracting the plankton and the shad giving you an opportunity to catch some in the net and put them up in the freezer for future trips. I hope this helps
If its winter time, with those water Temps walk the windward shores shad can't handle water that cold every yr a shad kill happens. I go to patoka in indiana and just pick half dead shad up. Can fill 5 gallon buckets with half dead shad.
Great video Jarryd. One of my favorite/hated parts of catfishing, catching bait. lol
Awesome work out there. Thanks for sharing some good content. Just subbed to the channel. Keep up the good work and tight lines.
Thanks for the sub! More videos on the way!
Man they were deep and schooled up good!
Throwing a net in the winter sure is some work.
It can be if you’re like me and need practice throwing a big net lol
@@JarrydMitchell I'll stick with the 6 foot net. 🤣
How to catch them if you don't have a boat

Okay sorry about that
No worries, I just might make a video on how to catch bait from the bank in the winter time now. Thank you for the video idea.
