The first ride on a bike that has stood in a garage for several years. It is not right yet....but such a pleasure to get it up and running.

Cocker Spaniel enjoying Shouldham Warren
Great looking car. I too have a BJ7 in Florida Green but my restoration story is just starting. Your video has given me another boost to keep going. What is the bracket sticking up on the dash top?
For rear view mirror
@@alunbliss I can see the the mirror on top of the screen now. Presumably that gives better rear visability with the roof down.
Yes….I prefer the top placement, though. I also have them on the front wings…….soe don’t
Lovely cars. Very good show.
Great video. Was a great ride!
Great Bikes and video. Very worthwhile Charity.
Lovely Beautiful ( as we say in Norfolk ) Austin Healey 3000. Shame they dont make a modernised version today. Im sure it would sell like hot cakes.
Just read your piece in the Revcounter, you were very fortunate to take over this car at the time you did, looks a peach! I've owned them since 1968 and still enjoy a quick drive out in the countryside
Thanks, will definitely try to keep it for the summer
Very touching story. You convey very well in this video the emotions associated with owning and driving an old car. Your Healey is a beauty, hopefully it’s a keeper !
Thank you for the kind words.
Unique video i quite enjoyed. Restoring my father's as we speak as a tribute. Well done sir.
Thank you kindly
Lucky you!. They are really great cars. I am on my third one. The further you drive it the better it will get. Pretty bulletproof in all departments. They are very long legged cars so capable of huge journeys if you have the stamina. Mine have been to the south of France and back five times, Italy and Spain. All in their stride with no problems. Easy to maintain as well. Stick with it!!.
Many thanks. Took it out for slightly longer drive and it seemed to run better and better. A little too cold now!
Too much wind noise on first outing to really hear the engine. Will make an effort to record some next time
Where are they selling these for two grand..every where I looked there at least 5 grand
Your bike problems are a lot like your rambling, you never really get to the problem or point!
Fair point.
I see log of wind noise in the recording. I also tested one and it caused lot of windnoise around helmet. Any suggestion or comments?
Sorry - a little long, but it records much of the long weekend.
Had aimed to film the ride out ( which was great) but sadly the camera failed. These are phone snapshots of the day.
Sorry about the wind noise at times….breezy up there….
I have one and it came with a Slip on end can Which deletes the catalytic converter, sounds unique with its 360 degree fireing order
Those CCM bikes are nice. Something about them, can’t explain. Envious. Cheers. 👍🤪🇨🇦
Yes, I was drawn to the more retro style offerings. CCM are a little pricey, though
Mad Max for these riders looking for parts in an electric world
No silly comments……..just a look at some new bikes. A great day. (A bit busy)
Really solid motorcycle. Find a reasonably low mileage bike and you will not be disappointed. The motor is solid and the design is good
I need one in my life
Great video. Lovely looking bike. I've just bought the F750GS in white having spent a week on a direct access course 10 months ago. I bought one because I was so familiar with it and it rides so effortlessly like on rails with a load of grunt. However in daily use doing non training stuff Im finding it so heavy to move around and being only 5'9 It feels as if Im going to drop it unless Im on perfectly flat ground. Ive got the low seat too but find it a bit stressful at the moment. I popped into the dealership yesterday to get a part and had a sit on a couple of 1250's and was amazed to find how easy they are to move around and sat astride one they are so balanced with the weight so low down I never felt as if I'd drop it unless I did something silly or went off road. I was also surprised to find that the difference in size is hardly noticeable. I'm persevering with the 750 for now as I've only had it for a few weeks but I'm pretty sure I'll be finding the extra money next year for the 1250 to be honest. It's really disappointing as I love the 750 and I've become attached to it already, but I'm fed up of having to plan in advance where I'm going to stop and plant my foot. One day I won't have chance to plan and over I'll go! Yes I've got engine and fairing bars etc but having dropped a few bikes in the past it always ends up with some broken bits and hassle. On that note, someone pointed out that a 750 is much harder to lift up than the GS because those big cylinders sticking out mean that it only falls to about 45 degrees. It seems you have none of the problems I'm having though possibly because you're not a short arse like me! Keep em coming as I'll be interested to see how you get on with it.
Many thanks. Yes, will post an update as I have now covered about 500 miles. I do find it heavy to move around, but no problems at all when I come to a stop.
So, Speedo needs repairing, oil is going where it shouldn’t and the hand guards will be replaced……….
In for repairs at the moment. Will post an update when it is finished.
Hi Alun, I live in South Korea and I’m thinking to buy F800st 2009+ year. How is your feedback about this motorbike?:)
Very nice review. Thanks allot mate. I also bought one lately. Was surprised how compfi it was because I'm more used to have an upright position.
Hi, I live in South Korea and I’m thinking to buy F800st 2009+ year. How is your feedback about this motorbike?:)
Hi Alex, i live in Austria. i dont have it for very long but got tons of positive feedback about it. im 190 cm tall and it feels quite comfortable = a bit sporty but compfie. breaks ar super amazing for that old bike..... in curves you will have to lean mor to the side than with a shorter bike like my KTM 690 duke. all over after the testride at the shop it got me totally , beautuful, feels super good and easy, reliable, good brand, abs, good for taller people. hope that helps. take care
I have a lot of sympathy for you as something similar happened to me with my scrambler , I’d owned it for two weeks and the temperature sensor had to be replaced which took nearly five weeks all at the tail end of lockdown when everyone keeps getting pinged to isolate and deliveries for parts was seriously delayed all whilst trying to start a new RUclips channel. 😡
As an engineer the hardest faults are the intermittent ones and they nearly always end up being an electrical issue and often a bad earth somewhere. I agree with you mate that you should’ve pushed for compensation of some sort. Nevertheless, glad you got it solved and thanks for sharing.
What saddle bags are those?
I am seriously considering one of these . I am just about to do my test trainning, so it would be my first bike.. think for the money , being belt driven and engines that seem pretty reliable there bang for your buck , and yes they look slightly dated ,but still an extremely good looking bike...
I just bought a 2007 model, this is my 3rd bike, having a Kawasaki ER6F 2009 and a Versys 2018, this is such a lovely bike, very solid build with much more stable ride than I could want for the money and spec.
I just bought a 2012 F800ST in Los Angeles and am loving it! Your review helped me pull the trigger and I am not disappointed.
Great to hear. Pleased I posted now because it was an after-thought. I think they are good bikes - just not so good for the poor roads that I ride on most of the time.
Hi Max, I live in South Korea and I’m thinking to buy F800st 2009+ year. How is your feedback about this bike after 1 year riding?:)
What a great trip ! Thanks Alun to share this amazing video
I think the scenery is better near Lyon!
Musings about the bike start at 12 minutes.
Bike sounds and looks great :)
A few snippets from a great evening in aid of our friends in Australia.
....excellent video ! I think I'd be terrified of riding anywhere on the right in case I messed up at junctions ...but riding with others means you have people to follow and get everything right and avoid any confusion !
Thanks, Steve. Lots to learn about the video game - but I did enjoy doing it.
