Barber Blue 2024 - Kevin & Jean Barber's Caravan
Просмотров 1027 месяцев назад
Jean & Kevin Barbers old caravan had been sitting in their driveway since 1983. I think they only used it once or twice. After Jeans passing, we were asked to clear the driveway to deter thieves. The new owners, planned to restore it back to it's glory days. On Sunday 15th June, Steph & her family/friends came in to remove the caravan. Not an easy task as the van was in front ways with the draw...

It's pretty sad, almost 50 years later and the mall is almost desolate. There is hardly any people that go into town, it's almost abandoned. Back. here there was people every where. Such a sad situation
This makes me sad :( used to have so much character
What type of headlight is that? Brand
Hi there, that is a H-D Genuine Day Maker - Was very expensive, at $800 Australian Dollars. Fitted when new, so just went onto the cost of the bike when I finaced it :)
I dont have the bike anymore, sold it and now have a 2022 Low Rider ST - I will do a video and post it over next couple of days :)

Nice shots! Keep flying.
So weird not seeing hi-vis and people just wandering through the site.
Not fat slobs!
I was 2 in 1975 and so glad I grew up in Lonny
I was born in 1983 and raised in Launceston - I remember those play blocks being there as a kid and they were always gross and sticky from drinks and cigarette butts/litter were always inside them. Ah memories....haha.
Was this a first model year Spyder?
Yes, bought it brand new, 2008 model. $30,000 Au dollars, was very expensive for what it was. Only did 5,000 klms on it, over 4 years. Have had 3 Harley Davidson bikes since. 😊
@@Akaroa_Pilot oh, I see...you went back to the dark side, lol...I'm just kidding of course! 😂😂So one and done then for you with the Can-Am 😁😁
and yikes that sounds pricey!
@@PurpleOnThree yes, went to the dark side and loving it 😍 I haven’t ridden any of the new can ams, but I understand they are a lot better. If I went back to 3 wheels agin, I think it would be a Harley. I will go check out what model you ride 😉
@@Akaroa_Pilot I just love my F3 Limited...I have 57,000 miles on it. I say ride the HD trike and the Spyder to decide 😁🤗💜 I'm Jody by the way... What is your name?
No technology in people's hands! So greatful to see this! People were genuine and honest back then compared to today.
And his name is jhoooooon cenaaaaa
that was close glad that nothing worse happened 👍
The first in Australia. Launnie's always been an innovator, but it's slowed in recent decades
How did you get your daytime running lights to only be the Halo lights? Is there a setting in the menu or did you have to do some wire modification?
Hi Pete, I had the lights done by a professional, so what you see here is that he wired them so that they came on with all the park lights, and also you can turn on the fog lights as well ( I have them off here.) So, your choice to have them come on with the key, or only when you turn the lights on. We chose " Lights on " Hope that helps.
I love the 70s.
This idea only works if you also have medium to medium-high density housing close by, so that you don't need to build endless car parks. It also means you have customers and population density adjacent the mall right on-site. This and the park is one of the best places in Lonny, but the population is still too sparse to make it thrive.
Launceston thrived in the late 1800's.
“eventually the entire city centre will be a series of malls and semi malls” 50 years later and thats still the only mall
Umm Quadrent Mall, Centerway Arcade, Civic Square, Yorktown Square, am I missing something 🤔
So vibrant back then, its completely dead now its really sad.
Well there is a little thing going on right now called a global pandemic. Parramatta in Sydney is also a ghost town at the moment.
Since then, the increasing growth of car-dependence and Euclidean zoning has limited vibrance
Bogan central
Some very young faces there Brings back a few memories love it Thanks John 🍺🍺🍺🍺
Thanks Nigel, it is a great video hey ! :)
What’s the road like to get to the mine?
Hi William, the road up to Stanhope 2 is steep and requires a full 4 wheel drive. You could also walk up, its about 500 metres up. This is from where we were parked this day. The road from Avoca to the boom gate is OK, after that you have to be careful in a normal car, as after Fenhope Bins, the road is very narrow. Hope this helps.
@@Akaroa_Pilot thank you very much
Love those 70s women's cork sole shoes They were very cool at least you would never drown...
Nice and sharp footage I like it. Pro Tip: use the AE Lock so you don't get harsh changes in lighting when panning around ;)
Thank you for the feedback and tip. I have only just seen your comment :)
I was nervous that this may have been the day I was sunbathing nude in my backyard. But I don't see me. Phew. 🤣🤣🤣
All is good Jas, however I think I did see you in your front yars when I drove past :)
Looks like a really scenic spot! New subscriber 🙂👍
Yes Alex, a beautiful lake, on a very calm day, alas no sun. Regards John - New Subscriber 😊
A couple of handsome dudes there :)
Downtown malls were built in many American cities from the 1950s to the '70s. They started out just like this, seemingly filled with promise, and gradually the downtowns deteriorated regardless. Reading the other comments suggests that happened here too.
Loved playing on those alphabet blocks as a kid!
Yeah I played on them as a kid in the early eighties.
Nice video Johnny, thank you for sharing... :)
Launceston CBD was busier back in 1975 than it is today.
Yes it was nick. See you at the library. Alan.
And they did all that with people walking around, no huge barriers or high-viz. Yet somehow everyone survived.
All Nancys now
If i had 1 wish it would be to own every car in this vid
The Mall was refurbished in 2018 ruclips.net/video/l8HJTC0Soy4/видео.html&index=27
Sad it is that it closed permanently. Launceston needs another shop like it.
I live here and r.i.p Birchalls 😭

This is so wonderful to see. I can remember the Mall being constructed. I loved this era in Launceston ... had the time of my life :-).
Good to see my brother Greg Cooper and his friend Shawn (Armstrong) part of the onlookers.
Luv the funky bleepy music.
and stay down!
I live here
cool bro
No one fucking asked
You live in the mall? Where? I,ll bring you some tucker !
Wow over 100,000 people in 1975. Today it's 106,000, no change!
