    I've been loving these videos! What's your setup? I have a hard time getting good video with a telephoto lens that isn't pretty shaky? Do you use a monopod or tripod or are you just ridiculously steady-handed? 😆

    • @birdocs
      @birdocs 6 дней назад

      Thanks, glad you enjoy them. Will be making a heap more! I do use a tripod, although I have been using a photo tripod (Manfrotto Compact Action), so for video its quite a flimsy setup, but not too bad overall, does what it has too. without a tripod there are moments where I am stable, and moments where I fail, will need to hit the gym XD. In my upcoming video I have a mix of both. I use a sony lens the FE 200-600mm F5.6-63 G OSS. So it has pretty good stabilisation, and use a sony a7s III.

      @@birdocs thanks! I'm trying to find a more lightweight tripod to use for better video with my big lens, but I'm currently using a Canon 7D Mark II which doesn't have image stabilization, nor does my lens have amazing IS so I just have to be very, very still - I'll be hitting the gym as well haha

      @@nathanmixon39 haha yes these lenses can be quite weighty. I am looking now at these lightweight aluminum video tripods, but the prices are hectic. As you want something that is easy to carry around and set up.

    I've been fortunate to have visited South Luangwa NP twice and enjoyed some fantastic wildlife sightings on both occasions. My knowledge of the area's rich bird life is sadly lacking, however, so it was an education as well as a pleasure to have you identify some native species around camp. Thank you! (Btw, two of my most treasured memories of South Luangwa was seeing the noisy throngs of brilliantly coloured southern carmine bee-eaters nesting in the river banks. And, on night game drives, coming across nightjars resting in the road - including the spectacular pennant-winged nightjar.)

Although the european migrants are not here yet, they will be starting their routes soon. Oloolua needs a good day with patience, listening and observing. But around Nairobi for me Karen side where these stops are, are always good for birding.
