I drove Tesla's newest Model 3 for a Week, here are my thoughts about it!
Yes that might be the reason but over here we even have double lane roundabouts, so I guess that’s a challenge 😂
Dear sir, Where can I order these LED lamps and associated breackets for my Twizy? And what are the order numbers for these? Thank you in advance for your response. Yours sincerely, G. Jonker.
Hi! I got them on Amazon but you can probably find them even cheaper on sites like AliExpress. I think mine are these: amzn.eu/d/2Zbb1NV The brackets are custom 3D printed, I found them in a forum and saved them here for me: niko.yt/LED-Scheinwerferhalter-Twizy.zip
I got used to steering wheel buttons, now i dont want to go back to stalks, maybe for gear change haha its so uncomfortable on the screen and with my seating pos. i cant reach the screen.. but indicators are so comfortable on the steering wheel, on roundabouts just remember to click right side down button so u dont even look on the wheel.
Yup, same for me, only thing bothering me is the highbeams but you still can’t control them with the new stalks anyway so…
In sweden you are supposed to change indication while existing (if needed). So you may indicate left while going in to the roundabout, and the when you exit indicate right.
It’s maybe not the nicest move but I never understood we the removed them in the first place, because its inconvenience specially on roundabouts. And how much really cost a standard stalks. Anyway nice video 😊
Completely true. I’m sure it wouldn’t cost tesla the same ~900€ to still install them in the car…
I belive it's because they don't have so many roundabouts in the US (or Cali)
So, stalks are optional now, and can only be bought as a kludgy after market part? For a € 40.000-60.000 luxury car? I am amazed and not in a good way. Interesting. I drive a Renault Twizy, and I had to buy the windows as an after market part. But that's a € 5.000 (second hand) L7e toy car. Quite the difference. And you know - it has stalks as standard! 🤣
That’s correct, even though I wouldn’t refer to Model 3 as a luxury car. It’s far from that, it’s a premium sedan maybe. Still - most of the time I’m not bothered by not having any stalks when driving the Highland and the issues I have with the buttons aren’t completely solved by the aftermarket stalks… Love it, got a Twizy as well with exactly the same experience haha! Mine now even has a Start/Stop button and a phone key 🤓
They not only look to stick further out, they also look like they're further back behind the wheel.
Yes, they are a bit further back but still quite well reachable!
Could you please create a summary of the total distance driven, the amount of kWh charged, the average price per kWh in each country, and the total charging time?
So total distance driven and total kWh used are already mentioned at the end of the last part that went online this week. Average price per country is difficult to calculate as I don’t have an exact overview but we charged all in all for about 12 hours for the whole trip!
@@dieserNiko Thank you!
Is it faster to drive 180 and charge, or just drive 130, 140 and charge less?
Always depends on the car and charging curve. With my car it is faster to go 180 and charge more often than going slower and charge less. I tested this on the same road with similar conditions!
@@dieserNiko i meant with the model 3 rdw 2022/2023, charging on the supercharger v3. This year i plan to drive multiple times from holland to austria zum skifahren. Thanks for testing;)
Should be pretty similar to mine, only that you should have a slightly bigger battery and an even more efficient motor. So ~180 and more charging is probably still quicker if traffic allows for it :) but of course it’s more expensive as you need more energy and it might be more stressful (I prefer driving at 180 to driving at 120 as I personally find it less stressful weirdly) 😂
1:55 74 Sentry Events! 😮
Yesss a lot going on in Budapest 😂
Don’t you think sometimes, this road that can’t be right? Do make all your videos with the phone? Very long trip but as always fun g the I watch.😊
I did think that but at that point we were too far in to turn around 😂 Yup, filming everything with my iPhone (and the GoPro for the driving shots)! It really was long and a lot to drive but so fun to see all of the scenery! Glad you enjoy it 😁
I was looking forward to this video, just a question isn’t it dangerous to load ik the night, I the first video it looks like an abandoned place in the dark. Always enjoy your videos 😊
I wouldn’t want to charge there all by myself or walk around those areas by myself but as we weren’t alone it was okay 😅😂
Hello Mate! I love to watch all of your videos & your daily activities. But i noticed one think your channel isn’t received more views & subscribers cause your video SEO score is very week according to your demand. So If you want, I will help you to grow your channel. Thanks!!
would you recommend the AWD or RWD ?
At leas for the european market I would always recommend the RWD as long as you don’t need AWD multiple times a year to not get stuck in snow or mud and as long as you can live with the RWD’s range on a daily basis. It charges so good, it just doesn’t make any sense to spend up for the bigger battery in most cases!
@dieserNiko thanks, I live in ontario so the AWD makes sense in this case
@Rander Yesss that definitely makes sense! Also afaik you don’t get the BYD batteries for the base car that we get in europe, so might as well be that “your” RWD has worse charging than what I could experience in a SR over here! :) AWD is a very good choice then!
@dieserNiko makes sense, thank you for that
you’re welcome! :)
It’s a very nice car and so spacious and roomy. I prefer the midnight cherry red with white interior and the RWD LR. ❤
Yessss the MCR is also very pretty, but Quicksilver is nice and decent while still not being boring! I love it 😁 The LRs sadly all get the worse charging LG batteries :(
Great video, could you please share the file to 3D print the mountig brackets? Thanks
Sure thing! I found them in some Twizy forum, so I don’t want to take any credit for them but I uploaded them to my website because I didn’t find the post anymore! niko.yt/LED-Scheinwerferhalter-Twizy.zip
Great video! Did you end up fixing it further? Im not too technical so im planning to just do as you did in your video and keep it like that.
I had a friend 3D-print mounts that go around the headlights and hold them in place but other than that I did not change much further (of course I optimized the cabling a bit but nothing major)!
Great roadtrip, hope I had a Tesla when I was in Austria, so beautiful
It really is! Really nice to drive through! :)
What a crazy car. Took a while to show this ride. Nice to see you having fun on the ring. And wow this car is different.
It’s an absolutely crazy machine and there are literally no words to describe this experience. So happy to have had the chance to ride in it 🔥🔥
@@dieserNiko Um ehrlich zu sein, da bin ich ein wenig neidisch. Obwohl ich selbst natürlich ein unwahrscheimliches Glück hatte, Euch alle zu treffen. War schon besonders.
Jaaaa 😁😁
Great video. Unfortunately it got me so excited I just placed an order for the same car, colour and interior. My wife’s going to kill me 😂😂😂😂😂
Hahahahaha 😂😂😂😂 I’m sure your wife will be fine with it after the first trip! It’s surely not a bad decision! 😁
What car do you prefer M3 or the Seal??
Personally I would choose a LFP Model 3 for charging curve (which I totally forgot to mention in the video) and also choice of material. Also I like Tesla’s software a lot better as I can see the Seal is running some sort of Android and I just can’t stand Android 😂
I have not m3 but 330 I and seal. Acceleration is seal Comfort BMW Value seal. Infortain ment seal
@indrawiguna5282 Yes compared to BMW they are quite a bit ahead I would say, even though the new BMWs have pretty good software compared to a lot of other legacy manufacturers 👌🏼
Oops I thought this said Australia 🇦🇺 😅 oh well I stayed and watched and here’s a comment to try to drum up some engagement stats for you. All the best!
Haha they do sound really similar tho! Thank you for watching, I really appreciate it! 😁
What’s the average price of the Tesla superchargers in 🇩🇪 here in Holland it’s about €0,23 k/wh
We are probably around 0,40-0,45€/kWh on average, and that’s really pretty much the cheapest you can get at fast chargers… goes up to almost 0,90€/kWh at other CPO’s stations easily!
I really admire your dedication and effort on doing such a long trip with that car. Very representative on what long distance EV trip is. At least with that car. Constant charging, constant planning, constant worrying if the charger will charge or will it charge with enough power. That stress on top of driving is just..., no. I really hope you do not do those often. I wouldn't. This shows how EVs are no the solution for long frequent trips. May be in the future, who knows. Never the less I'm amazed on the engineering of those charging stations. Imagine anything over 100KW/h of constant output. That is just... WOW. A Nuclear plant is producing around 1GW/h for one block and you manage to deliver to one vehicle from 100KW/h to 300KW/h. Imagine having 100 vehicles at top peak - 30MWh. This is the equivalent of one day production on a small to a medium hydroelectric plant (in Europe). Every charging station can charge a small village or a street of about 10 houses on peek power. The cable that you put in your vehicle is used to deliver the power to that small village. For the newer generation that sees only electricity as something given and moan if it is a low output charger - read a book about it, or even easier see a video series on the matter. Then I hope you you will understand what an astonishing achievement and how hard the system has to work to deliver such enormous power to just one vehicle, let alone 100 or 1000 at the same time. And you might understand and be humble about it when those chargers are slower or even do not work. Or even try to consume less of that precious "liquid". All that I'm saying is that people think that the production and distribution of liquid fuel is hard and dirty but production and distribution of electricity is easy and clean. Think again and appreciate it more .
Well actually I’m doing trips like this on at least a monthly basis and that’s also why I plan that much - I want to get every last second of optimization out of the trips because I love to do that. I could also just go and drive and charge however the car tells me but that’s just not my kind of traveling. And to the amounts of power put out - sure it’s a masterpiece in technology but the hardware developments make you get used to high power outputs and it’s just nothing special anymore. It’s also way easier and more efficient to transport that electric energy over long distances than it is with fossil fuels. For the whole trip I used about the same energy as 15 liters of petrol contain, so just to keep that in mind.
Nico, totally not bored nice video and I sure loved the model Y in the back with the midnight cherry red❤😀
Thank you, love to hear that 😁 Yessss that color is just amazing!
every second weekend i drive 2100 km in Norway. M3P
Awesome! I’m currently on a almost 5000km roadtrip, left on tuesday and will be back home later tonight. No problem at all! Videos about that coming soon :)
Nice video and indeed a great car, little expensive for most people , but you had a nice experience😃
Yesss absolutely! Also way too expensive for me haha but I’m very lucky to have the chance to drive such cars from time to time 😁
Awesome review! Do you have the intel or AMD Ryzen model infotainment?
I still have the Intel infotainment. It’s a little slow from time to time but generally still way faster than the infotainment in most cars, so really not much to complain about!
Mine is 2021 LRDM with performance upgrade. But I’m having a few issues. Clicking from axles area when slowing down, rear shocks squeaking, lane centring erratic, top mounts squeaking and knocking… I’m so torn. It’s good but not great yet.
Yes I can understand that. It’s not a bad car but still room for improvement. I have the chance to deine that car now and then and there’s always little bits that stress me out a bit.
I really want a Tesla Model 3, but I don't think I'm ready for these kind of trips, if I'm traveling somewhere I've never been or for Vacation, a trip like this might be somewhat fun, however, at least once a month I have to travel 9 hours to go visit my family, those trips are kinda annoying already, cause it's a long drive, and the Tesla makes it 11 hours according to their Tesla map for charging. I don't think that would be much fun.
I personally think that would work out but of course you have to be ready to accept those two hours more. I‘m always happy to have a short break after about two hours of driving but also I don’t have to travel that far regularly when not on vacation!
Nice video, just wondering is this your daytime job?😊
Thanks! No it isn’t, I‘m just doing this in my free time for fun - can’t make money from my videos yet but I love to do it anyways 😁
Hi Niko, I’m wondering why you still driving with an older software version? But nice to watch your videos. Greetings Max.
This was in the end of may because I had so many videos recorded, so just a recording/publishing timing thing :D
How did you activate Autopilot while beeing in trailer mode? Is that thru the Enhance Commander (as I see you have a S3XY Know)?
Haha no it’s even easier - you just disable trailer mode in the dynamics settings. Of course it’s not made for that so gotta be more careful when using the system like that!
Hey Niko, I recently got the Ultra sing,e motor and also having issues charging. If you have access with a Teasla home plug granny charger, please can you help me check if you just get stuck at the “Waiting” screen showing cable connected but no charging
Sadly I only had access to the car for that one day as it was a press loaner to @vanessalisaoelmann. I heard before that some cars have issues with Tesla’s chargers as they do grounding checks differently. Does it work with another charger?
@@dieserNikoThanks and I will look into this, however just tested it on a Podpoint wall charger and it worked fine but my Tesla charge cable is able to charge a Polestar 2 and Audi cars without issue
@rinksdinks Yea some UMCs have different ways to communicate with the cars I think and the different charging logics will react differently. I think Audi will charge on pretty much anything as long as there is a control connection and power on the pins 😂 Volvo might be more careful with that!
I like this family sedan. :)
I love it 😂 nothing better than this one!
This video is 30min to long for the content and please stop recording while walking, it's just awful to watch all those swipes. Content is ok
Thanks for the feedback, it‘s kind of my style though to go more into detail and not only do shorts about the result. I like to go more nerd level and show what‘s happening behind!
@@dieserNiko I get that and it's good to care for the details. However, maybe try to record more steady and cut out walking, it's just unnecessary. But nevertheless, keep up the content. Improvements come with time and experience.
@callsaul8835 I‘ll try to optimize that for sure! Thanks! :)
Its also awful to see you not know the difference between "to" and "too".
@@JD-env1 Ich kann dir gerne mal den Unterschied zwischen Unwissenheit und Versehen erklären...but feel free to explain the difference, I bet you never make mistakes / autocorrect in a foreign language.
As always very nice video, really enjoyed it❤
Thanks a lot 😁 always happy to have the opportunity to share those experiences :)
Hey I'm using an obd dongle to feed data into abrp. Is there a way to use bluetooth to handle data transfer from the obd dongle to a raspberry pi?
Should theoretically be possible by connecting the pi the the adapter and changing the device path to the bluetooth dongle. In my testing I didn’t get it to work with bluetooth though, that’s why I used the USB adapter!
Just picked up a used 2020 plate (UK) model 3 SR+ with 42000mls on it as a second EV and I love it, so much that my first EV MG4 Xpower is staying in the garage as a weekend toy.
Very nice, love to hear that. Model 3 just is a good and very fun car, even though MG4 Xpower is also super fun to drive!
Are there any monthly subscription fees that you are paying? You don't have to say how much, just what features you have to pay for monthly.
There is premium connectivity which is ~10€/month. Other than that there are just systems I host myself which I don’t pay extra for.
i don't like how you held your phone dude. You could have done the test much better by turning off the feature and drive the same router with the feature on. Then save your dashcam clips and tadaaaaa
But the dashcam quality is absolutely trash, so I would have to use a gopro or something similar!
Funny to see tourists where I drive daily. Have had EV since 2021. 3 years ago it was a charging wasteland. Today it is super easy with all the public DC chargers :)
Yes it’s awesome! So many chargers there and also so many EVs, was so sad coming back into germany with all the gas cars again…
Works perfectly here! Low beams.
Awesome!
The Model 3 Performance is a really great car, even with this old battery.
Yesss but imagine how much better it could be with a newer battery 🫨
I guess there's a substantial difference between the Fremont and Shanghai models in this regard. For once those of us in the US are actually getting the better battery.
@@dangrass This problem is not new to the Model 3 Performance. The charging performance and driving performance in the Model 3 Performance coming from the USA have always been better than those from China.
Yup! The Panasonic battery is so much better than the LG battery… lucky you that you can get that one!
I have the model y 22 with matrix and with this new update it does absolutely nothing different than before. Maybe this update was just a place holder for US market?
It does but just when the highbeams are not active! Have a look at my pinned comment and the clip I posted to Twitter, there you can kinda see what it actually does!
I‘ve read a lot of comments in the last week and today I was finally able to confirm the dynamic cornering lights actually working but in a weird way. They _only_ work with auto-highbeams enabled but not actually active (through street lights or whatever) when going above 30km/h. I‘ve posted a short video on this over on Twitter as you can see here: x.com/dieserniko/status/1804633707787231502 I couldn’t see this on my normal test loop as the highbeams stay on for the whole loop so I need to adapt my testing in the future there!
Hello sneaky guy you look like a serial killer
I can assure you, I‘m not! :D just a curious EV driver that has to film light videos at night :D
I def can see the difference on low beam in the dim lit areas. Hard to explain but on my RHD MY model there two bright lit blocks on the left side of the car which quickly move with steering wheel. It only works above 30 kph and it has to be dark enough to see the light pattern, at which the high beam usually comes on. High beam doesn’t “turn” but the lit area is so wide so I don’t think the turning is required per se. Not a patch on iQ light which physically turn the lens, though. Haven’t driven on motorway yet but I don’t think it will solve the “blinding oncoming truck while on autopilot” problem.
Alright, awesome explanation! I think I actually didn’t drive at night since I got the update but I‘ll try tonight and see if I can confirm!
Just pinned a comment with what I just experienced and posted as an update on Twitter: x.com/dieserniko/status/1804633707787231502 You were completely right, it just works with the lowbeams!
Bmw does adaptive headlights better using both the main lamps and additional side bulbs that light up when turning steering wheel in that direction. Tesla only has the slightly moving bulbs (which is how headlights are adjusted) so probably why it doesn’t so much.
Tesla LEDs don't move.
That‘s true but generally with moving lenses you are getting better light into slight corners. I had that in my e-Golf and it worked like magic, not sure if Tesla‘s headlights just aren’t able to tilt that far or if there‘s another reason.
Actually they are able to move quite a lot and with this update they should be able to move horizontally towards the corner you are steering to!
@@dieserNiko You are correct, I don't know what I was thinking. There are motors in the headlight housing. I forgot about that.
@@dieserNikoHopefully they get improved soon with another update.
Kinda disappointing tbh😅
really is, I hoped for so much more but still have to test it without the highbeams and see if that changes anything!
So gay
Try with low beam it turns
Didn’t have the chance to test that yet, but I will try!
