    I had a conversation with a top level race team mechanic... he stated they change the clutch drums after every 3 races. Because of the hot and cold cycles?

      I believe it. If we ever get a chance to run a National 206 event I 100% will be running a new clutch.

    Last year did my first ever practice day for my son. Kart ran fine at home the day before. Get to the track and it would barely idle then die. I figure out it’s not getting good fuel. Swap the carb, fuel pump, change all the fuel lines EXCEPT the line inside the fuel tank (because I’m an idiot). After hours of work I finally give up. My son is super disappointed. Next day in the garage I unscrew the fuel pickup line from the fuel tank and the dry brittle fuel line breaks off and falls in the tank. I haven’t felt that dumb in a long time.

    In last video I watched of yours you showed cam timing you said your cam was stock not been touched you are lying your cam has been twisted they don’t come from Briggs at 51 degrees at .006 lift you are misleading people

    How many hours of racing would you recommend a service like this being done?

      If the head is new I would service the top end after the first 2hrs of use (1 practice day and 1 race day). After that initial service you should be good for ~10hrs. My local club runs a 10 race season so I service my engine before race 1, then after race 4 and a final service after race 7. New springs and head gasket at a minimum each service.

    You forgot to zero out your degree wheel or you have a twisted cam take your first four measurements and compare to briggs rule you're toast. I'd try again zeroing out your degree wheel you were off four degrees from the get go be careful what you put out for viewing

    I was watching another video you had. You had a driver along with some spacers and washers just for the dyno so wouldn't have any clutch slippage. Wondering where I could get one of these any info would greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    You’ve left a lot out here. One, the chassis needs to be checked and if needed straightened. Contrary to your statements higher horsepower engines bend the rear corners of the chassis up over time. Two, you left out ride height and axle height adjustment prior to any changes being made to correctly distribute the weight. Three, most certainly seat position changes are an essential part of setup, even for the entry level karter. It’s the single biggest thing you can do to change the handling of the kart, given the 160 pound mass you are repositioning.

    The tape indicator is a good trick. Thanks. They used split pinch bolt collars for cycle-cart axles to keep them from sliding. Perhaps some could be made. I suppose that the axles could be designed with a snap-ring to take the thrust load, but then it would have to be thick enough so the groove would not cause the shaft tube to break. Very nice parts.

    Great video! Would have been interesting to see runs after each step of service to know which has the biggest impact. Pull after new air filter, lashing, valve seats, etc.

    15% seems excessive for an out of the box l206. I check mine religiously and they are never above 5%. When I check my leakdown after I get it back from an engine builder it is below 1% cold.

      So this engine had three days of running on it. In my experience it’s common the valve like to leaks after the first few heat cycles. After the seats are lapped up and run on the dyno they read close to zero cold like you said.

    I was guessing upper for failure.. Then punched the window and then broke at the crank. I just wonder off the flip had anything to do with it? Like over reving upside down? Great vid!

    You're missing a rod bolt - it could be a connecting rod bolt failure. That would also be consistent with seeing minimal damage to the rod journal and cylinder wall.

      Ya we added 2 teeth from Heat 1, 1 to help getting through the pack and another to help with pushing through the wind.
