Awesome acoustics, luc😊
Hey thanks man!
Well I guess he could always perform with pornos for pyros and do some James songs
For sure they all have different band opportunities they could do these songs with. But I am also sure the fans wanna see the "main group" back together, sometimes the "band baggage" can be too much and it makes sense to play with people that you can get along with.
They'll make big pets
You can’t replace the original! My bad I was gone too long.
It's hard to replace an original for sure! All good man, ive been on a bit of a break from lives but will be coming back in the next week or so! How have you been?
Hey, I think this is really cool way of learning or teaching and demonstrating.
Hey man, thanks for the feedback! Appreciate it!
And this is my... FOOOOOUR LEAF CLOVERRRRR!
Ha! Not sure I get the reference:)
@@MusicByTheMeasures You stop at measure one of the bridge. Those are the first lyrics of the bridge. They're what's coming up, right after you play that fill. 🎶
Hahhahahah I have such a “bad habit” of not actually listening to songs I teach or do videos for. Clearly I need to change that. Haha thanks man!
Man, I bought this .45 the same year I picked up sticks. Still have it. You'll get the fill, it's not that hard and you're using a metronome.👍 Great song! ❤️🥁
Thanks man!! And it is a good tune!
Good lesson, but for starters i think, 6 days?!
Ha thanks man. I clearly need more practice!
Awesome channel
Hey man, appreciate it!
Christy was a GREAT keyboardist. She didn't try to overtake the songs - she served the songs. Sometimes less is more, and she seemed to master this. The magic is sometimes in the subtlety. Sometimes, we can be looking for a bolt of lightning, when a multicolored butterfly floats by on a summer breeze.
I really need to go thru all of Fleetwood Mac’s catalog, cause you are 100% correct. Serve the song, less really can be more!
I’m not sure what sort of feedback you’re used to receiving on these videos but I have to say, from one musician to another, this is painful. You are on day 4 of learning 4 measures of a song most consider to be lower level intermediate. It’s almost absurd that each video is 40+ minutes with basically no progression. You are clearly not a trained pianist, and a long form video for piano training would be better suited to someone who can explain the theory and positioning required to learn. if you want to live stream, thats okay too, but you shouldn't use those unedited streams as these tutorial videos. this whole series could be summed up as a general instruction video: take a song you like with the sheet music, play at half-speed with a metronome, and practice each measure by separating right hand and left hand parts. once comfortable, put them together at half-speed without metronome, and then with metronome. im sorry if this is harsh or too critical, but i just sat through a couple hours of these videos, hoping i could gain some knowledge or information out of them, only to find that i was spending time watching you fumble your way through learning the first 4 measures of a song and talking to stream viewers about irrelevant shit. Ive played piano for 12 years at this point, and I'll offer you some unsolicited advice for yourself; practicing at half-speed like that is actually hindering you from learning. maybe slow down 10-20BPM, but it actually takes more skill to play at slower BPM than it does to play at 80-140 BPM. this is part of why you struggle so much to count correctly when playing with the metronome.
Reading your comment, I’m at a loss in a few ways. First, I never claimed to be a great piano player, just doing “Live Piano Practice.” So, I get that this isn’t the tutorial you want. I’m breaking the song down for myself, and yes, it has a lesson feel to it. Are these good videos objectively? No. Will they get better? Yes, as I improve and get comfortable with the format. Watch if you want, don’t if you don’t. You sat through 4 hours of it? Either you did, or you don’t have the logic and reasoning skills to realize, “This isn’t the video for me,” when RUclips is full of instruction videos. Also, if it’s a song you call “low level,” why even watch? Take a screenshot or buy the music. You have 12 years of piano experience, so learn it yourself. If you had an ounce of logic, you’d know within a minute that I’m not giving the info you want. Come on, bro. WHO CARES? We all learn differently. You prefer the polished, finished videos. So do I. I’m building the skill set to do that and learning how to do these live streams. Also, “if you want to live stream,” are you the gatekeeper of piano and live streaming now? Thanks for giving me permission to do things my way. It pisses you off that I talk to people while doing it? Did you consider that it makes it more engaging for me? Have you watched the ones where it pertains to the song? No? That’s okay. If you don’t like the format, don’t watch. Plenty of people don’t watch. You’re mistaken about the 4 days on 4 measures. Those measures make up over 80% of the song. Learning them well helps me get the idea of the song down, making it easier to add nuances and complexities later. So, this “lower level” song-will it take you 4 hours to play perfectly in time, note for note? Maybe you’re that good. Good for you. What do you think I’m building here? I just happen to be doing this live. Lots of your comments stem from this not being the video for you and not having the mental faculties to accept that and move on. I’m learning this for a student, so I might not be perfect, but I can better help them in a lesson. Your argument is to keep all this practice to myself and not do it live. Cool, thanks for the feedback. When you’re done gatekeeping piano, let me know. In the future, just write “you suck.” The painful aspect is having to read this long message. I don’t think you’re too harsh or too critical; you just want to “type shit.” Your last paragraph is hilarious. All your advice has been unsolicited. I’m glad you’ve played for 12 years. I’ve owned a music studio for 15 years and taught for over 20. I’ve always been a better teacher than player, but I’m confident I’ve taught many students with this same methodology. Yes, it’s slow and hard, but there are good learnings from that. Right now, the only thing hindering my learning is typing this response. :)
I sang along with you for the whole 56 minutes, until I realised it was a piano exercise. But I enjoyed it anyway, thank you
Haha that’s awesome! And love that you were ok singing it at these super slow speeds ha!
@@MusicByTheMeasures I know it's hilarious, but it's true, I had a few hundred photos to process in Lightroom, and somehow your video came up in the recommendations, so I started listening to it and singing along relaxed, while concentraning on the job I was doing. I don't consider myself a great singer, but I really enjoyed it.
Hey I’m happy I could help! Sometimes it’s nice to have something in the background that’s the right amount of engagement. I was doing the same thing the other with albums I don’t know that well. Let me know what I need to learn next :)
first tune your guitar.
ha
Absolutely fantastic ❤😊
Thanks!
Hey dude! Sorry I’ve been a stranger. Been moving into a new home and you know how that is. Been trying to catch up with you. Keep up the content
Ha dude never need to apologize! I get it so much. Some weeks I get the time in and others I feel like a zombie. Love to hear the demo you’re working on. And hoping the move is a good one man!!
@@MusicByTheMeasures the move was a success. Still living out of boxes but that’s par for this course. Not quite finished with the current mix but I can send you something I did a while back for a local praise band. I’d love to get your feedback. Shoot me a email to send it too.
Glad to hear it man! ha I moved 2 years ago and I feel im still partly living out of boxes, so I get you! Send my way my guy! mbtmcontact@gmail.com
Kind of tough to get the hang of. But already unlocking new tones for strumming…

Hi. What software are you using please
Hey man, we use Sibelius to write all our sheet music, so thats playing back and then I am using Blackmagic ATEM to put on the screen and OBS to put it on RUclips. haha covered all the basis to what I'm using! :)
Great Lesson! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you liked it!
I missed the live but watching now! Thanks for uploading
Ha it’s rough Randy, one of those practices that went backwards ha. But we will carry on!
Hey I. Sorry I had work late today. I'm also watching now. Sorry I missed the live. 😅😅 I'll try my best foe next time
Ha as I told Randy it wasn’t much. But will be back at it tomorrow. How was work man?
Knock off the 16th hi hats, buddy, it's throwing you off! The score calls for 8ths, 1 and ah 2 e and.
For sure, something I need to work on. It’s good to put them in there to learn placement. The interlude drums have 16th note hihats as tho, so good to learn that as well.
@@MusicByTheMeasures Also, as a point of discussion, I would suggest it should be notated 1, 2 and 3 and 4, which puts the backbeat on 2 and 4, which is what you'd expect? Just saying...with respect.
it is what you would expect but now how it’s really felt or played. The snares are the “up beats”. Or you could think of it as all off beats. So via the whole band and taping out the tempo you would end up around 115 which would make the snare on every &. Good discussion man! And feedback. Appreciate it!
"Promo sm"
Thanks!
this is great...thanks for sharing...any chance you can do the verse and chorus and provide the sheet music?...2 years ago I took what I learned on guitar after 8 years and started playing piano...I knew where middle C is...I'd like to play this tune at a party my friend is having on 4/20 as a tribute to his mother...I've played in front of folks twice...both at parties my friend had...he has parties in his barn...very cool venue...the 1st time I played he and his mother came up to me after I finished...she wanted to tell me how much she enjoyed my music...she has since passed...was my biggest fan...
For sure I can do the verse and chorus this week (look for Live piano #10 - coming your way by Wednesday man!) Dude thanks for sharing that story and very sweet of you to play it as a tribute to her! let me know if there are any other sections of the song you need help with. if you wanna purchase the sheet you can get it here. thanks man! music-by-the-measures.com/product/forever-young-keyboard/
Very well played and nice sound my friend!!
Hey man, appreciate it!
What does the Mf under the snare mean
It’s a dynamic marking, so it means this section is “medium loud” later in the song it goes to “f” which means loud.
@@MusicByTheMeasures ok thanks
I feel this doesn’t need to be taught if you teach rudiments and the basics to someone
I've found teaching thru songs to be more successful and engaging than a strict focus on rudiments. And then as I get them hooked I will gotten go back and hit rudiments. lots of ways to learn.
Clean loop 🥶
Yes. Yes it is.
😂
:)
What is the purpose of finding the buzz?
All about economy of movement and playing with less strain. If you wanna play fast spend a week on this and you will notice your fingers start to fly!
Love the cam angles.
Thank you!
Do you then just repeat the whole thing?
You do for the most part, chorus is just the intro drum part as well. some fills and breaks to watch out for!
With much appreciation for getting me started - I don’t think this is quite it
Just listened to the original again, it's the intro alright.
I don't remember what I did about the lawn. It has been maintained until this day.
Ha!
Just what I was looking for!! Sweet!💙👍
Happy to help!

wheres the rest of it
What section/instrument do you want next? I'll be doing some Lives this next week on Christmas songs and can hit this one too. If you need the sheet music check out MBTMPRO.com to get that, thanks!
"I am free!"... same cadence as "Call me!" by Blondie which they are clearly paying homage here.
Another song I want to learn is through the Valley by Shawn James
Sweet man, ill check it out!
Last night???? Plz 🙏
Will hit that next Guitar live I do. What part are you struggling the most with?
@@MusicByTheMeasures the slide
Great break down. Stan Lynch is the man, so many of his drum parts we so tasty.
So many iconic parts, he did a great job of playing to the song much like a Ringo, too bad they had a falling out. I’m sure their is an alternate universe where Stan played on all of Petty’s tracks!
Which string do you slide on
All the slides are on the 3rd string.
