Unwind Crochet
Добавлен 27 сен 2024
Crochet is one of the best ways to unwind after a stressful day! I learned crochet when I was only 7 and living in the charming village of Lakenheath in England. No pun intended, but from then on I was hooked. The patient counting involved in crochet if you're following a pattern is well known to be relaxing, since you can't think of stressful stuff when you're trying to count stitches. The calming motion and repetition of the stitches is truly hypnotic and mesmerizing. It's known to bring down blood pressure, bring your mind into a state of calm and help you to focus and kind of lose yourself in creation of something fun and beautiful. Come with me as I teach you all the basics to get started, then feel free to move on to different stitches to enhance any pattern you choose to crochet. I'll include plenty of short, easy-to-follow videos teaching you lots of different stitches you can learn and experiment with! Happy crocheting and here's to your new, favorite, relaxing hobby!

How do I determine if it’s AIR weight yarn?
@@rebeccadana5945 If you look on the label, it'll say it's a size 4 yarn. If the recommended needle size is a 5 or 5.5 mm, it's worsted weight (aran), or it'll say medium weight. Happy to have you here!
@ oh OK thank you so much. Have a great rest of your day.
@rebeccadana5945 You too! 🙂

Hello beloved one, This hat pattern is now on my pattern to try list because I like making hats. The only part I didn’t quite understand is the last 6 slip stitches where you stitched it together on top. Do you do the slip stitch in every other row or every 4 row? Can you please explain that to me once again. Thank you and enjoy your day blessings. ❤
@@BegayveCreation You work those slip stitches in rows 3 and 4 of the 4-row repeat. In rows 1 and 2 of the repeat, you turn your work just before the 6 slip stitches at the end of row one, work row 2 back toward the 26 single crochet of the brim, then turn and start row 3 where you'll work those 6 slip stitches at the end of it, turn your work, 6 slip stitches and then rest of honeycomb pattern to end of row 4. Let me know if that helps! Happy you're here!
Why are you turning and turning the yarn round and round! Which hook do you use and what is the size? 56 cm or more or less?,.that isn’t quite clear
@@bephoogstraten3659 Fidgety hands? Lol. Maybe I just can't wait to start crocheting? 🙂 I used a 4.25 mm hook. Anything between 4-5 is fine.
@@UnwindCrochetthank you very much!

@@ebbiediaz4818 I can do that! Grateful you're here and happy you enjoyed the pattern!
Lovely pattern. Those of us who've made these type of hats before will know that from the 2nd row onwards you work in the back loop of each stitch only, to give the hat the stretch effect. However, it wasn't mentioned until part way along that row so might confuse anyone making this type of hat for the 1st time
@@lyndafirth9282 Thanks Lynda. It was on the screen to start the 2nd row. I'm glad you enjoyed the pattern!

I finished my first one and it came out beautifully. The only change I made was to do the first row in the back bumps and it made seaming a little easier to match stitch for stitch. Thank you and I will be making more of these.

I love the s stitch, but don't know what to make with it.
This is a great stitch for blankets because it builds up quickly. I don't prefer it for hats because it's an open fabric, but a scarf would be great!
Nice stitch for washcloths and dishcloths. Use cotton yarn.
That's one of the prettiest stitches I've seen
It's a HOOK not a NEEDLE!! The scarf is beautiful. Will be trying this one soon. Thanks for the tutorial
Thank you for watching! I'm grateful you're here.
Wow, what an interesting idea!! Although I think it would be a yarn eater for it, I think it would make for a gorgeous throw blanket!! Or how about a small cuddle blanket for a child? I am not much of a scarf person, But I have to try this stitch!!🤩
@@carolynyoung7820 whatever you choose to make, it'll be gorgeous! I use the baby yarn because even though the piece is chunky and thick, it still has flexibility which I like. I'd love to see what you make!

@@UnwindCrochet I actually have some yak, alpaca and baby camel yarn that is DK weight...all in natural undyed colors. Yak is dark brown, and alpaca & camel are shades of tan...would be cozy and toasty warm for those blustery days.🤗
@@gretchenchristophel1169 Ooh, I love natural fiber yarns. I bet your project is going to be gorgeous! And yes, very cozy and toasty warm ☺
Thank you so much!
You're very welcome! I'd love to see what you make with curly crochet!
How do you know how much chain to make in the beginning as you use the chain all the way through??
She leaves the workin end of the original chain and if she runs out, she chains some more. So you’re always creating more chains(working yarn) as you go along. The working chain is at one end and the actual scarf is at the other end. Brilliant!
I'd just start with a long chain, maybe 4-5 feet or more, then as you come to the end of your working yarn/chain, you just stop making the scarf for a minute to crochet some more chain. I enjoy going back and forth, but you can also try just crocheting up a skein of chain to use for this project so you only have to focus on the scarf or whatever you're making. I'd love to see what you make!
Love it! You made that super simple. Thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!
